Alton's Con save to maintain concentration: 11

That first attack catches Alton off guard and, despite the surprise from being attacked and pain, he manages to barely hold onto the spell.

Silent swears angrily and is about to sprint towards Alton before looking back at the bugbears behind him. He instead moves his Echo into melee range of the gnoll leader and has his attack for this round come from the Echo, a sweeping greatsword slice. Silent himself stays where he is, eyes fixed on the three other gnoll soldiers. 

Attack 21 Damage: 13     

Balassar rushes into fight with the three Gnolls bringing his blade down on the first one he can reach.

OOC:

Movement: 30 ft to in front of Gnoll 2

Silent, you Echo wields your greatsword as skillfully as you do.  Through it, you slash the gnoll's leader across his back.  

Balassar, you have a little less luck: Gnoll 2 is light on his feet and dodges your attack, though you can tell it's not easy for him.

The four gnolls focus all their attacks on Balassar; Gnoll 1 moves first to into a position flanking with Gnoll 2, and makes two one attacks with his spear:

Attack: 22 Damage: 3
Attack: 15 Damage: 5

Gnoll 2 attacks as well:

Attack: 22 Damage: 8
Attack: 17 Damage: 7

These are skilled fighters, and it's clear they are accustomed to working as a team.  Balassar, you take two substantial hits, one a stab through the thigh, another through the shoulder, until you feel like a draconic pin cushion.  

Gnoll 3 also attacks:

Attack: 17 Damage: 3
Attack: 21 Damage: 6

Perhaps you are being jerked about by the other two spears that he's not able to land a blow.

(Correction - they only get one attack each.  Sadly, it was the first attack that hit in each case, so it stays...)

Gnoll 4 fires an arrow at Balassar:

Attack: 15 Damage: 8

But it sails off into the air and hits a rock somewhere out of sight.  The four attackers have left Balassar beaten and bloody, but alive and in the thick of battle.  Has Balassar missed this?

Alton is up. 
(FYI - Alton is within the reach of the gnoll leader - moving away would provoke an Opportunity Attack.)

  

Alton draws the rapier from his belt and moves towards the gnoll and take a stab at them, "Man, everyone just picks on the little guy, huh. Well, this little guy can fight back." He keeps his focus on the gnoll leader's armor to keep it glowing red-hot from his Heat Metal spell. 

Action: Attack the gnoll leader with his rapier, Attack: 12 Damage: 5 piercing
Movement: Move up five feet to get into melee range of the gnoll leader
Bonus Action: Push Heat Metal to cause another 12 fire damage.

Though your rapier thrust misses, you can smell the burning flesh from your Heat Metal spell, and see the pain on the gnoll's face.  He retorts by making two further glaive attacks against you:

Attack: 14 Damage: 9
Attack: 6 Damage: 8

Your own armour is serving you much better than his, as it deflects one blow - and you dodge the other skillfully.

Wash, Silent and Balassar are up.

Seeing Balassar taking some heavy hits, Wash channels a now-familar healing energy that flows into Balassar, healing him for 4.  Wash also casts Eldritch Blast at Gnoll 1:

Attack: 19 Damage: 9

The bolt slams into the creature's back and rips a hole in its armour.

Silent and Balassar are up.

Balassar just smiles as the battle begins to slip into that place were death is possible. He let's out a roar and slashes at one of the second Gnoll as its attack hits. His smile grows as the arrow deflects off his armor and he just brings his sword down again on the same Gnoll. He just takes a deep breath as he focuses himself and then slashes out this time at the first Gnoll that attacked him.

Silent hears Balassar's roar and swears again. Running straight into a scrap like that... bastard's out of his mind.  

He rushes into melee with Gnoll 1 (flanking it with Balassar) and aims an upward slash parallel to its spine. 

Attack 18 Damage: 14   

Shouting as he swings the blade, he will command the Echo to move to M12 and Unleash Incarnation, having it lash out against the gnoll leader. 

 Attack 10 Damage: 8  

(OOC: Can't remember what we decided for flanking way back when, but since it isn't a creature I didn't roll the Echo's attack with advantage)  

Balassar, though the vengeful feeling gives you determination, it doesn't  manage to guide your arm this time, and your reaction misses.  The first strike on Gnoll 2 hits, the second on Gnoll 1 misses, but you do feel a little strength return to you.

Silent, your upward slash catches the gnoll at the hip and doesn't quite manage to stay parallel with the spine, but rather forms a slight diagonal as you slice the body in two, from one hip to the opposite shoulder.  Both halves land in the dirt - gnoll 1 is dead.

(OOC:  I think we decided to treat the echo like a spiritual weapon, so it's inert except when you're commanding it and it can't be involved in getting flanking.)

Gnoll 2, disregarding his fellow's death, moves around to flank with Gnoll 3, and both attack Balassar:

Attack: 7 Damage: 3

Gnoll 4 is continuing to concentrate fire on the dragonborn:

Attack: 7 Damage: 9

A miss, and an arrow thuds into the bush near Alton.

Alton is up.

Alton waves a hand in front of his face, "Whew, who would of thought burning fur would be an improved smell for gnolls." Continuing to focus the spell casts on the gnoll leader's armor. He dances around the gnoll leader's weapon and darts in for another stab with his rapier. 

Bonus Action: Continuing to deal damage with Heat Metal, 11
Action: Attack the gnoll leader with the rapier, Attack: 20 Damage: 10 piercing
Movement: None

Alton, would you like to describe how you kill the gnoll leader (it requires both the rapier and the spell to finish him off.)

Silent, Balassar and Wash are up.  Wash will blast Gnoll 2 with an Eldritch Blast:

Attack: 15 Damage: 6

It hits, but doesn't kill the gnoll.

Silent and Balassar are up.

Seeing Alton finish the gnoll leader, Silent yells in Xhorhasian Elvish, Drop your weapons and surrender, you're outclassed! 

He pivots to flank Gnoll 3 with Balassar and will Ready an attack with the greatsword against Gnoll 3 if any of the gnolls continue to fight. He will also mentally command his Echo to move to I16. 

Silent, make an Intimidation check, as the gnolls regard their former leader's remains.

Intimidation 10 

There's no immediate response.  Let's see what Balassar does on his turn, before we get to the remaining gnolls.  Balassar of course does not understand what Silent said.

Balassar brings down his blade on the gnoll in front of him just grinning "Gonna make some fine gnoll rugs you are."
