Brocc stares bug-eyed at the robe. "That.. that is... I only heard tale of such a robe. To think it... My word!" For a second there, it looked as if the aged gnome might launch himself at Johnson just to grasp the thing; but, he managed to stop short and instead rubbing his head. "I had always dreamed of possessing such a robe. But if I were to be honest, even /I/ thought it would remain as such." He admits.
Brocc then looks between the robe and staff in hand at least thrice over before holding the staff out to Symon. "Here. You are a strange fellow, but I think you would make more use of this then I at this juncture. It will take time to attune to it, of course, or so I remember. It's... been a while since it was entrusted to me. And now, I entrust it you, and you should, for I think I will avail myself of the Robe." Brocc looks to Johnson. "If you do not mind, of course. I'll need to put my armor away in your bag or some as well." He then turns to turns to Etrusca. "A most gracious thanks to as well for affording us the relative safety of this area. A truly most appreciated gesture. It would also be a good time to avail with you stories of the outside, if you so wish. Perhaps there may be entertainment there for you, hm?"

Etrusca lets out a mighty laugh after the cloak is pulled out from the pile. "Oh boy! That would stick in his craw if Keraptis knew that had been here." Ahhhaahhaa haaahaa. "Well this has been a truly rewarding time spent with you but you should probably be on your way. Adventure awaits, as they say"
Symon smiles as he fondles the staff, "Ah, excellent; with this we shall have another, very potent aide in our quest. Thank you again Master Brocc." "Indeed, Simon, Indeed. Uh hu-hum, mn, yes. Indeed!" Brocc lightly punches Symon on the leg, then turns to Etrusca. "Lady Etrusca, it is has been a most honest pleasure. May next when we pass through here, we come with some manner of interesting or good news for you, mn? Until then, my Lady." Brocc bows formally, and then started leading the way down the right path. Whereas at first he feared the robe might drag along the ground, once it shrunk with attunement, he found himself quite enjoying having the comfy robes on hand. Granted, he was no bereft of his staff, and would have to resort to the more mundane.
And yet, he carried on unbothered and genuine trust in Symon making proper use of it. And if he didn't, well, the elf-ish man wasn't too old for a proper spanking from a gnome.

The waterlogged corridor stretches on ahead. The walls and ceiling are covered with a patchwork of algae and lichen. The floor is still covered in a foot of water and again walking takes more time. Although it is still lit the light is more dim here and you can't see further than 60' (unless you have an ability to the contrary)

Beyond this, he was content to trust Symon to really keep the sharp eye while he had his own eyes passively scanning the area ahead, the dark vision of gnomes doing wonder for making the area as brightly lit as a torch to him.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Unfortunately even with the guidance it's not enough)
After about 30' of slogging through the water a section of the floor comes launching up through the oily water and a gooey pseudopod strikes out for Brocc surprising him.
Attack: 19 Damage: 14 If that hits first damage is bludgeoning, next is acid. (Forgot you can't tell damage but you don't have acid resist so it doesn't matter. I though you may but I see its poison resist)
(Unfortunately since its a surprise attack, I can't use any reactions. Curse you Ooze!)
Brocc gasps as some of his flesh is burned away. Using his sleeve, he promptly wipes as much of it off as he can, trusting the inherit protective magics of the robe to whether it without problem. "Foolish Cretin! I knew you were there all along, haha! And now that you've exposed yourself, have a taste of divinity! Mn, yes, yes!" He draws an imaginary circle in the air. A golden one appears horizontal above the ooze.
From its center falls divine fire to try and purge the creature before both suddenly blink out of existence. In that moment of distraction, Brocc pats his chest and sucks in deep breathe, recovering at least some stamina. "Right then, you living bile. See if you can get through the great Brocc's defenses a second time!"
Action: Cast the Cantrip Sacred Flame on Ooze, inflicting 7 radiant damage on a failed Dex Save(DC 15).
Bonus Action: Uses Second Wind, restoring 15 HP to Brocc.

The ooze failing it's save suffers the brunt of the radiant 7dmg
There is indeed a sizzling where you were hit but the robe shows no effect. You have a feeling that if it weren't for it's magic nature the acid would be causing damage to it.
As the acid explodes outwards in front of him, Jak instinctively springs backwards, using his Cunning Action to safely Disengage. "Less banter please, Master Brocc! We can taunt it's corpse when we're finished!" Having gained enough distance, he looses an arrow from his longbow, aiming for a vital area while Brocc keeps the ooze occupied.
Attack: 9 Damage: 18
