(Gonna roll a d20 to see the Dragonborn’s reaction)
20 (dang okay)
Looking at the bloodied mess of the bodies scattered around and the pure fear for their leader’s life makes the Dragonborn pity these bandits. And the thought of killing those who have surrendered just doesn’t sit right in his mind. Turning towards the Bard he calls,
“Lady, please end the spell. It’s not right to kill those who won’t fight back anymore.”
If she does as he asks he’ll go back to the cart to search for rope to tie them up after he asks the Paladin,
”Could you watch them for a second?”
As he does so, he runs his chest where the mark is, thinking, What in the world is the Crimson Pride, and why are they so scared?
The Kobold on the other hand does not seem thrilled about letting them go. His instincts tell him that letting an enemy go only means that they will come back later. He shakes the thoughts away as he lowers his crossbow slightly but not enough that he can't fire it if the bandits make any sudden movements.
The Dwarf woman stares at the man a moment longer. Her face curled in disgust, then she raises her hand and ends the spell, cutting the flow of power it. She stomp backs and sits by the wagon and starts to clean herself up but not before saying, "Do with them what you will."
Hearing the enemy back down and the title "crimson pride" the elf instantly backs down. "Agreed, of course"
He looks over the bandits and the captain to make sure they dont try anything.
The thoughts race thru the elfs mind: gang, crimsion pride, what am i? What are we? He sits behind the 3 (there only 3 bandits left correct?) so they do not have eyesight on him (if possible). He noticed they recognized his armor. He starts to clean himself off and takes a closer look at the armor he was wearing. (I assume he noticed the lion head in flame eariler when putting on his armor) Crimson like Blood and Flames, Pride or group like that of a lion.
The Dragonborn sees the Kobold with the crossbow wanting to fire and holds up the rope he found in the cart in an attempt to ease his concerns.
”Little Dragon, could you help me tie them up please? It would be faster, and we can get some answers about who we are. Don’t worry about not finishing them off. Apparently we’re something called the Crimson Pride, and the moment they knew that, they were too scared to fight us anymore. I think we’ll be fine with this group at least.”
If the Kobold accepts they’ll go to the new prisoners and take their armor and weapons before tying them up. He tries to not kill the leader on accident.
”Now that we’re here, you will tell us everything you know about the Crimson Pride. Lie to us about your knowledge and I’ll let the Lady and the Little Dragon have their way. From what I’ve seen, the Lady really doesn’t like you specifically.” (Looking at the leader)
The Captain shivering from the pain and fear, confused he looks back towards his men and shrugs. “Guess they like to get off hearing their reputation before they kill their victims.” One of the bandits whimpers.
The Captain speaks up “You’re ..... You’re the group that gets called in when someone wants to make sure the job gets done right. Mercs for hire, willing to do any job. Word is the reason why you’re not all dead yet is you do the royals dirty work for them when they need it.” He looks over each on of you “There is The Holy Man” as his head brings his head to the side, locking eyes with the Kobold. Turning his head to the dwarf “The Actress”. Looking directly up to the Dragonborn “Their Captain, the Shadow.” .....and finally looking to the elf. “Well stories say there is a human male that goes along too, so either the story is wrong or you must be new. Supposed to be their heavy hitter. What was his name?....”. His thought trails off for a second. “Silas! His name was Silas. But you.... look familiar, yeah I know you.” He looks back to his men “Boys, you know who we have here?”
One of the bandits chirps up “our executioner?”
The second spits out “You’re.... you are Prince Ariafirla.” “Ha ha! That’s right! The missing prince parading around with the baddest mercs this side of Hrothgar.”
A sudden vision... a memory comes back to the elf. He looks over the edge to see himself falling over a balcony.... falling to his death. Wearing dress robes very similar to the ones he has on now. A sense of panic washes over him as he quickly closes his eyes.
The rest of the group sees the elf take a new form, instantly turning into a human of same height and stature, but wearing normal chainmail and brown cloak. Long blond hair and brown eyes.
The Captain laughs one more time “Yeah, that’s about right..... Silas.”
