With one sector cleared, and two rooms into the next one complete, we decided to extract out and rest for the day. As we returned to the Doomvault, we noticed two things: the woman prisoner we decided not to liberate was gone, as were the guards, and the fire elemental was no longer in it's room. We were sure, as well, that the Thayans were aware something was infesting their Vault: us.
We followed our path and re entered the Blood Pens to room 18. Shalendra was a very good guide and mapmaker. However, what was in this room was something we didn't expect. Rough cots scattered across the floor contrasted with the decor in the east end of the room, which contained a great seat of white marble. Some of the magic lights were shrouded, so that side of the room was dimly lit. In the northeast corner is a black gate. West of it is a contact stone. Six Thayan apprentices and eight warriors were resting in this room.
We had a split second of surprise to act until the Thayans realized we were intruders.
