He seems confused for a moment, but silently nods to agree with Trixy's plan. He turns to hatch and replies in a quieter voice of an elven male, "I—I guess that means we should move up to try and negotiate? Maybe we could trick them into coming with us, and then have Trixy and that moving statue flank them for an attack? I r-really would not like to spend a good minute next to these creatures," his tone cracks slightly, but he manages to continue his reply to the end of the sentence. The Kenku ruffles his feathers around while sheathing his spear from his hands, and waits for Hatch's reply rather impatiently in his body language and expression being brought out.
"Perhaps, but I'd rather try and approach them with an honest offer first. An attempt in good faith is sometimes rewarded, and at least there's no worry about them not falling for a ruse. But if that doesn't work we shall try trickery. And if that doesn't work, we fight. But hopefully trying to barter will work. But first we must give our allies enough time to flank them just in case negotiations don't go well," Hatch said, resting a hand on T'yeeno's shoulder to reassure the Kenku.
(DM is still here, when you make your characters, starting cash is part of your background, so you all have some on hand, but not a lot.)
The group moves forward to the bushes, and since the pair of reptilians are locked in talk banter, they apparently do not notice, or care to. The 4 legged beast is sniffing the air, but also chewing on a bone.
the party then moves into flanking/negotiating position, yet still no sight of this human, poisoned or other, that they heard speak of.
"Perhaps a less antagonistic approach at first?" Hatch said to Malady as he stepped forward. Turning his attention to the reptilians he said, "We would like to make a trade for Gordi and his company, or whoever all you have." Hatch said this in Common before repeating it in Draconic.
The blue-crimson tip feathered Kenku brings the rear of the party engaging the reptilians, almost in attempt to not draw their gaze. He tries to compose himself, but loses much of his thoughts half-way, spouting out, "D-Don't try any funny tactics. W—we have gold that we could trade for this poisoned human, or I could even try to heal get them out of shape, yes, m-maybe," he says audibly with the imitated nervous human male voice.
He occasionally glances away from the reptilians to look at their surroundings, inactive in his approach to actively be on the look-out, but his keen eyes passively try to sense out dangers. He will also try to make sure his companions actually get in position beforehand, for fear of them being spotted immediately.
Using my Passive Perception of 15, what do I see in the parameter?
very startled the 3 creatures all jump, the big one bringing his weapon to bear on melady and hatch, the small one ducking for some cover behind a rock, bringin his ranged weapon to bear also, first at melady, then to Tyeeno. the 4 legged beast growls.
after hearing the words spoken, in a variety of languages, the big one replies "What gold?, we werent told anyone would be coming by for the human"
"You weren't told no - but why else take him if not for gold? You have him, we want him, the question then is one of how much will you part with him for?" Hatch said, trying to keep things simple, civil, and open to negotiations. "So, are you open to making a deal?"
The Kenku shifts to being silent as they bargain, slowly does their hand creep up to the spear, firmly grasping it whilst trying to hide his attempt. His body language indicates he is quite uncomfortable around these folk, and are uninterested in continuing further discussion. He leaves the rest to his companions, to which he uses this time to pay attrntion to their surroundings, acting as a sort of bodyguard even though he stands behind Hatch and Melady. Nonetheless, he continues his watchful gaze around the clearing of the swamp they are in.
Seeing Obelysk, Trixy smiles and whispers, "Ok, I have some spells that work at a long distance." Ooc: Trixy is making sure to be in range of 60ft.
"I can't hear them from here, but looking at T'yeeno, it may not be going so well." She pulls out a dagger and holds her pan pipes to use as spell focus instead of her bagpipes to keep from making too much noise. "Just in case." And smiles again at Obelysk reassuringly.
The larger one looks to the smaller one, the smaller one whispers (roll perception, if you get a 15, you can hear what he says, otherwise, assume you only saw them talking)
"He probably wont last the night, the way he is going, so see how much you can get and we can just say he died, and we threw him in the swamp, yes?"
The larger one turns to you, and says, "how much is he worth to you? Otherwise, be on your way"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Woot! 16!)
"He's worth more than a fair coin to me, but I won't pay if you intend to lie that he's dead and have me scour the swamp on a goose chase. By your own words he's dying and might not survive the night. I imagine his carcass is of no use to you, otherwise he'd already been slain. Act in honest faith with us, bring him to us, and you can still make a profit. But I won't offer any gold until you bring him here where we can see."
The Kenku is unable to hear the reptilians' speech traded among themselves, focused on keeping his weapon, the draconic-toothed spear, at hand via its lower shaft. He grips it with one hand with quite a dextrous feat, having the spear barely unsheathed but hidden under a portion of his monk attire.
"I second that, I—I believe," T'yeeno adds, the same voice being used. He seems not to be well-suited for the current situation, but tries to add-on more of an effect on Hatch's words that ends up lingering on his own thoughts rather than working as intended.

Ill walk in the direction of Trixy. When I get close enough to spot her, I'll use my merge with stone ability to move up to range without sound.

"Hey ugly and uglier, where is this human you were talking about?" Melady asks, stepping into view.
"Perhaps a less antagonistic approach at first?" Hatch said to Malady as he stepped forward. Turning his attention to the reptilians he said, "We would like to make a trade for Gordi and his company, or whoever all you have." Hatch said this in Common before repeating it in Draconic.

His perception roll: Perception: 18
The Kenku is unable to hear the reptilians' speech traded among themselves, focused on keeping his weapon, the draconic-toothed spear, at hand via its lower shaft. He grips it with one hand with quite a dextrous feat, having the spear barely unsheathed but hidden under a portion of his monk attire.
"I second that, I—I believe," T'yeeno adds, the same voice being used. He seems not to be well-suited for the current situation, but tries to add-on more of an effect on Hatch's words that ends up lingering on his own thoughts rather than working as intended.
The bigger one whispers to the smaller one, and then (after i rolled perception tests against everyone to see if you could hear them), he says
"50 gold pieces and you can have him"
he briefly looks to the pit, both before and after the words are spoken, all in draconic.
the smaller one grasps his javelin more tightly
"Fine," Hatch says, loosening his money pouch. "We'll hand over the gold at the same time you hand over Gordi, agreed?"
the big reptile nods to the smaller one
"the little one will confirm your money, and then we will get Gordi"
"Confirm, but not take. I won't hand it over till you're handing him over," Hatch said, holding out the 50 gold coins for 'confirmation'.
the little one moves forward (is there indeed 50 gold coins to show him?) he has his javelin held out like a spear, cautious he will be attacked.
the 4 legged beast steps foward and growls, also apparently awaiting an ambush.
the big one stands his ground, and awaits the little ones feedback.
