Symon Twist, so called because he has a twisted spine, is rumored to have been the git of one of the Grand Duke's daughters; seems she was somewhat indiscrete you could say. But that is just a rumor so far as anyone really knows. All Symon Twist knows for sure is that the streets of Baldur's Gate are all he has ever known; well, that is not entirely true, he was raised in a charity house - so called, more like a thrall farm to be sure - by rather unfeeling folk, but that part of his life is not too germane to his present situation. What is important is that he is a roguish fellow, and pretty good at it.
Fairly new to 5e PbP but not to the game itself. The longest game I played PbP, years ago, ran for almost four years; presently the longest game I am in has been running for a bit more than a year. I am a dedicated player, post regularly (with occasional lapses due to plagues, wars, and events of a similar nature), and a stout companion (well.....jewels do glitter brightly) to those I adventure with. I am not in the habit of assailing a DM's authority, but will present concerns for their ajudication, make mistakes, correct them and, play to have fun.
D&D experience: I played both the rpg at the table and the PC games of BGate and Neverwinter nights. I have been playing in this website for over 1 year but unlickly I didn't find (apart for one case) a campaign were everybody did not just disappear or has been cancelled.

Character Name: Tabitha
Race: Tiefling
Class: Warlock, Fiend patron
Background: Sage
Alignment: Lawful Good
D&D experience: A few years of in person campaigns, both as a player and as a DM. I have about a year of constant PBP experience.
Backstory: Tabitha is a schoolteacher, and teaches at a small primary school in Baldur's Gate. What her students don't know, however, is that Tabitha has capabilities far beyond teaching children to read and spell. Tabitha met a small band of demonic children on her travels when she was a younger woman. She bonded with them and took them under her wing. Since then she has been acting as a teacher and mother to them and insisted on giving them an education. In exchange, the children see it as their duty to protect her, even if only through allowing her to tap their powers.
Balthazar grew up in a remote elven village in the center of a forest and spent moste of his youth trying not to to die of boredom. When he was 24, his talent for magic became apparent, when he set fire to the local townhall in an incident that he would call an "accident". When a wandering wizard passed thru the village and took him as an apprentice, both he and the rest of the village folk were relieved beyond measure. Unfortunately, the wandering wizard turned out to be boasting beyond his capabilities and when Balthazar had the impression he had learned everything his Mentor knew, he took of to find more knowledge, more power and a more thrilling life.

Dench Thokk
Half-orc
War Cleric
Haunted One
Lawful Good
I’ve played PBP for about the last year. I have also DMed many one-shots and a completed Tomb of Annihilation campaign face-to-face over the last two years.
Dench was raised from early adolescence in the temple of Lathander in Baldur’s Gate. He was brought there by adventurers who had “freed” him from his tribe. The clerics raised him as well as they could, but the influence of his mother, an Eye of Gruumsh, is stronger than they suspect. Dench still has all the superstitions his mother taught him. He’s noticed, for example, that the dents in his shield make the sunrise of Lathander look, in dim light, like the unblinking eye of Gruumsh. Gruumsh and the barbaric rage Dench sometimes feels are his biggest fears.
D&D experience: I've only played in a few campaigns (none of which went very far), but I am pretty familiar with the rules.
After being born under a dark star, Coelfrid always felt an immense, supernatural burden placed upon him. After putting up for it for too long, he set out to find answers, scouring the planes for any knowledge that would aid him. He figured a bustling city like Baldur's Gate might give him some clue on where to look.
I will close the thread to submissions tomorrow at 12pm EST. At that time, I will make my picks and invite the chosen to a group pm to prepare for the campaign. All I will say is that having a character sheet link in your submission can only help you.
Another smuggler, sailor or a drunk stole his ship when he was celebrating his recent success. Now he's stuck in the city till he can find the thief and set sail once more.
D&D Experience: I've been playing 5e for 4-5 years. Mostly as a player, though I've taken my first tentative steps into DMing
Backstory
A Baldurian by birth, Mandida was born into a well-off merchant clan, showing an aptitude for the arcane at a young age. Poised to join the ranks of court mages among the nobility, her path was thrown off course when she met her husband Trohiem, a retired solider-turned sailor down on his luck. The two fell madly in love with each other, Mandida abandoning her magical pursuits to open a trading post/tavern which the couple ran together. With Mandida's natural business sense and her husband's connections among the trading ships, their shop, The Gilded Gallion thrived for over two centuries, during which time the couple started a large family of their own.
All was going well, until the day Trohiem disappeared without a trace or warning. Distraught, Mandida and the Ironrend's spent months searching for him, with zero success. The business on the decline without Trohiem's connections, the future looked bleak. Nearly a full year after her husband's disappearance and her store on it's last legs, Mandida awoke one morning to find a neatly sealed letter on her nightstand, the edges of the note slightly singed. The letter itself was written in a language she did not recognize and the seal didn't belong to any of the families of Baldur's Gate. But she did know the signature scrawled on the bottom. Trohiem's signature.
Dusting off her old spell book and donning her husband's rusted armor, Mandida left The Gilded Gallion in the care of her children and her children's children, her mind focused on a single goal: To bring her love back home.

Tybault Roseoak - Human v (actor) - Monk - Charlatan
Tybault is a warrior in training for the Night School, an organization which trains men and women, and prepares them to fight anything with nothing. Tybault is a novice, and is looking for that next step to victory over anything, by any means. And now that means learning to find and work with allies.