The Kobold frowns and moves to help tie them up even though he keeps his crossbow at the ready at a times. As he is called the holyman he moves forward and presses the crossbow to the bandit's chest. "You will explain why you called me this. My instincts want me to put this to use."
The elf now human sees his longer blonde hair over his shoulders "Silas.." he whispers to himself. He looks over to the dragonborn now known to him as the Shadow, the captain and approaches him. "Shadow, may i have a word?" And starts to walk toward the wagons out of earshot of the badits.
The Dragonborn is lost in thought, thinking over these new names for him and his companions. The Holy Man, the Actress, the Prince of this country Ariafirla. And him, the Captain of this band, the Shadow. None really fit what he knew. The little dragon didn’t seem very holy, regardless of loss of memory. The Lady Dwarf seemed to have a strong personality, but maybe she hadn’t acted in front of them yet. The Prince, that was ridiculous! Why would a prince be traveling with what seemed to be a merciless band of enforcers? In regards to him, he was hardly a shadow, and... at the thought of shadow, a feeling came to him, something about the dark, something just out of his reach. Something like a power. He had to think more on this later. Following the elf, Silas? Ariafirla? Prince? He leaves the prisoners to the little dragon and the Lady.
He looks nervous. "I know this is a lot, on top of what we already cant remember. Me, a prince, i almost dismissed it, but..." he takes a deep breath "as soon as the captain said my true name... a vision, a memory came to me. I tell you this because for now i know you as the leader of this group." He squares his shoulders and looks shadow in rhe eyes "I saw myself falling off of a balcony, i think someone made an attempt on my life." he puts his hands to his head and shakes his head "if my true self is to be secret, im not sure we can trust these bandits not to run their mouths." he takes a large sigh.
The bandit Captain squints one eye at the kobold. “Shit, I don’t know how you got your name, why don’t you tell me? We only know what stories are told in the taverns and By traveling mercs. Just figured you were a cleric of some kind.” He spits some blood on the ground.
Looking back at the bandits, the Dragonborn sighed. “Well what would you have me do? I may be the apparent leader of a band of mercenaries, but I’m not going to kill three people who have surrendered to us.”
Turning back to Silas? Ariafirla? he considers the illusory man in front of him.
”I can’t remember anything from before, but even I can see a holy paladin’s magic smite and guess what you are. I’ve heard that paladins can cast some spell to make people tell the truth. Do you think you can do that now? If they truthfully say they won’t reveal your identity, we will let them live, with fair compensation from them. They can’t get away with attacking apparently the best mercenaries on this continent after all.”
"thats why i wanted to speak with you. I dont necisarily want to kill an enemy who surrendered either." he looks to the dragonborn and raises his eyebrow questionly. "I will try this truth spell. I want to ask them some questions about the missing prince and the royals, maybe it will help put some puzzle pieces together, they wouldnt be able to lie about it, but they may have the ability to dance around the truth a little bit." He thinks to the possible answers he might hear and shivers. "Maybe we should let the others know of the plan?
”Little Dragon, my Lady, could you come over here please?”
If they come he will try to explain the plan as quickly as possible so they can do it. Thinking about it, Shadow asks them,
”Do you think it’s a good idea? Also, would you prefer to be called something else? Lady, Actress, something you pick? And Little Dragon, what would you like to be called?”
The dwarf moves in closer after being called. She listens to plan and smile. "I think that is a swell plan. Any additional information would be well worth it. As for my name, umm... let's go with." She looks around for a moment and sees her bagpipes. "Call me Lady Piper, or Lady or Piper. Definitely Lady Piper for formal occasions," she says.
Bowing to the dwarf, Shadow returns her smile and says,
”Very well, Lady Piper, shall we go see if these ruffians will tell the truth or not? I hope the little dragon hasn’t poked them too hard with that bolt. It just might kill them.”
Looking at the Paladin, Shadow says quietly,
”I think that disguise should be kept up for now, Silas. Just in case we see anyone else. Don’t want them to see you for who you are for now, okay?”
Silas moves forward and let’s the energy flow through him. Casting zone of truth.
