The guards are amiable; they don't take against you, but they have the air of knowing that you're just passing through and not really someone they want to invest a lot of time into. But, you still have a good time, and get the sense they have a decent opinion of you. You have still built a good relationship with Geta and Ressin though - the nat one doesn't cancel that out. :)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Alton will show off the fancy goggles of night to everyone in the party. He will also pick up a variety pack of pastries from the bakeries and bring them back to share with everyone.
Magnum approaches Alton after seeing the goggles of night. Is there any way I can negotiate the purchase or trade of those goggles? I am building my own, but this would save me a great deal of money and effort.
Silent and Magnum, you are invited to join the others as they complete a mission they've been given; it's to a house on the outskirts of town. It won't interrupt your other plans for the day. Are you going to join them?
Alton's eyes go wide hearing about Magic Missile, "A spell that never misses sounds like it would be really good to know. I'll trade you the goggles if you teach me how to use that spell."
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Be excellent to each other, and roll for initiative dudes!
I'd gladly make that trade, but it could take a while to teach you. (OOC: I guess I should ask, is this something that I can even do for Alton? I know bards can learn spells via Magical Secrets, but is that what this would be?)
The spell has only one counter. The shield spell, and counterspell I suppose.
[Apologies, wrote this up, but didn't post (life got in the way):
Wash will spend two days finishing off the other two potions of healing (regular) that he bought ingredients for in Hupperdook. He will then spend as much time as needed getting to know Trogdor further, so that he has knowledge of Trogdor's abilities better - and so I can use Trogdor more like a regular Chain Warlock familiar if possible.
If that is possible and if Trogdor gives consent, Wash will use 10 gp worth of the charcoal, incense, and herbs he bought (90 gp left) to transform Trogdor into a sprite, asking "are you happy to hold this form for a while? I think it will help for what we are doing in Felderwin."
Wash will then get Sprite-Trogdor to turn invisible, and send them to Ancis Trey's address. Wash will tell Trogdor to remain invisible and wait by the door until the door opens, then to go inside, determine whether any person they see there is likely to be Ancis Trey (has INT of 14, so above average intelligence in sprite form) and once they do so, drop invisibility and start a conversation. Wash will tell Trogdor to say that they come in peace, ask that they are speaking to Ancis Trey, if that is confirmed say that they are there on the behest of a mutual friend of Bririck Goldcannon, who has asked that Ancis Trey meets them at the Goldfield Tavern and Lodge and to be discreet.
With any other time, Wash will see if he can volunteer at a local hospital or similar and try and build relationships that way.

Looks like much of that was all unnecessary/I was overthinking it by trying to be sneaky.]
Wash would have made sure that they actually visited the Oppaline Smithy first, then would have told Geta "I have been asked to stop and check in on a friend-of-a-friend, are you happy for us to knock on a door just down the street?"
Yes? a thin voice comes from behind the door. Can I help you?
Wash asks "Hello, is that Ancis Trey? I am a good friend of Bririck Goldcannon. He knew I was travelling to Felderwin and said I should stop in and say hello. Is it OK if we come in?"
Alton doesn't have any feature that would allow him to a learn a spell from Magnum in the way you're proposing. Even Magical Secrets (which he gets at tenth level) doesn't allow him to increase the total number of spells known. I don't see a RAW way to do what you're proposing - I'm open to suggestions though, if I've missed something.
Magnum and Silent will both be with you all as you attempt to complete your delivery.
You complete your two potions. Trogdor becomes increasingly comfortable around you, though he doesn't lose any of his personality and continues to offer commentary on what you do, and make his own opinions known. It's also clear that though he can communicate with you in words, he much prefers to send images, often edited for comic effect. You have a sense that his behaviour is a little unusual for a fey creature, but you do gain access to all the abilities you would expect from a familiar, and some you might not - in particular, you feel the protective aura of magic resistance around you when he is close by.
Felderwin is a peaceful place; there are no wounded mercenaries or guards to tend, but you do find a temple to the Dawnfather, where a rather scatty halfling priestess gives free healing, both herbal and magical, to all comers, and she has a steady trickle of patients through the days. You can make a Medicine check to see how well you are able to handle this kind of patient.
Bririck, says the voice. Oh, oh dear. Oh, yes, well, I think you'd better come in.
The door opens to the back of an elderly man walking away from you. Come in, and close the door behind you, his voice comes.
You enter a fairly small and rather disorganised house. It's not quite reaching hoarder level, but give it a few more years and it might. You gingerly walk past piles of documents and odd keepsakes on little tables until you reach a sitting room or parlour, with chairs of all sizes each stacked with even more documents.
Ancis Trey picks up a pile of notes from a chair and dumps them in a heap on the ground. Clear yourselves some space and sit down, he says to you. Now, what was that about Goldcannon? Oh, yes. Yes, well, do tell.
Balassar just carefully works to make his way to the space, ducking when needed. As the old man tells them all to sit he just looks for a chair that could fit him and cleans it off sitting. He decides to remain quite letting Alton or Wash speak.
You meet and provide aid to a fair few patients, and you do a decent, if unremarkable job. The priestess is pleased with your dedication, if not quite by your dazzling skills, and pays you seven gold for your work during the week.
No, Geta remained outside the house, standing guard.
As Wash is following the elderly man to sit, he has invisible Sprite-Trogdor brush up against him, so that heart sight is triggered:
Heart Sight. The sprite touches a creature and magically knows the creature's current emotional state. If the target fails a DC 10 Charisma saving throw, the sprite also knows the creature's alignment. Celestials, fiends, and undead automatically fail the saving throw.
Sprite-Trogdor's stealth to remain hidden is 15 (or best out of that and 11 if invisibility provides advantage).
Wash is trying to be very cautious and makes small talk until he is fairly confident that he is actually talking to Ancis Trey (and definitely not an evil/undead creature posing as Ancis Trey, because... paranoia).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ancis Trey does not notice Trogdor's presence or the touch. Shortly after, Trogdor sends you an emotion - worry, perhaps reaching the level of alarm, and concern about something or someone Trey cares very much about.

That's all you learn. From the fact that you don't learn more, you can deduce that this is not an undead creature.

The door doesn't open.

Alton gives Wash a nudge when the voice comes through the door. "I think you should take this one."

Alton thinks for a moment as he wears the goggles on the top of his head, "Do you know any cool spells, like that energy blast that Wash uses?"
(OOC: I don't mind if Silent and Magnum come with us to the guy's place.)
Be excellent to each other, and roll for initiative dudes!
No, but I know magic missile. Not the most powerful of spells, but it never misses.
