"Can't say that I know many workshops that need a tall one, but I can say that for adventurers, best way to check for work is to talk with our Watchmaster. Bram would be in the tavern, drinking with his men right now." The gnome looks up to the upper city as a few fireworks go off. "Once you enter the upper part of the city, just head to the noisiest place."
Dice is happy to hear about adventuring possibilities "Well adventuring is what I seem to do whether I'm getting paid or no. I thank you very kindly my friend this will be most helpful. My life is a continual set of adventures from place to place anyway and if someone is in need of help, and even willing to pay for it, I'm happy to learn more." Dice pauses to look at his new acquaintances. "Anyone else with adventuring skills. My experience tells me that assignments of this type usually require more than one skilled adventurer. I'm heading to find this Bram fellow in the tavern and anyone who wants to join me is welcome."
"I will show you the way," said Isoby, covering her face with the scarf again. She did not specified if it mean she is going to join whatever job Watchmaster could suggest (and doubted he would be actually capable to talk coherently by the time they find him) but she intended to help newcomers to find their (of his, if others would not join) way.
As the others begin to walk toward the cliff side, the cloaked figure hesitates and gazes skyward at the diffused glow of the brighter of the two moons through the mist. After a couple heartbeats, the figure follows, the skirt of her cloak scraping the ground.
“This one will join you Mr.Dice and follows lady Isobi’s guidance” Following along Sky turns to the half-orc and the heavily cloaked figure that popped out of now where. “Forgive this ones poor hearing but your names this one missed.”
Dice throws his hood over his head again and laughs "So If I heard correctly you are Sky? Well Sky, I'm Dice to my friends. To those less familiar with me I'm Mr. Maantell." Dice pronounces his last name as if saying "gone tell" but with an m instead of a g. "And yes, we haven't heard the names of all the others here?"
(I'm assuming everyone is walking and talking towards the upper district.)
The peace of the evening is shattered by the deafening crack of a massive explosion that rocks the southeast part of the city. At the base of the mountain, shards of rock spray the street a hundred yards from where you stand. Heavy smoke billows from a cavernous hole in the mountain wall. As you shake the ringing from your ears, six cloaked figures appear in the street, running from the source of the explosion—and charging straight toward you!
The tavern was still relatively far away and Isobi tried to entertain guests of the city by pointing random (and barely seen in the darkness) landmarks, when the running group appeared. Even if the cloaked figures were gnomes (were they?), a gnomish stampede is still a stampede. Isombi did the only thing a reasonable person would do - stepped aside and tried to "hug the wall".
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dice will move to the shadows as well but will use some special magic to create a glowing form with hands on its hips in the middle of the road about 30 feet from them and directly in front of the approaching cloaked figures. A few moments later, when the clocked ones are close enough to hear he will send magical sound to go with the glowing form. The sound will say "Who are you and what is the meaning of this outrage! What happened to the mountain?" stealth roll if needed: 11
Dornik, who had remained quietly to the rear of the group to this point, jumps at the sound of the explosion, ears ringing and mind reeling. "Why is it always me?" he growls softly before tucking his large form against the wall (Stealth: 15), ready to defend himself or his tiny draconic companion with force if needs be.
The cloaked group gives no pause as Dice's illusion sounds out. As they start to pass, only five of them are about the size of gnomes, but have a tail following them. The one that easily stood out, was the one that was taller than all of them. Easily more than 6 feet tall and ran faster than them. They all head past the group, seemingly heading for the city exit. And as a few workshops and houses start to open their doors and turn on their lights. The tall cloaked one raises their fist and a fog starts to pour out from it. It obscures the cloaked group as gnomes start to head towards the commotion.
"Muunrhuuch," the cloaked figure mutters. As the fog starts covering retreating figures, she looks toward the hole in the base of the mountain and then begins walking in that direction.
The commotion was over and Isobi immediately turned to Dice: "How did you do it?!" She waved her hand in the direction of illusion - passing group (tails? no taller than a gnome? kobolds, may be) could ignore the spectacle, but Isobi was very impressed. "Illusion, right? I do know some magic ... well, more like magic knows me, but can not do anything big like this. Tried to learn - did not work out, though..." She sighed. "What else can you do?" Her eyes were now shining with curiosity. "You can show in the tavern, it's close now, this way" if the group (Dice at least) still wanted to see the Watchmaster, she was still eager to show the way.
Dice is frustrated that they were not able to learn more about this group that passed them. Turning to Isobi he says "I'm sure you have learned a trick or two of your own. You gnomes are the most clever of any race I have meet in the past. I just used a few low level tricks but the impressive part was putting them together. That always surprises people." He pauses and watches as the bugbear heads towards to where the explosion took place. "We should probably help our friend there and see if anyone is hurt." He follows.
There's a moment before Dornik grumbles and follows suit. "If this gets pinned on us, there'll be a steep price to pay, and people are going to be looking for someone to blame. Had it happen before, not looking forward to repeating that experience. " Despite the complaints, however, his natural speed and longer stride bring him to the front of the pack, curiosity getting the best of him.

Once she reaches 50 feet from whatever was blasted into the mountain, the cloaked figure begins blending in with the shadows as best she can as she continues to approach.
