Wildemount is one continent in the world of Exandria, which was built by the one and only Matthew Mercer. This campaign will be exploring the stories of 5 adventurers, beginning with how they first met in a town called Deastok. I will send a message to the people I choose so that we may flesh out those characters ideas.
In preparation, I will need submissions that contain the following:
Name: Race: Class: Backstory explaining the character and how they got to Deastok:
The characters should all be level 1. Feel free to ask any questions or concerns you may have.
Orin Schwarz is a halfelf from the town of Deastok. His mother died when he was young after giving birth to his sibling (there are 3, two older one younger). He left home when he was 16 to explore the world and find a place for himself. He ended up a Sailor (Rivalry Pirate) on the Menagerie coast. Then one day , a few years later, a storm washed him over board of his ship and drowned him, or at least he thought so. He woke up on the coast. It took him a few days before he realized that his heart had stop beating.Well nearly, every now and then it decides to pump some blood through his system, just to stop for a minute or two again. He also started to feel a connection to shadows and darkness since that day.
Orin returned to Deastok, to find out more about his ancestral history, in hope to gain some clues as to what happened to him.
I'm going to assume once players are chosen we are going to be able to work more with the DM and flesh out stuff more.
Name: Arrin Thunderwatcher Kolakakume
Race: Goliath
Class: Paladin (Oath of Conquest)
Backstory: Arrin's tribe hails from Cyrios Mountains, a nomadic ground that traversed all across the mountains. Growing up Arrin was taught to be strong, to fight, and to win; and Arrin did. He loved to compete and show just how strong he was always wrestling, fighting, and scrapping with just about anyone he could get to agree to a scrap. The only time Arrin was calm and not looking for a fight was when it stormed, when it thundered and rained he would be calm. Soaking in the storm, soaking up its power, and as soon as it was over, he was energized for everything. Arrin was a strong, prideful, perfect member of his clan; until that one fateful day. The day where he let fear overcome him, the day when the Roc attacked. On the day, Arrin did the most shameful thing he's ever done, he ran. He ran far and away from everything while the Roc attacked. He ran and ran until he came upon a building he's never seen before, a temple to Kord. A temple that held a single human in it, someone who saw how much of a coward Arrin really is, and someone who took pity on him. Arrin hated the pity, and used it to fuel himself, fuel himself to learn about the Stormlord and how to channel and use fear against his enemies. Now, with his training complete, Arrin was sent out but he couldn't return to his tribe, so he went somewhere they would never go, to civilization, to Deastok.
Name: Diana Lorelei Race: Human Class: Druid Backstory explaining the character and how they got to Deastok:
A distant second cousin of the Lorelei family she was raised in a small charcoal burners encampment on the edge of the Cyrengreen Forest. Though the family curse skipped her diluted bloodline she still found a common love for the hunt and the green....and a certain wolfish character.....
Of late she has wanted to see more of the world and has followed a troupe of entertainers on the road out of the wild and eventually to Deastok.
Is knowledge of CR or Wildemount a prerequisite? I have neither.
The campaign takes place in that world, but the things that happen here will, for the most part, be things you can probably look up. In short, no CR knowledge needed.
I would love to try out one of the new wizard sublcasses and need some escapism now that CR is on hiatus.
Name: Zoya Avhoste Race: Half-elf Class: Wizard Backstory explaining the character and how they got to Deastok: When Zoya was a child, she got lost in the Cyrengreen forest. Stuck in the darkest part of the woods, she came across an old drow woman that took her in and raised her as her own. Zoya spent years secluded, studying the customs and history of a distant land.
One day, the woman didn’t return from the journeys she made at night. With a light coin purse, a left-behind spellbook and a meagre understanding of the spells inside, Zoya set out north and stumbled across Deastock, where she has been living in an inn for a few days.

Name: Balasaar Silverstone Race: Ravenite Dragonborn (Silver) Class: Fighter Backstory explaining the character and how they got to Deastok: Balasaar was originally born in Port Zoom to merchant parents. Where his father was a slick talker and his mother a great craftswoman, he found his love in two things. Being a blacksmith and helping out people when he could. Realizing that a smith needs to experience life and see the world and other forms of crafting, he now wanders Wildemount trying to learn when he can and help wherever he can.
Born in the remnants of the Pallod Grove, Veleris didn’t know much about the outside world, and the little he knew peaked his curiosity even more. Once he was of an appropriate age, he left his home to explore the continent and perhaps establish a connection between his society and the rest of Wildemount, Deastok is one of the first town that lies on his journey. He realises that many may think him naive, and does not hesitate to use that to his own advantage. After all, he is curious to explore Wildemount, but he realises that if he is not careful while doing so, someone will explore his remains one day.
Edit: can I reroll the stats, if I indeed get chosen?

Name: Salvatore "Sal" Dirgetail Race: Human Class: Monk Backstory explaining the character and how they got to Deastok: Sal came to Deastok to get away from his past. His family were fiend-worshipers who initiated him into the practice as well, as a young man, and taught him a few spells. But the first time he was actually present for the summoning ritual, he recoiled from the vile presence and fled. He is now haunted by the experience and feels dirtied by the momentary contact. Not trusting clerics and their gods, whom he sees as little different from the monsters his family worshiped but with better PR, he joined a monastery to try to cleanse himself by meditation, self-denial and humility.

Edit: can I use point buy or reroll? These are bad rolls.
Backstory: Princess Reese is the ruler of the SaltBreeze Kingdom, a peninsula in the Six Lands of Shimeria and home to a sea filled with so much salt, you can feel the salt on your face 50 miles from the sea. She enjoys reading books, especially the occasional spellbook she finds in the library. Knowing her kingdom inside and out, she occasionally sneaks out the castle balcony to spy on adventurers, but 8/10 times, she ultimately gets caught by her father. Five years after her mother's disappearance, her father was murdered by two dwarf brutes. After getting helped by a group of adventurers for the funeral, Reese heads out on her own adventure to explore the great big world out there. After many days of travel, her ship stumbled upon the shores of Deastock.

Name: Baern Raggard Race: Hill Dwarf Class: Artificer Backstory explaining the character and how they got to Deastok [developed from random rolls in the Heroic Chronicle]: Baern had been happy in Zadash. He would divide his time between researching lost alchemical knowledge at the Archive and experimenting in his own laboratory. Life in Zadash has been changing lately, though. First, there was the explosion at the Zauberspire. Second, there was the declaration of war. Third, the chaos hit closer to home when Baern returned one evening to find his laboratory had been ransacked. Since then, Baern has begun to suspect that he is being watched. Or is it just the stress of recent events? A holiday seemed in order, and Baern had heard that Deastok is lovely this time of year...
Name: Shim or Shimmer (Shimmer of Dark) Race: Tabaxi Class: Rogue Backstory explaining the character and how they got to Deastok: Shim is always on the move, town to town, region to region. He's a bit of a stray cat who just cannot settle down. Only partly due to his habits of stealing the shiny objects of those in power and the kisses of those wed to those in power. Until a town gets too hot and he has to move on, Shim can usually be found exploring the local taverns for his next mark, telling tall tales and listening to those of others.
(Background probably Charlatan or such, stats can be rolled whenever you wish...)

Using the roller here, reroll ones once. I’d prefer not to use the “under 70” option, but I’ll allow it if the scores are really bad.

I got a lot more responses much quicker than I expected. I am in the process of PMing the people I accepted. Thank you all for your submissions.
How many players are you taking in this game?
I am only taking 5, sorry
