MB's Waterdeep: Dragon Heist

Auric:

"...and your affiliation?  How did you come to be here?  Are you a member of their rival gang?" Auric continues to ask, but he shrugs at Mal as if to say he is welcome to try and pick the locks if he likes.  Of course, if this smooth-talking Tiefling wants Auric's help pulling chains out of the wall, he will need some more cooperation first.

"How exactly do I know that if I tell you you wont just leave me locked up here again?"

Rayner: " Can we do this latter? We might get visitor's and I don't want to join her on the wall, or the gutter Auric. We should let her actions speak for her."

"Right."

Mal'thrae attempts to pick the lock(s) holding Melody to the wall. (Thieves' Tools: 12)

Auric:

"Fine by me," replies Auric, nodding at Rayner, feigning nonchalance, then spinning quickly and looking directly into Melody's face, he whispers, "See to it that your actions do not cause us to regret our kindness," and moves to cover the next door.

Intimidation:  17

Melody laughs, "Oh, don't worry. I don't make a habit of betraying the people who are helping me."

Urukar frowns with a slightly confused expression on his face, as Mal'thrae mentions him to the tiefling.  "I have never met this demon-woman, so she cannot be referring to me."

He looks towards the door, and round the group.  "Let's get this over with..."

"I find that incredibly insulting," Melody says. "Just because I have infernal heritage doesn't mean I'm a demon!"

“...huh. Must be another half-Orc here then.”

Mal’thrae moves to the door, nodding to Urukar, and slowly opens it, then readies his shortbow to shoot if they see anything hostile on the other side.

Valen stands back, not really caring what they do with the teifling girl.  He leans against the wall, holding his glaive as he waits for them to decide.  Once she is freed he would glance over his shoulder to make sure his enemies are not sneaking up on him yet, then continue after the others. 

Urukar eyes the tiefling for a second, deciding that despite her protestations, she was indeed a demon.  He nods back to Mal'thrae and heads through the door, keeping low and quiet, greataxe at the ready.

Mal pops the shackles open easily, and Melody is free. Moving toward the door, you do hear voices and some shuffling around.

Opening the door, there are two figures with their backs to you, bending down and stuffing blankets in the crack of another door. They don't notice you. 

Mal'thrae looks at the two, taking a moment to contemplate, then looks toward his companions. He points toward them and subtly pantomimes throwing a javelin, shooting a crossbow, and casting a spell.

Assuming they agree:

He waits for the group to ready themselves, then pulls his shortbow out. He counts down from three on his fingers, then fires as the party (hopefully) unleashes a wave of attacks at the unsuspecting foes.

Shortbow Attack w/ Adv: 26 Damage: 22

It was a crit, too :(

"Zemk, Krentz," Melody walks into the room. "What are you guys doing?"

Valen frowns as this new person seems to be on speaking terms with these guys.  What sort of person did his companions add to their group?

The two jerk up and turn around. One is a duergar, and the rest of the party recognizes the other as the human that picked the fight in the Portal.

Who in the hells is them? He asks. And I thought Grum had you locked up?

"Ya... about that," Melody says, smiling a little too sweetly, "I've done a lot of thinking while I was chained up, and I've decided to forgive you all for your transgression. So if you'll just turn around and leave, and point me in the direction of where ever you decided to leave my poor Viol uncased and unprotected then maybe I won't let my new friends here kill you."

Auric:

Growing impatient with this conversation, Auric snarls, at both the Tiefling and the two gang members in the room, "Where is Floon!"

Intimidate:  23

Rayner: " Let's all calm down... We came here looking for Master Floon that was taken by mistake, so please, hand the man over to us."

Persuasion: 11

Valen leans his shoulder against the wall, waiting to see if these two know anything and keeping an eye out behind them to make sure they are not getting snuck up on.
