Silas nods to Shadow, " Yes, I would like to come with you. Hopefully there will be a tavern as well." He gathers his things together and gets ready to head into town.
As you make your way into town. It’s immediately clear that Rorikstead, while a fairly large town.... isn’t an impressing one. The houses are constructed of wood and stone, but show heavy weathering and most in need of repairs. The people in the streets look to be hardy, working folk. Brown leathers and linens, nothing flashy or elegant about the attire of the people. It doesn’t look as they get outsiders much, or at least outsiders that look as capable as the party does. Despite feeling confident you’ve hidden all the logos, it’s hard to shake the feeling of all eyes on you.
There are two story buildings in town. One has a gate and fence around it, while having one “guard” sitting outside. The other look more weathered, but shows a sign hanging from iron rings. “Frostfruit Inn”
Splitting up and heading to the back edge of town, walking pass dilapidated housing and shacks. You come across a staircase that heads downward. The stairs lead between two retention pond looking structures. Intense steam coming off both bodies of water. Rorikstead looks to be a mining town, whatever geothermal activity seems to use these ponds to help cool off the land.
At the water you see people collecting water, scraping the edges as white mineral foam begins to build up, it looks as though the reservoirs are man made.
Walking to the inn you see a line of humans and dwarves sitting at the bar, all dressed down to their undergarments and covered head to toe in soot and dirt.
A Halfling woman with light blond hair is working behind the counter.
At the mine, a portly looking old man sits asleep in a chair at the bottom of the steps, a pick axe rests besides him.
The Halfling woman stops what she’s doing, “well I’ve never seen you lot before. Welcome to Rorikstead. We got a few rooms up stairs. Two rooms.... or you uh, looking to share? Dinner is available throughout the evening. Boris goes out huntin in the Morning, fresh game and catch each day.... hopefully.” The people at the bar are too involved in their drinks and meal to pay attention to you. They look as though they’ve had a hard days work and just looking to relax a bit.
Lady, still in her armor but having it appear to be some well traveled common clothes, joins the inn at driver's side. Following up behind the others she hears the ending about food. "Did I hear the lady say something about food? I'm quite famished."
She turns to the lady and say, "Miss, is there any way we could come to a deal? Maybe some food in exchange for music?"
Shadow looks a little amused at the prospect of sharing a bed with Silas when Piper and Driver walk up.
“There’s actually four of us, but if you have one with two beds that should work for me and the man. (Turning towards Driver) You don’t sleep right? Do you need a bed?”
When Piper asks about the entertainment, Shadow says,
“We will still pay for our room of course, but you should here her play! She’s very good, one of the reasons we’re traveling together.”
(trying to assist her in case of needed persuasion)
Silas smile goes into a nervous one, he doesn't know about sharing a bed, but sharing a room with the Dragonborn is just fine. He nods to Shadow in agreement and thumbs back toward tables and says to the group "I'm going to grab us a table."
He looks around the room. If there is a table where we will not be disturbed by other patrons but not seeming suspicious, that will be the table he heads to.
(I mean you actually haven’t heard her play. Technically it would be deception, lol)
”well well” she says with a grin. “Folks around here could use some entertainment every once and a while. ‘Round here we like both kinds of music, folk and folk-western. Are usual prices are 1 gold a day per person that includes meals and a bed. We have a small stable round back for the horses. Animals are 2 gold per day. Let’s say word gets out that there is an entertainer here and we get a packed house tonight. You keep them happy enough to stay drinking..... we’ll call it even. Can you play tomorrow, say 8 o clock?”
There is a table on the other side of the tavern, next to a small corner stage. Good vantage point and away from other patrons.
Lady turns to the others, "Do we know how long we will be here in town? If its more than a night I think she proposes a fair offer but if we are hitting the road in the morning, then not much there to offer. Thoughts?"
“Well, we need to look for some information anyway, so I’d accept. Not every day you get to play to a crowd!”
Shadow also heads to the table and talks quietly to Silas as Piper finishes up her agreement with the halfling. When everyone sits down, he’ll get their attention and start to lay out the plan he’d come up with.
”So we have no clue who we are besides you Silas, and no clue how we got together. As far as I can see we need something to tell us where to go.We’ll look for any clues regarding the Crimson Pride in town. If we don’t find any, we look for a job that offers some money for travel and move on until we find something concrete about us. Anyone have any additional points that we should talk about?”
Slilas looks to Shadow with hunched shoulders and head down as if in shame. He has been caught up in the thoughts of his own situation since he found out and not as much the group. "I agree that is a good idea."
The floor begins to shake beneath your feet. The glasses begin to rattle, as a plate falls off the counter. The tavern keeper “Ah, shit! Here we go again!” As she begins trying to get the place from not falling apart. The men at the tavern just moan and continue on. After about thirty seconds it dies down.

Is the steam what was causing the smoke appearance?

Yes, the steam rises in large billowing towers that reach out into the sky.
Walking up to the counter, Shadow greets the halfling woman. Smiling as politely as a dragonborn can he says,
”Hello, we’ve just driven into town and we are looking for a place to stay. Do you have rooms available? And perhaps some dinner?”
Silas walks up with Shadow, standing at his side. He smiles politely as well at the halfling woman.

Driver, satisfied about the smoke appearance, rejoins the others in the inn
