Van will take a moment to study the creature and then relay the information he knows. From a disembodied voice "It's another manifestation. Fire and acid won't harm it. I think just brute force or sonics will damage it but from the looks of the servant I wouldn't want to get any of it on me. Cold could be an option too" (process of elimination on the info gleaned about cold)
(I'm not sure how it's going to work with us taking time to ID it so if it moves in a way that this doesn't work let me know)
Van says "Stay 10' from it for just a sec." and he casts (becoming visible) Shatter. Damage: 21. Con 14 save for half.
He will then move back to give Anahn and Amandil room to go forward if they choose to.
While the group examines the creature, it rolls forward, at first slowly. It picks up speed, then settles 5' shy of the door, 10' away from Anahn on the grand hall side of the door. Another ooze rolls into view in the hall, stopping 25' from Anahn. A shield upon it clatters with the floor as it rolls, and it sits on the center of the black ooze. Both bob from side to side, hopping slightly.
Van casts his magic, able to hit both oozes with the spell. The floorboards rattle with the erupting sound, and the creature's bulges intensify and pop. Sploshes of black, bubbling ooze burst from them, the flames on both creatures vanishing in the moment they are hit by the spell. (CON saves: 13 & 8, failed, 13 doubled to 26 damage each) The flames resume flickering upon them.
Anahn and Amandil are up, followed by the oozes, identified as Black Ooze closer to the doorway, and the Shield Ooze behind the first.
ooc: faerie fire on both oozes. Dex save vs DC 13 or they are outlined in red light and all attacks against them have advantage.
Amandil considered shooting it until the other one came into view. Aiming to hit both of them with his magic, he cast a spell which should help them put an end to them quicker. He's heard horror stories about oozes and "black puddings" and didnt want to find out first hand how accurate they were.
Anahn sweeps his blades at the ooze in rapid succession. It moves with surprising speed, with dodge against his attack with a rapid roll. Anahn doesn't relent in another flurry, sweeping his second blade to slice the creature. (Anahn's attacks at disadvantage: 6 and 20: 1 hit, no critical. 5 damage)
Amandil's magic conjures glowing transparent orbs to float down from above the oozes. The one facing Anahn again rolls away from the descending orbs, but the Shield Ooze shifts the shield to absorb the orbs as it falls upon it. The Shield Ooze gains a blue outline. (DEX saves with advantage: nat 20 and 2, Shield Ooze succumbs to Faerie Fire, attacks will have advantage against Shield Ooze.)
The Black Ooze bounces once in a high hop, coming even with Anahn's head. When it merely touches the floor, it suddenly launches itself at him in a bullet-like dash. Anahn draws his blades raised too high, and the creature slams into Anahn's midsection. (Attack vs Anahn: Nat 20. 24 damage to Anahn) With a loud "oof", he expels the air in his lungs and staggers back, dropping to a knee with only one blade up, gasping for air. The ooze rebounds, and the flames upon it rise up higher.
Shield Ooze rolls up rapidly beside Anahn on his left, behind the wall, still bobbing back and fourth. Its flames remain small. _ is empty, - is the door, w is wall, O is ooze, A is Anahn. Van and Amandil are still on the great hall side of the open door.

Party is up. Black Ooze appears to be heavily damaged with Anahn's cut, while the Shield Ooze is merely damaged, 'bleeding' through its burst holes in its skin.
Anahn will spit out some blood onto the floor and grit his teeth in anger. He then takes a deep breathe in preparation before swinging his hardest at the Shield Ooze to his left, with a single swing from his right scimitar.
The party barrages the shield ooze with ray, blade and bolt, totaling 18 damage. It wavers as it attempts to ward the attacks, failing completely to do so, but holds in one peice.
The Black Ooze suddenly erupts with black flames, a wide and long burst engulfing the balcony near the door. Everyone DEX save DC 13, 21 fire damage. In the wake of the flames, a green must lingers.
The ooze launches itself at Anahn again but misses.

Anahn will grip his blades tightly until his knuckles are white with tension, then spring wildly into a flurry of attacks onto the Ooze that’d launched itself at him.
Anahn will expend a Superiority Die to Riposte and take an attack with his scimitar on the enemy who’d missed attacking him.

