Damnation! The Companion that was once a symbol of hope and goodness above the city of Elturel has been extinguished and the entire city has been drawn into Avernus, the first layer of the Nine Hells! Those fortunate enough to have been outside of the city’s walls during its departure may have been spared that fate, but danger still looms around the corner! The refugees formed a caravan bound for the nearby city of Baldur’s Gate. Can you keep them safe from devils, bandits, and one another until they reach safety?

Backstory: Jayson spent his childhood running the streets of Waterdeep as an orphan, stealing what he couldn't find tossed out with the trash, from whoever was dumb enough to be had. It was not an easy life, but it was exciting, and he owned it.
Then when he was 13 he stole from the wrong mark. Even though he looked to be just an old man, the monk who's pocket he'd picked was able to track him across rooftops, and down through alleys, keeping him on the run well in to nightfall.
Eventually Jayson couldn't run anymore, and was cornered by the old man. The old man taught him a painful lesson that night. Though Jayson would later recall it was the easiest of lessons the monk would teach him. The old man took pity on Jayson afterwards and offered him a chance to change his life. Jayson accepted, and left Waterdeep the next morning, without a word to any of his friends.
He followed the monk for years, learning and training in the ways of martial arts. Until the day the old man passed in his sleep. Jayson buried his master and swore he would honor his gifts by doing the same for someone else one day.
Until he finds a pupil who's life he can change, Jayson earns his living as an adventurer, his taste for excitement having never waned.
Orphaned at a young age, Vedui was taken in by the Order of the Long Death monastery in Thay. There he studied death and all it's forms, and began a search for the "Perfect Death". However, Vedui soon learned that the Order was not what he wanted. Cruel and inhumane in their treatment of others and often torturing captured humanoids, this turned Vedui's stomach, and he sought escape. The final straw came when he and two others of his order came upon some traveling merchants. After purchasing some items and talking with them, Vedui turned to leave, only to find that the other members of his order decided that some study of death was due, and they slew the traders with bare hands, even to the point of choking out a young child. Vedui stared in horror....He told the members of the order...he was done....No more. They gave him 24 hours head start and told him he was a hunted man and they would enjoy learning from his death....
He has been running since then...and moving as far from Thay as he could get. He had heard about Elturgard..soemething to give him hope...something better than the monastery in Thay, and arrived there only to see it disappear into the 9 hells....
Vedui has little recollection of his family and would have a curiosity concerning any other elves. He speaks elvish but is unpracticed and any elf would note it immediately. He also still has a fascination with Death, and will talk about it, and also be curious about others who have religion.
Harlon plays - and cheats - at cards like no other. When he isn’t cheating, he’s lucky. But like any card shark, luck runs out eventually. A game for high stakes against a mysterious man left him with a debt. The sort of debt you can’t walk away from. Harlon is called closer and closer to Baldur’s Gate and Elturel by forces beyond resisting. Still, they’ve not left him with nothing. His cards carry a faint scent of brimstone and can be used to call forth magic now. So he’s going with the flow and waiting for his moment to get loose from the debt.

Backstory:
Kaltheon has been hunting those who abducted his sister for use in some dark ritual. he has tracked them all the way from the Sunset Mountains, and the trail has ended in Elturel. He is hardly surprised by what he has found, and grimly determined to pursue them wherever the trail leads.
This is the latest in a series of events that started with the death of his father, who was killed by hounds summoned from hell itself. His mother only survived through her arcane prowess but was unable to save Kaltheon's father, dragging his lifeless body to safety. His spirit could not be returned.
Since that time, he has had but a single purpose in life: the relentless hunt for creatures from the nether realms. It is the possibility that this singular focus might be the cause of the attack on his sister that haunts him.
(( Note: I was also sorely tempted by some kind of battle cleric...and would happily build to that instead...but I like rangers...))

Ability scores Ability scores: 141513161413
Race: Human
Class: Cleric, Knowledge Domain
Background: Archaeologist
Backstory: Whether by divine will or by bad luck, Renee had drawn the short straw to make the round trip from the Order's Library of Deneir to the local temple in Elturel for the purpose of delivering volumes of histories on centaurs, lengthy dissertations on hypothetical mathematics, and planar theories. "All knowledge has its use," the Favored librarian droned to Renee before the trip... Renee didn't mind endless study or libraries, and in fact appreciated the well rounded education in which he has learned no less than a half dozen languages. But, he yearned to scratch that itch for exploration and discovery, to dig up lost books, journals, and mystical secrets long forgotten in dilapidated temples buried under 20 feet of dirt and only known through rumor. Just to get that dirt under his skin, cobwebs in his hair, and the thrill of translating muddy scrolls that hadn't seen daylight in hundreds of years... "That, is the true hunt for knowledge," He would always remind himself. Renee was right in the middle of preparing to make his daily obligations of meditation and prayer to Deneir, the Great Scribe and Master of Truth when all Hell broke loose--literally--on his last planned day in Elturel. Is this divine will, or his incredibly bad luck?
I'm currently in another game with this module would that be an issue? If things are only loosely based that I think I can keep things pretty separate.
