Ancient dwarves that made that trap (highly unlikely the orcs somehow installed it there) could not answer Ramious question. The trap was just there - you never know with dwarves. Good thing no one got heart, but getting to the next room still could be useful.
It is indeed another old guardroom. Barrels, crates, and sacks line the walls of this chamber. Among the loot, four oversized straw pallets and other simple furnishings show that it now serves as a bunk room. A couple turned over crates and a bottle on the floor with some liquid still dripping from it, all indicates that last group of orcs run to the battle from here.
"Would it be protecting anything?" Alyssa would blurt out of curiosity, tempted to take a more calculated approach to investigate the statue, but would follow behind Ramious if it wasn't worth the time.
Ramious steps away from the poison trap thing, far enough to be out of range of more gas, but says, "Don't hurt yourself...." and waits for Alyssa to investigate further.

"You look at that, I'll scout a head...carefully." Bernard state. He then moves further down, he will look left down the hall way and then carefully move down the steps. He will take his time trying to be wary of any traps and then check to see where they lead.
Careful examination revealed two things: there is a pressure plate, set into the floor about 5 feet in front of the statue, and judging by the tracks (or lack thereof) - those who leave here are aware of the trap, and simply do not go to this corner. It is quite possible the trap there was set specifically for elimination of curious invaders.
The room Bernard stepped in, does not look like something that can contain traps - sleeping places reveal it as a barrack. he supplies stockpiled here are the same as those you saw before: trade goods and staples raided from travellers and nearby settlements. Brenard'd sharp eyes, though, noticed a peculiar old iron cauldron under vermin-infested bedding
Ramious, seeing Alyssa's curiosity has been sated, walks over and catches up to Bernard. He regards him moving a pot. "Oooh, Alyssa, you didn't find anything, but Bernard found a pot." He slaps him on the back. "Good job buddy. A pot. Good find good find." He sends a sideways glance back at the rest of the group, and shrugs.

The cauldron was big, but combined magical effort safely delivered it to the group. The top of the "pot" was covered with yet another dirty piece of cloth and underneath it adventurers found the real orc's treasure: 210 golden coins and a couple of nicely cut stones - topaz and two onyx stones (by the look of it worth no less than the coins).

Alyssa's head would immediately tilt in curiosity when Ramious would point out the pot.
Would this apply? If it's considered an art project:
Feature: Historical Knowledge
When you enter a ruin or dungeon, you can correctly ascertain its original purpose and determine its builders, whether those were dwarves, elves, humans, yuan-ti, or some other known race. In addition, you can determine the monetary value of art objects more than a century old.
Can identify it at a later date when we aren't invading if need be.
Alyssa could recognize dwarven craft - simple but precise form, design and decorations, too fancy for cooking, probably was used in potion making. Not something particularly rare, just another evidence that you are in the dwarven domain.
Bernard grapped the pot from his bugs and felt the surprising weight from it. He held his breath and them opened the lid expecting to be something gross. Then with a smile he said, "Well this pot is filled with gold so. I'll put it in my pack, along with the sarcasm and we can deal with it later." He smiles again and says, "Seems this trip has all been worth while so far."
"Nice find." Leon says with a grin, nodding to Ramious. "Now, lets see where to go next..." Leon glances around. Assuming there is no exit from this chamber, he would nod back the way they came. "Back that way then I am guessing. Who wants to take the lead."
(If there is another exit from this chamber, then Leon would ask which way the others wish to head.)
Ramious looks in the gold filled pot with an open mouth. "Well....I'll be. Now I got egg all over my face. I don't even know what that saying means, but...anyway. The new guy got lucky! Good job new guy!" He slaps Bernard on the back with a toothy grin. He flicks a bug off of his finger without much thought and...looks about briefly at the group, shrugs, then heads the other way down the hallway. (I think we haven't been down the hall yet, ya?)

There is no other door out of this room. The corridor leads deeper inside the mountain, drops of blood on the floor indicate the wounded Orog went this way too. The corridor ends with the door, however, half way to that door there is a very wide opening, leading south, more like a cave. Haphazard stacks of crates, barrels, sacks, and bundles crowd this long cavern. With all the goods around it is hard to see how far does it go.
Guess we check out the cave. Expecting an ambush, Ramious pauses and makes a "shhh" motion with his hands to the group. He creates an image of himself, creeping forward silently and entering the room. (Silent Image).

Leon again takes up his rear guard position as they move onward.
Ramious looks about, "Wow. None of us got hurt by that trap. Perhaps the poison gas was so old it had become inert. Well, great, just stinky then."
He leads the troupe up the stairs to the doorway, creeping along quietly.
