Yed hears a rustling in the underbrush, and when he looks up he sees the two goblin archers running away, in the opposite direction from the cave. Calming down after the rush of adrenaline, Yed spots Doc's healing kit next to his unconscious body. Although he is not as skilled as Doc, he is still able to stabilize his companions before they bleed out. They come around 3 hours later, sore but alive. (Everyone except Yed has 1 HP.)

After splattering the bugbear across the forest floor, Yed will drop to his knees in exhaustion before realizing the state of his companions. Leaving the hammer on the floor he drags himself over to Doc’s healing kit, and proceeds to try his best to treat the bloody bodies of the party. His hands shake as he treats each person, tears in his eyes as he seems almost in a daze just muttering over the bodies as he attempts to heal them.
Yed finishes stabilizing them then realizes that’ll be sometime before they all wake, so he will sit in a fetal position with his arms wrapped around him, his back to a tree and facing the cave or direction he’d seen the goblins ran off. If not seeing any threats Yed will just stare at the broken body of the bugbear who’d been so close to taking his life. He softly says to himself absentmindedly as he takes in the bloody mess he was responsible for, looking from his gore covered Warhammer to his cold, blood stained fingers. PERCEPTION: 9 (Just keeping watch)
”Slaying monsters is not as fun as we’d thought Alice.”
Yed will then hum a lullaby he’s never managed to get out of his head, repeatedly and absentmindedly as he sits. Cold, alone, and waiting for his companions to come to consciousness.
It’s close to sunset by the time Big Bear comes to. He grunts in pain as he touches the bandaged shoulder wounds. A little tight, but at least they aren’t seeping blood anymore. He looks over at Yed, unsure whether he’s awake or starting to nod off. He’ll take a moment to walk over to Yed, and, pulling out an old wool blanket from home he’ll wrap the plaid-dyed blanket over Yed with a gentle pat, “get some rest, Yed. I’ll take over for a bit” He glances over at the viscera encrusted hammer. looking back to Yed with a deep respect and admiration that has only deepened. “You did good today, kid. Tomorrow may be more of the same, and we’ll need you in top fighting condition. We owe you our lives, Yed.”
Big Bear is going to take his place as night watchmen for a while 21
Yed nods silently at Big Bear’s words as he almost instantly closes his eyes and falls asleep after having the warm blanket placed over him. He nods off dreaming of great adventures and a warm home.
Shamash snaps awake finally, the image of the bugbear and his mornigstar still flashing in his vision. He jumps up, and immediately winces with the bruising and pain of the battle recently ended. He looks around the area, trying to determine what must have happened, his mind reeling, trying to process it all. Finally, he sees the ruin of the bugbear, the damage done by the warhammer making it evident who was their savior. He turns to Big Bear, who is watching, and says "He saved us, didn't he? You will all unconscious when I went down."
Not wanting to ruin Yed's rest, Shamash stands over him and offers a brief prayer to Ilmater, hoping that Ilmater can help carry the burdens the goliath is evidently carrying.
He turns back to Big Bear, "I am so sorry. I was on watch and they set up that ambush. This is all my fault. I will find a way to make it up to you. But I think I have let you down enough for one day." Then Shamash lays down to take his repose.
Ena awakens to a throbbing pain in her head, and groans. She grimaces as she sits up, dazed from having been immediately knocked under, and she frowns as she gains sight of the grim scene around her. Her heart skips a beat when she discovers Klarg's body; the gory mess made from his corpse sickens her.
She grits her teeth as she limps near their second watchman and slowly lowers herself down. "I can't sleep. Not after that. Let me keep watch for a bit?" She eyes the blood that covered Yed's warhammer and reasons that he must have dealt the finishing blow. She stares resolutely into the night, reflecting on the battle.
Yed wakes early in the morning, the sounds of forest life around him stirring him to consciousness. The feeling of warmth given to him by Big Bear’s woolen blanket is almost unfamiliar to Yed after spending so much time wandering. His body is sore and the smell is foul as he wakes, Klarg’s body still lay there, a reminder of the day before. He sees his Warhammer still laying on the floor, covered in the blood of the bugbear. He will walk slowly to it before grabbing it by the handle and dragging the large head on the ground, towards where the main group has set up. Seeing Ena still on watch, the memory of her limp body falling in front him as he stood helpless flashes through his mind for a brief moment. So trying to ignore the memory Yed hopefully hides any signs of discomfort on his face, instead gently greeting the young human and saying,
“How do you feel Lady Ena?...yesterday was difficult, for all of us.”
