"Hm." Jasun observed, standing over the dead man. "I suppose he won't be needing these anymore." and he leans down to take the rations for everyone. Then he noticed the flask. Jasun took it, opened it, sniffed it, and if the booze smelled "normal", took a huge swig. "Mm!" he said, swallowing. There was a journal here, too. He took it, looked at it. "This might prove interesting."

He handed it to Rose. "Love, see if you can make anything out of this, would you mind?"

Jirel will stand back to observe from afar.

Sera drinks her healing potion to regain 8 hp.

She looks around the areas. "Lovely. Let's find out what our dead friend was doing here." She nods at Rose.

Rose would think by now she would be used to the sight of a dead body, but seeing it as mutilated as it was, still garnered a small gasp to escape past her while her eyes focused on somewhere else. She decided to let the other, more seasoned adventurers poke around the corpse, only turning back when handed the journal to read. She gives a thank you and an affirming nod to Jasun before she begins to flips through the pages.

Jasun waited patiently as Rose read, mildly curious as to the information she'd find. The chug of applejack had warmed his throat as it went down, it was nice.

The book contains the records of how this man attempted to hunt down and kill a giant weasel that lurks in the Border Wood. Judging from the state this man's in, his efforts didn't help him much.

"Mm... Apparently he is--was--" She retracts quickly, then continues. "A hunter, who was hunting a giant weasel that stalks the Border Wood. Didn't get too far it seems..." Rose trails off, stowing the journal away for now, for a more indepth read later. "So... Are we going to be finishing the job for him?"

"A giant weasel, eh?" Jasun nods. He then shrugs. "Sure, i'm game."

Area L

Bloody animal tracks mark the snow where the trail descends from the ridge above. You assume these to be the tracks of a giant weasel. Everyone make a DC15 Perception check, Rose has advantage since she read the journal.

Rose is able to recall from the hunter's journal that he mentioned leaving traps around for the giant weasel, which helps her to spot them. Jasun finds them moments later. While they're primarily intended for an animal like a bear or a giant weasel, a humanoid could trigger it just as easily and it would do quite a bit of damage if one of you were to be caught in it.

"I do kindly recommend you watching your step, my dear. I can imagine getting snagged in one of those would be most painful.." Jasun pointed to the traps, which Rose obviously saw. "..like getting hit with a tree." he deadpanned a moment later.

Nodding at Jasun's words, Rose makes sure to point out the traps to the others to ensure they don't get caught in a trap somehow. "I wonder if they're still baited, and if not we could possibly bait them to bring the weasel out?" The firbolg taps her chin in thought. "What do weasels eat? ... Cheese?"

Make a Nature check as I frantically Google what weasels eat.

Rose wasn't able to read much up on cute furry animals back at the temple...

"I'm actually not sure, love." Jasun admits. Then, he talks to the air. "Siri, what do weasles eat?" But got no response. "Hm." he grunted. "That usually works at home.."

Rose: You know that small weasels are primarily carnivorous and unlikely to eat cheese. It's unlikely that an increase in size will change their eating habits.

But she did remember a thing!

"They're slightly carnivorous, so, um... Does anyone have some of that pie we ate before?" She questions to the others. "It was made of venison so that should do the trick. Mm... Maybe Zaf could take to the skies too and get a look see around while we setup the trap?"

With everyone seeming so set on hunting a giant weasel, Zaf tries to search his own recollection on the beast, and pass along what he knew almost as if an after thought.

"Admittedly, I am... are hunting this weasel for its possible connection to the weather?" He asked warily to the others.