Van standing back up with smoke rolling off his armor is more pissed that he was taken unaware than he is concerned for his health. He figures the best way to help the party is to get rid of these things as quickly as possible. So even if it catches party members he'll move enough away to cast shatter but try to center it so it doesn't catch anyone in it's wake.
Anahan's bolt causes a burst of jelly to spread on the floor, and the ooze immediately starts to disapperate into nothing, leaving the shield to clatter face up, it's form now easily seen; a steel kite shield with a simple emblem of a black fortress with shadowed flames rising from it. Anahn shreds the other, its skin opening and spilling it's jelly readily. Even as Anahn finishes his flurry, the ooze disintegrates in the air, his final swipe finding almost no resistance. Van, about to cast another devastating shatter, is able to stop himself before using it up needlessly.
The green mist disperses harmlessly.
Coming down the stairs, a taller blue skinned Empyrean with a fine breastplate and a drawn rapier witnesses the end of the fight, another bark from a large dog issuing from above. The man slows and looks about at the bottom of the stairs, finding no other oozes. You see the armor hasn't been completely donned properly. His black hair is well trimmed, his frame just a little less bulky than the guards. In the grand hall, Varus emerges in the opening, still wearing his half-plate, holding up his pike. He looks to Ron, who is at the doors, opening them, to get the attention of the guards out front, whom apparently heard nothing. Varus rushes toward the stairs.
The man in the breastplate regards your group, easing himself as he sheathes his jewel encrusted rapier. "Adventurers indeed. You dealt with that in twenty two seconds. It took me fifteen to open my locked door."
"Your praise is appreciated" Van says as he wobbles on his feet "But maybe introductions can wait a moment. I expect you have healers here? I'd rather not embarrass myself by passing out at your feet"
As Varus rushes up behind the group, the man holds out a hand signaling for him to stop. "They've taken care of it. Will you send for Aelar? Have him bring a few scrolls of healing, please."
Varus looks to your burns, noting Amandil's relative lack of them, then to the fallen man. He pulls a glove and feels at the man's chest for a moment, then nods as he stands. "That was too quick. Are you sure there's no more? Once we're certain there is no more threat, Sir Razgerah, I'll do that."
Razgerah looks again down the hall to something beyond your vision in the haze, then back to Van, a brow raised. "Thank you, Captain Varus. If there is any more threat, they're willing to sit idle for the time being. Let's see to our guest's safety first."
As the guards come rushing through the front door at Ron's behest, Varus orders one to carry out Razgerah's wishes, whom continues to the 2nd floor west wing.
Anahn will wince at the severe wounds he’d sustained during the battle, just barely managing to keep himself up. Irritated at having to fight the beasts on their own when there’d apparently been a number of guards, Anahn will grit his teeth and call out to Sir Razgerah, “I appreciate the help but do you have any idea what the f*** just happened? What just attacked us and why was it in here in the first place?”
Checking to make sure his friends weren't in danger of collapsing, Amandil interrupted "Begging your pardon but before we talk, some of your men have been hurt by these... things." Amandil backtracked to where the man they saw earlier was and checked his condition to see if there's anything that he could do.
To Anahn's question, Razgerah shakes his head. "I've never seen oozes like that before. There have never been such issues unless there were visitors."
The man's burn was far more than he could take, dead within seconds of the ooze's attack. Razgerah looks down at the man, shriveling his nose a little at the smell of the burnt corpse. He points to the shield resting on the ground. "That's one of the treasures from the show room. It looks like ... Tiber, one of the servants... was checking on the treasures when one of those things attacked." He walks over to pick it up. "Some of the treasures possess intelligence, but they've never been able to do anything by themselves."
Varus comes forward to take the shield from Razgerah. "I'll put this away." He wastes no time, and goes toward the end of the hall with the shield. Razgerah looks past your group to see Van at the door, one of the guards closing it as he returns to his post.
"Mr. Pollando was raving about the end of the world yesterday. What circumstances bring you here?" He seems to regard you with some respect. At least, as much as he regards Varus, carrying himself with practiced dignity.
...Visitors? The question popped into Amandil's mind as he rose from his examination, but he set it aside. Anahn was severely hurt, though not dying, so he walked over to him and laid a hand on his shoulder briefly, casting his magic.
"We're adventurers, as you know. That is, we look for trouble and terminate it, for a reward. We encountered a creature at the guardpost, an aberration which seemed to come from a magic item by itself, without anyone activating it. And now we have seen two more. Do you have more magic items here? We should check on them to make sure they don't spawn monsters.
But first, we need rest and healing. If you don't mind...?"
