Trying to earn coin, more like, the man replies. But I've nothing against mercenaries. I find them reliable, so long as the money keeps flowing. Now, if you are indeed Tember's hired hounds, he will have given you letter. Show it to me.
The man takes the letter, walks over to the campfire and reads it in the firelight. He shakes his head as he reads, then he makes a move as though to toss it into the fire... and pulls back, handing it back to Silent.
This matter is easily resolved. My friends, you have stumbled into matters that are dangerous and best avoided. I have an easy way out for you. Tell me, what reward did Master Husseldorf offer for successfully finding those responsible for the damage to the grain silos?
The man nods. A hundred and fifty gold each. And you walk away. You don't even set foot in Trostenwald again for... let's say a year and a day. Like the stories. The other human chuckles at this.
The first man pats his side, and through the armour you definitely hear the clink of coins. Well, it's a good offer. Take it.
Silent grimaces and turns to Magnum, sayingIf I didn't know any better I'd say these fine fellas are tryin' to buy us off.
He turns back to the man. Have to say I'm real damned curious now, mate. Why pay that much coin to get rid of a couple of mercs looking at some busted-up grain silos? I like the taste of the beer in this town, see, and I'm already banned from entering enough towns. So unless you got some more information that'll sway me... I reckon I'm happy to keep poking around this mystery, with or without your help.
Round One Silent Leader and Bear Magnum Human, Half-Elf and Halfling
Silent is up. The people you are fighting have their weapons out but haven't had a chance to use them yet - you are quicker. The bear is still in its cage, but seems to have woken up at the sound of unfamiliar voices.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Seeing Magnum take severe damage, Silent is now furious and Manifests an Echo as a bonus action (situating it directly to the right of the campfire on the grid).
The echo can then be moved 30 ft. (not consuming an action or bonus action), and will do this to get adjacent to the leader. Silent's attack can be made from the Echo's position, so the Echo will strike out at the leader with its greatsword.
We are just trying to help a man find out who is breaking into his family's grain silos. If you're not the hired party, then who are you?

(OOC: I think Silent has the letter.)
(OOC: LOL I thought Magnum was given the letter. If Silent has it he'll show to them)

Magnum looks at Silent and shrugs. One hundred gold apiece for proof of who is vandalizing the grain silos.

Magnum is fine with the offer, but looks to Silent.

That... was the wrong answer, the man sighs, and he reaches for his weapon. Try not to kill them, he orders his men, reaching for his weapon.
Roll initiative please.

Round One

Silent
Leader and Bear
Magnum
Human, Half-Elf and Halfling
Silent is up. The people you are fighting have their weapons out but haven't had a chance to use them yet - you are quicker. The bear is still in its cage, but seems to have woken up at the sound of unfamiliar voices.
Seeing the men go for their weapons, Silent swears loudly and will throw one of his handaxes at the leader.
Attack: 18 Damage: 10
The leader takes the handaxe to his shoulder with only a grunt, though it's clear it's wounded him badly. Bastard son of a....

For his turn, he runs to the cage door, opens the latch, swings the door open, and retreats to the back of the cave.
The bear seems to be training and intent on attacking you. It comes to Magnum:
Bite Attack: 8 Damage: 9
Claw Attack: 26 Damage: 19
The claws seem to rip a hole with such force that it seems to you that you might be torn in two by another such strike.
Magnum is up.
As a bonus action Magnum activates his Defensive Field for 3 Temp HP and uses his action to cast Cure Wounds on himself for 6
Magnum restores himself as best he can. Then the human, half-elf and halfling in this group make their attacks.
The half-elf draws a short sword and runs to attack Magnum: Attack: 19 Damage: 4
That would have hit most foes, and the half-elf is clearly surprised and a bit worried when his strike bounces off your metal plating.
The halfling ducks behind Silent: Attack: 11 Damage: 4
Not close, but the human comes at Silent from the front, flanking with his friend to gain advantage:

Attack: 23 Damage: 11
He draws blood with his first blow, though Silent is a hardy foe and the battle has just begun.
Round Two
Silent
Leader and Bear
Magnum
Human, Half-Elf and Halfling

Echo's Attack 23 Damage: 14
If the leader is still standing after that attack, Silent will Unleash Incarnation to have the Echo take a second strike.
Echo's Attack 19 Damage: 9
(OOC: The Echo will disappear immediately after making its attacks since Silent's turn ends with it more than 30 ft. away from him)
