Seeing Faleon in such rough shape, Oscar would quickly rush to his side and give him a hard slap on the shoulder. "What are ya doin lad?! Get yer head outta yer stink hole and hit'em back next time!" The armored halfing would shout as he cast cure wounds on the battered sorcerer.

"Good on ya fer not dying though" Oscar would say with with a sigh of relief... "but from now on, I want ya to wear this.." Oscar would take a moment to dig through his pack and hand Faleon a platinum ring. "Now this ain't a weddin proposal or anything but it will help me to keep you off yer ass" He woud say with a grin as he gives Faleon another hard pat on the shoulder.
"I'm fine! I wasn't worried. Well, maybe a little towards the end there. I got away from it and it chased me down and attacked me again! I was just playing games with it, I know how dogs like to play fetch. I was keeping it distracted whilst you all killed it. I think you'll find I made a pretty good chewtoy. And survived with just a few scratches."
Bree moves to the closest mastiff and nudges it with her foot. "Any idea why such a puppy as this would be attacking us?" She asks with a frown, glancing to the others. "And how did it just up and disappear like it did there?" She would kneel down, looking over the mastiff for any strange markings or anything else different about it.
Bree, you can see from your inspection that it's not a normal dog. There's something about it's form that's just off. As it lays on the ground the side that's in shadow from the fire looks like it's dissolving. Bleeding away to become part of the shadows themselves.
Gallo, I wont even make you roll. All around you is quiet. Not suspiciously so but about what you'd expect after a battle in the forest. As you listen you start to hear the nigh time insects starting to chirp again.
Oscar would place his platinum ring on his finger and after he watched Faleon put on his he would let out a sigh of relief and head to bed. He would leave all of his armor on including his helmet this time however..
Gallo takes some of his rope and makes a circle around the campsite, tying it to the trees and bushes and a stick if need be, at the height of about a foot and a half. He'll hang some cooking utensils on it as well for it to make noise should anything disturb the rope.
(I'll save you some trouble. The rest of the night is quiet. Everyone can get their long rest. If anyone has any other questions we can pick it up in the morning)
The morning dawns more slowly than usual and you wake to find it's overcast. The peeks of the mountains shrouded in low clouds. You get your camp packed up and continue heading toward the pass (I assume)
(OOC: The platinum ring is a spell component that allows Oscar to cast a spell that will help protect you.... it will also hurt oscar a bit when you take damage... which you might enjoy lol)
Oscar would wake up and pray a silent prayer to the grain goddess before digging through his pack and pulling out some food. "I'm starving... fighting shadow dogs in the middle of the night can work ya up an appetite. " He would say with a grin.
Faleon thanks Oscar for the ring, wondering what it does, and agrees with him about the appetite. "Avoiding death is certainly hungry work. I hope we don't have to do that every day. I mean, I'm up for an adventure, and excited to be doing something more than just training and learning, but dark, dissolving dogs aren't my kind of pets."
(OOC: DM, am I right in thinking we should be marking off one lot of rations and 2 empty waterskins at this point?)
Bree would yawn as she gets up, giving the others a nod and smile as she eats some rations. "I had the worst dream last night, with bad puppies and all." she shakes her head. "Hope none of our puppies are bad like those two in mine. They even attacked our camp, if you could believe that." With a sigh, she gets ready and has a skip in her step by the time they are heading out.
As the others are yawning and eating breakfast Gallo wanders in, all fresh and perky and limber, his pack fully assembled and ready to go. He's brandishing a new walking stick that he secures away with the pack for now.
"Ok, so lets finish up here quickly, stretch a bit and start of with a brisk walk, then move on to jogging pace."
He does some pull-ups on a nearby branch while the others set themselves up.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Correct Faleon. I'd just put the 2 empty water skins in notes, or you can make a custom item, whatever works)

Your day of travel goes by quickly and without incident. There are a couple times you can hear animals shrieking, as if being attacked, or attacking each other echoing down from the mountains. They are too far away to really pinpoint a location or be of any danger. As the light is just starting to fade you come to a valley in the mountains heading south that must be rolling rock pass. You can see that the name comes from rocks and boulders that have fallen down the mountains into the valley. While you can see that their is a way through the pass it looks like it will be a meandering path making your way around the fallen boulders.
You also every now and again get a moist decaying vegetation smell on the wind coming in from the West.
"Something is a bit stinky over that way." Bree points out as she wrinkles her nose. "Think something else has died?" She glances to the others. "Can we go and check it out?"

(Noted Faleon)
With Gallo's crack of his with the night suddenly goes quiet as the last mastiff falls to the ground Dead.
We are out of combat.
That's what happens when you wear a helmet your whole life!

"Thanks for the healing though. I needed that."

Gallo listens really intently for anything else moving nearby in the forest or anything of the sort.
"These are not puppies." Bree says with a frown. she points out how they seem to be fading into the shadows.

"Who's guard duty is it?" Bree asks with a big yawn.

Faleon stares open-mouthed at Bree, not sure if she's joking or if she genuinely does believe it was a dream.
