Wash keeps it going acting appalled "Tried to imprison you? Whatever for? You have to excuse my ignorance, I haven't lived in Hupperdook for that many years. I'm sure with all the conflicts going on at the moment they could do with the help of a master inventor like yourself and would forgive past indiscretions - if any."
Those...worthless imbeciles. They could never appreciate the true value of science. Of progress!
He looks you over. Hmmm. The dragonborn is good for fodder, I suppose. But you, you are a man of science, I know it. Yes. You could be of use. Work with me and my team. Help us correct the addled vision of Hupperdook’s future and the future of this wretched empire. Wealth and power await those who prove useful to the destined victors of this war. What do you say?
Balassar just smiles at the mans comment, his eyes narrowing into a glare "Mate, you've got it wrong. I'm not the fodder..." he just raises his sword bashing it on the shield as he lets out a loud roar "I'm the can'on."
Now, keep away from me. You, doctor... whatever, keep your pet on its leash! This is a serious discussion between educated persons. I won't have any further interruptions.
He seems somewhat intimidated, and nervous about Balassar's presence, but the conversation is continuing.
The war is coming. Soon, soon. Maybe it has already started, yes? Maybe we will start it now. These fools, they limit themselves, they put shackles on their greatest minds, have them working on nonsense, harmless idiocies. But in Xhorhas, yes, there the true mind can be unleashed. I have seen and I know, you see.
(As a reminder, there is currently no war between the Empire and Xhorhas that you have heard of. The two neighbours are far from being friends, and there are frequent border skirmishes, but it is odd for this man to talk of war in this way.)
Wash, realising the benefit of getting more information, says "I think my dragonborn friend here and I both want to be on the winning side of the war. How can we help you? Oh, and should we move into your chamber to discuss this further?"
If Huron starts to react aggressively OR if Balassar starts to move towards him, Wash casts Charm Person on Huron before anyone actually starts fighting (so he doesn't get advantage on his WIS13 save).
Balassar just snarls as he is called and pet and at the mention of Xhorhas he begins to love foreword. His blade raises as he lets out a roar moving slowly “I was going to make a lot of money off you, though now...I’ll skin you for free traitor.”
[I assumed that would be Balassar's reaction, hopefully I can Charm Person before they begin fighting.]
Wash calls out to Balassar "Balassar, please give me a minute longer to talk to Huron, I can make it worth your while. Think of all the money we could make!!!"
Balassar just glared at Wash, the bloodlust in his eyes displaying that this was a personal vendetta for the Dragonborn “Some things money can’t buy mate and this is one of them. If you side with him, your head is next for my blade.”
Having a realization of what Wash is trying to do Alton pops out of his hiding spot and moves to be in front of Balassar and holds his hands out; his back turned to Huron. "Settle down Balassar. Let hear out this nice man's offer. Perhaps in a less hostile environment." He gives Balassar a wink, "We would get a steady paying job and a cool hideout to stay in as a bonus. Doesn't that sound like a much better gig than hoping to pick up odd jobs in the city." He winks again at Balassar hoping that he will get the hint.
Alton will then turn to face Huron, "Many apologize sir. Our friend here is a bit hot tempered and is very... goal oriented. I'm sure we all would love to hear your proposal in a more comfortable setting; such as the lovely bedroom we came through. I think we are all very impressed by the suit of armor you are in and are having second thoughts about this venture."
(OOC: Alton has an idea of what Wash is up to and decides to add his assistance.)

Huron Stahlmast's WIS save: 6
Though he reacted with alarm as you started to cast the spell, the magic takes effect and his expression relaxes. Well, as your halfling friend says, there are many positive benefits to joining the cause. You know, I should really introduce you to Ishel, he can talk you through the political matters better than I.
He starts to clamber out of the clockwork armour, apparently deciding to ignore Balassar, at least for the moment.
Huron stops moving, still perched on top of the clockwork armour though no longer within it. What an irritating lizard. My dear friend, he says to Wash, would you like me to kill it for you? I can, and quite easily I assure you. I do understand the inclination to keep a beloved childhood pet around, but a clean break is for the best.

Indiscretions? Indiscretions!!??

[Wash looks for Balassar's reaction at being called fodder and lets the question hang until someone else makes a move.]
Alton glances over at Balassar as he listens to the conversation between Wash and Huron; but keeps hidden in his little spot.

Wash says "Why do you say that the empire won't be the victors of the war, pray tell?"
He also gives the side eye to Balassar when he gets called a pet, with a look of 'are you going to take that insult?'

Wash nods "Yes, we are all friends here" [He cast Charm Person as soon as it looked like there was going to be a fight, so hopefully it worked.]

Balassar just looks at his companions in disgust “I’ll die before helping Xhorhasian scum. Even if it means I have to kill all of you traitors.”
He begins to back away trying to position wash, Alton and Huron for his breath attack.
Wash stage whispers to Balassar "Everything is not what it seems, wait until we are in the next room and we can talk. Think it through!"
Alton heads back down the tunnel to Huron's bedroom to see if Yinra is still there and to tell her, what Alton thinks, Wash's plan.
