The stocky woman at first only spares Irelyn half of her attention. But when the words "the Growler" drop from Irelyn's green lips, the dwarf stiffens and turns slowly, her narrowed eyes boring a hole through the one who dared speak that disrespectful moniker. "My name," she says in a low rumble, "is Grizzelda Copperwraught, Hammer Finder of the Iron Foot Clan, third daughter of Davit Stormbringer, chief architect overseeing reconstruction of Leilon, and you would do well not to..." she pauses, the ropey veins in her neck popping, "vex me."
Then, looking over the group and noticing the ranger, Ruth, arriving belatedly, she nods. "I take it that you are the adventurers, come in response to the town council's advertisement?" She reaches into one of her many pockets and pulls out a crumpled sheet of parchment. After glancing at it she thrusts it out to the group. "Give this to Malwyn at the Umberhulk. It entitles you to charge your rooms to the council for tonight. If you perform satisfactorily, you will be compensated accordingly and can pay your own way going forward. The council's next meeting is tonight, here at the fishery after closing... about sundown." She fixes a stern eye on Irelyn. "See that you keep a civil tongue in your head when speaking to the council, girly."

Garrett - Perception check - 15
Garrett rushes forward to try some damage control. "Our apologies, Grizzelda. We're new to Leilon and we didn't get off on the right foot with Sergeant Hazz -- I think he gave us the wrong name to mess with us. It won't happen again." He reaches forward and grabs the parchment from her.
He turns back to the group. "We've got a few hours until sundown. We probably have enough time to chat with Malwyn and get our rooms sorted out before the council meeting. We could also find the job board and see what kinds of work they have available for adventurers." Garrett scans the area -- does he see the job board posted nearby?
Garrett manages to smooth things over with Grizzelda and at the same time notices a strange slack expression take over the face of the bald man operating the primitive crane. A moment ago he was straining and concentrating as he controlled the winch lever. Now he moves forward in a jerky motion, swinging the long crane arm slowly forward, the heavy crossbeam for the warehouse still suspended from the crane's rope. The huge bar casts a shadow that's moving toward your group and Grizzelda.
(The job board is hanging on the wall of the main fishery building. You can see it, but not read it from here.)
Daphnie can see that the water closest to the docks is rather thick and boggy, not good for swimming.
I also offer my apologies to Grizzelda, nodding in agreement with Kugs explanation, and thank her for understanding the situation. I also let her know we are the adventures that came in response to the Town Councils Advertisement. I then turn to Kugs and agree we should go speak with Malwyn at the Umberhulk. I grab Delphinas arm to guide her knowing how distracting the strong smell of fish must be to her.

Daphnie is very interested in the smell of fish and cannot really be bother to notice anything else.
"I wonder if we have time for a nice swim while we wait" she says while eying the water.
