When she first sees the satchel, Lyngheid thinks to herself that it looks vaguely familiar. Picking it up and inspecting the contents, she can see that it is a Healer's Kit, heavily used. And from the random ball bearing and shiny gem that she finds in it, she is able to recognize that it is none other than their fearless, plucky goblin companion Droop's healer's kit!
Based on the bloody bandages lying around it, broken arrow shafts, and a dagger near it, you can tell that this was the scene of a fierce battle.
Umbriel looks confused. "Last I remember, Droop was magically induced to sleep during the Yakfolk scuffle - it looks like he woke up and was doing some scouting, but ran into trouble. Are there tracks we can follow?"
Make an Investigation to look for evidence of where Droop may have gone or what may have happened, or a Survival check to specifically look for Droop's tracks.
Make it with Advantage() because someone will be helping you.
Scouring the area with your darkvision you can see where Droop ran down this mine shaft, and then ran back and lay against the wall, bandaging himself.
You also notice that some of the discarded bandages have burn marks.
And then you can see in the dust a trail back to the stairs where it looks like something dragged Droop. Something slithery like Baeshra-Snake's tracks. Except there are more scorch marks on the rocks along it's trail.
The group slowly and stealthily heads down the stairs, someone leading Nyx by hand so the pace is a little faster. After another 1/2 hour of descent (90 minutes total), Lyngheid hears it first, and then the rest hear it as well: distant sounds of a mining operation. Picks striking stone and the sound of rocks being shoveled into metal carts.
The sounds seem to be coming from a horizontal tunnel heading deeper into the mountainside.
Lyngheid, in familiar terrain, takes the front and leads the party down the tunnel towards the mining sounds. The noises grow louder and louder, and you realize there is no need for stealth in here. Torchlight starts to illuminate the mining tunnels and now even Nyx can see!
Around a bend in the tunnel, you see a small cluster of gnomes and dwarves. The gnomes are carving into the walls with pickaxes and the dwarves are loading ore into a mining cart. The tunnel continues beyond them. On the other side of the gnomes and dwarves, you can see a very large snake-lizard looking creature, with spines running down it's back and arms near it's head. It is holding a spear and watching over the miners.
Ireniana marches with Lyngheid as well, keeping an eye out for Droop among the dwarves. She's also upset by the sight of slaves, but she's really concerned for Droop's safety.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
You aren't able to see Droop, but you can't be sure he's not there because your view is limited by the mining cart and gnomes and dwarves. You can tell that the closest gnomes have their feet shackled though.
Just then, the closest fiery creature looks up and sees you. It shouts something unintelligible and then starts slithering towards you with it's spear extended in the throwing position. One behind it looks up at it's shouts and starts toward you as well. The dwarves and gnomes wearily look up and start moving to the sides of the tunnel.
Everyone roll initiative and take your turn if higher than: 11.

Lyngheid picks up the satchel and looks inside.
Make an Investigation check.

The path leads down the stairs.
" Why would he come down here alone?"
Baeshra begins to slowly make his way down the stairs, intent to find Droop before anything else.
Lyngheid follows Baeshra with mounting trepidation.....

Feeling very much at home despite the ever present danger Lyngheid heads into the mining tunnel.

Lyngheid scowled, " I thought there were giants.....first cows....now snakes.....oh, I guess there was a giant too....."
Seeing dwarves being kept prisoner she glowered and began to march forward.
