Almost entering the mine Grahl notices the Arbon suddenly running. He grins thinking he got scared of a mine.
He then sees Onyx going into a combat stance. Grahl turns around to see if Onyx spotted an enemy. Checking the surroundings to see if Grahl notices anything (Perception 22)
Looking at Onyx. What? Why humans scared?
Grahl wont take out his axe unless he sees an enemy.

"Don't know," replied Onyx tersely, trying to waste as few syllables as possible while he kept looking around. "He's hurt--may be an insect, may be a demon."He didn't add that he hoped Marchosias would verify if their companion had actually fled from a bee sting.
The warlock also noticed a snappish tone to his response. He was getting frustrated--and more so every second that went by without an explanation for Arbon's reaction.
(( Guess I should have had him give a Perception Check too: 11 ... poor Onyx... ))
To Grahl, this place is just an abandoned mine. There's some ominous looking faded and cracked hard hats. A few steps over, theres some sinister worn out old ropes. Other than that, just a bunch of dust.
Arbon returns to his senses after being caught off guard by some whispers emanating from the tree. Shaking it off, he lets out a laugh, albeit a somewhat nervous one.
Seeing Marchosias followed him, "Thank you, my tiefling comrade, for checking on me. I'm fine, just heard some strange whispers near the tree there that caught me off guard, is all. Did you not hear them also? Perhaps we should continue on?" Arbon will look curiously at the tree as he approaches it to return to the path, though he does not stop to investigate, and continue on towards the mine and the rest of the group.
Arbon chuckles nervously at the thought, "Well I shall attempt to be less appealing next time." Arbon's face turns ernest and serious for a moment, "You're a strange one Marchosias, but I'm glad to have you here. I agree, this place is damned, but hopefully we can shed some light."
Down into the mine shaft the first of you plunge after the hunter. Its a small tunnel, lit only ever 10 feet by a sconce held torch the hunter must have lit on his way down. You come to the first split and he's waiting there sitting on a rock. The railed track continues down the left, the right seems to be a more hardened and supported path. It has carvings all around the entrance in the rock. There is an empty mine cart turned upside down at the back as you all enter just behind the entrance to the split room.
"You have a choice, many or mighty?"
He holds up a hand and lowers his head,
"Don't worry, we gotta do both, but one's gotta come first."
He thumbs over to the left,
"Goes deeper, gotta climb up stairs to come back here. Eventually, that's where we go."
Onyx cast a sideways glance at Arbon as discretely as he could. That he'd run off due to some "whispers" didn't sound right... but then, magic could do odd things. He hadn't pressed the issue, but he still felt obligated to keep an extra eye on him for a while, just in case.
At the mention of the sleeping quarters, the warlock looked over toward the hunter. Surely it wasn't time to sleep yet? But he bit his tongue, deciding to wait for an explanation before asking too many questions.
"Many or mighty? Hmm." Arbon considers the options, then turns to the rest of the group. "What does everyone think? If we go with many, then there won't be any support for the mighty later. On the other hand though, if we go with the mighty, then the many might scatter. Though, in my experience, perhaps because we're new to fighting together we should take on the many, as they're probably smaller."
"Well, let's see... I think we should go with 'mighty' first, since it should be easier to handle with four of us. We can use that for practice, then risk multiple attacks next."
"Onyx, my bookish new friend, I like your guts to take on a big guy like that. I'm happy to do that if everyone agrees." Arbon looks confused for a moment, then slowly counts everyone in the group, "I know I've been hit in the head a few times, but I count five." He stops for a moment, then considering he had just heard voices whispers to Onyx says, "Am I seeing someone else that's not really here?"
Onyx shook his head lightly. "No," he whispered back, "there are six of us total. Five of us, including you, and the hunter. So you should be seeing five."
Now a bit more concerned, but uncertain of what exactly to do, he continued, "Are you sure you're feeling alright, friend? If need be, maybe we can make use of those sleeping quarters for a bit, before entering battle."
"I'm okay," Arbon laughs, not as heartily as usual, "No rest needed, just a little confused when you said four of us. Let's push on. Nothing like a good fight to clear the head!"
Grahl will reply to the options. Hmm, mighty give more honor for Gruumsh.
Seeing the others try to determine how many we are makes Grahl sigh. It seems he is the smart one of the group. No worry, Grahl friend Horak head hurt when counting too. Horak still good warrior.
He walks ahead standing with the hunter looking back Grahl ready.
Marchosias remains silent, watching the deliberations and keeping an eye out for danger. He expected not all of them would survive this excursion - maybe then he would get to know them better.

Another medical problem. Indefinite hiatus. Sorry, all.
The Hunter chuckles a bit before leaning off his rock and heading into the right mine shaft.
"You know, I like all of you fine, but why exactly would you believe I'd lead you all in here to take a nap?"
The sounds of light crumbling rock and tapping on stone floors echo through the chamber back to you as he does. Those who follow him notices a short path down to the right again, and then up a long slopped hallway to a door. The hunter braces himself on the wall to kick it in, and looks at you with a "Ready for this?" stare. He registers your reply, and in a disbelieving smirk, knocks the damn thing down.
"Shit, too hard."
Mutterings in the darkness. You see what should be the neat and orderly rows of bunk beds and storage chests have been tossed around like a tornado fought a hurricane, thick goopy liquid splattered about the walls and broken pieces of what was once a suitable barracks. The hunter motions for you all to enter, and waves a finger over his mouth in a "don't speak" motion.
He looks about, slowly moving in, making deathly sure not to touch anything. The only sounds about are a constant dripping and labored breath
Before following down the shaft, Arbon will say a short prayer and touch a lightly glowing hand to his chest, infusing his armour with Blessing of the Forge (+1 AC).
Arbon nods his understanding to the hunter and quietly checks the straps on his shield, wields his mace and then silently enters the room behind the hunter.
(DM question - based on the description, there'd be dim light in the room as we can see the mess, or is that description for those with dark vision? Just trying to register if Arbon can see or not :) )
There is light coming from the main mining shaft as well as in the access tunnel but there is no direct source of light in the room. Its shadowed, some the larger figures are visible, and the liquid only gleams dimly at the right angle like cat's eyes with a flashlight. It's clearly viscious, some kind of thicker than water reddish brown slime. There are torn pieces of clothing, broken glass, and, bent rusted metal all about the wreckage.
The hallway torches extend the visibility out to almost half of the room. After that, those with dark vision can almost see the end. Its all the same gore covered mess.

"This whole town is a damned place - I believe you. Perhaps I was just a less appealing target for that particular assault."
