The room is easy to secure. Inside you find fine furniture, completely covered with dust and cobwebs. A journal sits on a small writing table by the west wall. Elven writing on the inner cover says it belonged to Vyldara, an embassador for the moon elves. The first pages detail her travels to find the fortress, descriptions of the food they ate on their way and other small trivial details.
The last few entries are written in a shaky hand.
The king suspects that I have come to disrupt the peace among his people. He has denied me an audience yet again and refuses to send my letters back to my people. If this continues I'll have to go back in shame.
As I feared, I have now become a hostage. I have food and my personal belongings, but I can't leave this room. The castellan says that once my queen pays a ransom I will be free to go. Alas, I know that he lies. They want me to die here, far from the open sky and the trees. Tonight I'll make my move, may Sehanine look over me.
"Sad." Lia says as she reads the journal. She sighs as she puts it aside and glances to the others. "Seems like this is as safe a place to rest as we are likely to find." She will settle in to rest with the others.
You rest for a couple hours in the barricated room. Taking your time to search every nook and cranny in it you find an unlocked steel coffer packed with fine clay, containing a potion of superior healing.
OOC: you get a short rest, Rhok can roll hit dice to recover more than the 1hp he awoke with.
Xarrothlights stick of incense, the smell may remind one of open fields. His prayer in Draconic is mumbled, but says aloud in Common, "A sickening loss of life. His wings' shadow now protect you as you now head to peace, Vyldara."
The dragonborn nods and walks over to his comrade, "Aye, that we did, Rhok. How are you feeling? I... cannot say I have faced such an enemy before."
still rubbing his head, Rhokgets to his feet and begins to take in the surroundings of the room "Last I recall is that thing letting out this screech and my head felt like it exploded, next I'm waking up to the wonderful smell of fields, happy to see all of you!"
"Glad to see you back on your feet"Lothlién speaks to Rhok with a tap on his shoulder. "About that potion we found, I believe whoever is leading our line should hold it. Who's looking better suited for that?"
OOC: I'm on 29/38 HP. I guess the characters may evaluate how healthy each one is by their looks, translating the HP.
"I'd say a melee person should have it." Lia speaks up. She looks around at the group. "Are we ready to see what we can learn about more of this place then?" If the others are, then she would head to the door, ready to move on to the next chamber.
Having rested in this safe room, you carefully open the door back to the angled corridor. There are two other closed doors one to each side of the banshee's chamber and a smaller door to the west by the corridor's end. Three arrowlits in the north wall overlook the main hall where the front door is.
Ignoring the other doors for now, you go back east to the corner and open the door going north. It reveals an empty stone room with carved stone walls and a set of open ornated doors to the west. The doors lead to a balcony hanging over the great hall, from where a king or priest could give a speech to the gathered masses below.
There is nothing of value in this room, nor in the balcony over the great hall. Just a dwarf sized podium to keep notes when delivering a speech.
Location description: you are at the corner of an L shaped hallway. One branch goes west alongside the great hall, with arroslits towards the huge room and three doors on the south wall, the middle one belonging to the banshee's room. There is also a smaller door at the westmost end. The other branch goes south, it has a closed door going west, the stairs you climbed going east and a larger staircase going down at the southmost end.
Moving back to the hallway, you open the door closest to the bend, east of the banshee's chamber. It leads to a 15 by 25 feet room, empty except for a carved stone bathtub filled with gnawed dwarven bones. A faucet slowly drips into the bathtub.
"Let's make sure there is nothing lurking in here first." Lia suggests. She moves around, searching the chamber...

"I hope she can find peace, now. This is not a fair way to go." Lothlién points out with sadness.
He then takes some time to attend to his own wounds

"Let's check the two doors near where we faught the banshee spirit." Lia suggests, heading back to check the first of those doors.
Lothlién nods in agreement, following Lia.
"Right behind you" Rhok says, eyes open for any other surprises this place seems to continue to hold
