“Thank you for your assistance, Ali. We did each other a service. May the rest of your trip from this city be safer than this inauspicious start, and I hope our paths should cross again.”
"Perhaps they will, Seeker," says Ali, as he begins making his way back to the narrow passage between buildings.
”Now, where were we? Your name, witch?” demands Midian of the woman he has securely tied the hand of.
"Molly... Molly Ham," she replies, her voice beginning to sound weak; she is still bleeding profusely from her wounds and blood is staining the ground underneath her.

"Alright, Molly Ham. And what sort of things can you tell me that might interest a man in my position? To hear you tell things, you're bleeding out in this inauspicious place simply due to a lapse in judgment, a whim. Smart people don't aid killers on a whim, Molly Ham. They don't interfere with the clergy because they're 'upset.' People who do act so erratically can't possibly expect to live very long. Tell me about your group, your cabal of devil worshippers. Are you associated with the cult of Arion? Informants are valuable assets, Molly," Midian says. "Now is the time to think quicker than you can bleed. How can you be useful to a man like me?"
OOC: He would be striking for lethal damage, being new to this, and also untrained in this sort of thing, without access to a good facility to take a hostage for a long term interrogation.
Midian backs off a step and bends down to clean his boots and then wipes his daggers clean.
“Studies of ancient tomes. Pacts with devils. Sorcery in the blood, or a pledge to a god like Arion. In the end you all rely on what you’ve come to believe makes you special. What you believe sets you apart from others, makes you better than them. But you’re still just people. Bodies full of arteries and organs, senses just as vulnerable, habits just as ingrained as any other person. And you die just like ‘mundane’ people as well. Only in your case it would seem there is no guesswork as to what awaits you. You know with grim certainty the damnation that awaits your soul. How awful that must be for you.”
Midian will watch the woman pass, and then leave after checking her pulse and confirming the kill with one more quick strike through the temple. He will report to the local guard, or the temple - whichever he would assume to be the correct protocol - how the warlock woman attacked a man of the cloth and he defended himself, and tell them the location of the body.

Midian's blow was telling and the woman dies quickly.
Looking up and down the service lane he sees that she died without any other witnesses to her passing. Midian then heads off up the lane in the direction of the nearest city guard station that he remembers from his recent canvassing of the streets.
When he reaches the guard station—a small vacated shop that has been repurposed—he introduces himself to the guard at the desk and is quickly directed through to the person in charge: Handleader Gram, a stout Stemian man of middle years.
"My man tells me that you are reporting a body," says Gram, who has risen from his chair to meet Midian. "Whereabouts is it and are there any suspicious circumstances?"

"My man tells me that you are reporting a body," says Gram, who has risen from his chair to meet Midian. "Whereabouts is it and are there any suspicious circumstances?"
Midian describes the location, and reports, "Absolutely suspicious circumstances. The woman was an admitted warlock, her soul pledged to the devil Killrellian. She was displeased with the recent edict, and saw me, a man in vestments, and attempted to attack me with baleful magics. I slayed her in self defense, as I was trained as an acolyte Seeker of Donai. I wished to report the incident to you immediately."
Midian leads the way, and makes casual conversation en route.
“Times of change do come with some struggles. People has been used to a lax approach to allowing divergent faiths and we paid the price for it with the death of a seeker. Now the fist is tightening, and we are perhaps enduring the final death spasms of a bad element that will soon be squeezed out from our city.”
The Stemian handleader makes no comment on Midian's statement and the two soon reach the entrance to the service lane where Midian left the body.
They are met at the entrance by an anxious-looking young boy who points back the way he came and tells the handleader that there's a body lying in the street before he runs off as fast as he can, clearly upset at what he's seen.
The two men approach the body where it is still lying in a pool of blood to one side of the lane.
When he gets a look at the woman's face, the handleader sighs out a breath and says, "Are you sure? I know this woman. She grew up in this Ward. I've listened to her play music in my local tavern."

Midian makes these observations aloud, “Guard, take note, someone his found this body before we arrived. The woman’s purse and her pouch of spell components were taken and her body has been moved. I would guess it was a common thief who saw a convenient target, likely they expected coin, rather than the ingredients of witchcraft in that pouch. Still, worth taking note of. I’ll keep an eye out in case the thief hasn’t gone far.”

Intimidation: 4
It would seem that Midian's words instead of inspiring fear have invoked anger in the woman.
She twists around to face him and snarls, "I would rather die than be a traitor."
She then once more starts saying words in a language that makes Midian's skin crawl.

“That’s the way,” Midian says oddly encouragingly. He will take the opportunity attack afforded by mage slayer.
OOC: As she is bound, would he have advantage?
[The woman is bound and kneeling, so Midian has Advantage on the attack and may roll to hit. Is he is striking normally or to subdue?]

"A devil worshipper!" exclaims Handleader Gram. "Here? In the Scholar's Ward?"
He picks up his scimitar and buckles it on and then grabs up his helmet.
"Take me to the body," he says, as he heads out the door, adding to the man at the desk that he should send a runner to the priests.
"Already done," replies the man, a veteran guard himself from his age.
"Arion worshippers killing Seekers and now devil worshippers? What is this town coming too?" he says grimly as he looks to Midian to lead the way.