Ena had been nodding off to the peaceful sound of chirping birds and the warm glow of the morning sun when she suddenly saw a huge, blood-soaked, hulking figure slowly approach her while dragging a weapon twice the size of her body. She reels, yelping in fear and scrambling to grab her staff from beside her, before the lucidity coupled with her adrenaline allows her to clearly see the gentle giant before her. She nervously chuckles as she tries to redeem herself, gesticulating as she speaks as if to distract him from her initial surprise.
"I feel great! It'll take more than a couple of lucky shots to bring me down!"
She jumps up and tries to strike a pose a bit too eagerly, and her limbs crack as she feels the soreness from last night's adventure hit her with a vengeance. She nearly falls over and yells a bit as she tries to keep her balance. She sighs in relief when she finally manages to keep herself from faceplanting.
"A-Anyway! I'm no 'Lady', Ena works just fine." She sniffs the air, glancing warily at the resident corpse and wondering how she'd failed to notice the foul smell until now. "You really did a number on that bugbear, didn't you? Remind me to never get on your bad side."
Seeing Ena reel back at his approach Yed stops and looks at her with worry. He feels alert immediately and almost looks behind him to see what had alarmed her. Before he looked down and realized that he was still caked in the dried blood of Klarg. He’d even known his name. Yed looks at his calloused and blood stained hands before looking up and seeing Ena barely manage to stay on her feet.
Staying exactly where he had stopped Yed mutters under his breath his reply, eyes looking anywhere but her direction as he unconsciously moves the silver Warhammer that was caked in blood behind his back, “My apologies La-ad erm I mean Ena. My apologies Ena.” Looking down at his blood covered body once again he will head towards the forest saying, “I’ll will find somewhere to wash up”. Yed then quickly pivots into the forest carrying the Warhammer to his front as he walks blindly into trees, hoping to find somewhere to wash. As he walks he will look down at his large, imposing form covered in the gore of his enemies. A memory flashes through his mind,
A small, skinny Goliath child stands in a marketplace, his hands manacled so tight that it begun to dig into the child’s wrists. The day had been dry, but the market had been busy. He saw many people pass his master’s stall, inspecting the other children and men at his sides. He’d been passed over most of the day when people realized that although Goliath, the child’s small size and skinny stature indicated it was the probably the runt of the lot. His master Ilan can be heard yelling to passers by, trying to sell his goods “Monsters of all Kinds! Buy them young and you’ll have your own loyal monsters for the rest of your life!”
Yed shakes his head as he once again looks up, hoping to find a source of water to wash up.
Big Bear stretches and yawns as the sounds of morning reach his ears. “Whew. Really does a body good to rest out amongst the trees!” Looking around he‘ll note the dead bodies left where they fell from yesterday, and note Yed’s absence. Big Bear the. Gets up, and goes over beside Ena. ”Good work yesterday. I can see now that you have some really formidable powers. I need to go commune in the woods for a few minutes, I’ll be back shortly. Big Bear will smile warmly at the Sorcerer before walking out into the woods. He’ll notice the tracks of Yed, and track him down first. Finding him walking through the woods numbly, with a thousand yard stare. “Yed! Come with me, there’s a calm, and deep part of the stream this way. You can wash up and meditate with me.” Big Bear will gently guide Yed by the shoulder back towards the stream a few clicks downstream of the cave entrance, being sure to be out of sight of the cavern. At the stream, he will sit down on the rocky bank, close his eyes and focus on the sounds of water, the rustle of the breeze through the trees, and the morning calls of the birds.

Shamash finally awakes again, as sore as he can ever remember being. While the image of the bugbear bringing his morningstar down is still fresh, this morning Shamash is much more disturbed by another image: the sight of three of his four companions unconscious on the forest floor. It means he failed. It means he didn't do enough, and failure is not an option. It wasn't an option on the streets of Baldur's Gate, and it isn't now. He is strong, and he needs to BE strong for others. After an initial stretch, his coiled dragonborn form tenses again, and begins to slouch and lower himself. He tentatively walks over to where Ena is keeping watch and sits down near her. "Thanks for keeping watch...better than I did at least. Those were some impressive fireworks you put out during the fight."
Yed lets Big Bear guide him to a stream, it was like he’d been wandering and gotten lost in his own mind. He was glad to feel Big Bear guide him but he didn’t feel like he was there. He was in that market.
Arriving to the stream Yed will first take a rag out of his pack, and wade into the water, cleaning the silver Warhammer meticulously first. He picks through all the viscera left on it, cleaning away all traces of Klarg. He sees the half orc sitting down, eyes closed. Yed wonders what he dreams about, are they anything like his? After finishing cleaning himself he will go to sit silently, a respectable distance from Big Bear, trying to copy his breathing pattern or the way his body seems to be placed. And then Yed closes his eyes and tries to focus on the sounds of water, the rustle of the breeze through the trees, and the morning calls of the birds.
