Arbon claps the returning two on the shoulders, "It is good to see you both again. Why don't we continue on and get away from whatever it is down there," he says as he peers over into the inky darkness. He gathers his rope, replacing it into his backpack, and recasts light onto his mace as he moves into the tunnel.
"Perhaps not on the side of this ditch," Arbon nods, "But we can rest in the tunnel if need be. As a note of interest, what exactly did you see down in the abyss, if anything at all? I saw some... thing... appear from behind a statue and make its way down there, but wasn't able to stop it or garner its attention."
Grahl is glad the others have returned but will not say a word. He just looks down the mist trying to see what creature is still down there. As the group moves away from the ditch he stops after a few steps looking back.
Not safe place here. Grahl keep watch.
He looks to his axeblade to see if he can find some blood from the dark elf he slew down in the mist. (would he see blood on his axe or nothing?)
Onyx nodded at Grahl before responding to Arbon, "Ha! I wish I could have seen something! The fog went all the way down, and you couldn't see your own hand in front of your face!
"Well, ok, except that at one point, we were knocked down flat, and there was a few inches of clearance right along the ground. All I saw then was Chazrael crawling my way, and... well, an extra set of boots, moving through the fog. That might have just been another silly illusion though."
The immediate silence after his speculation seemed to indicate the warlock didn't quite believe his own words.
"Anyways... if no one objects, then I've got a couple spells to cast. Shouldn't take long." With that, Onyx took the brazier he had purloined out of his backpack, along with the herbs he had found, and began setting up his ritual.
(( Unless someone wants to continue right away, Onyx will begin ritual-casting Find Familiar using the brazier he grabbed earlier, and the herbs he took from the ice block. ))
Chazrael can see something flying up the Tunnel at great speed in time to warn Arbon but Arbon is unable to get out the way as he is knocked to the ground. (Take no damage)
The being ascends into the air as Onyx casts his spell.
Its clearly some kind of apparition with a physical sense to it. Different to the one witnessed earlier, there is a tangible and visible blue-white skeletal body, but has many see-through areas such as the chest and hips. There are also many wisps of air flowing from it in different directions. Its facial structure is unknowable, masked by thin grey hood.
It observes from the air as twisting violet energies swirl in a circle, ripping a small hole in the air above Onyx's head and the spell completes.
The body of a lifeless owl is dumped callously out of the space onto the floor in front of the warlock. A horrid stench fills the room and the spectral image flies into the body, contorting it violently with many snapping and popping sounds come from the small creature.
The smell dissipates.
The bird rises with pupils bleached to the purest white. It coos and woos like a normal animal, but there is something clearly off about it. Its walk is bent, as if it is unsure of its footing. It attempts to fly but can mange only a brief hover.
It limps over to Onyx, and leans up against his leg like a well known dog or cat would to its owner, seeking protection.
Down the tunnel you all hear a chorus begin singing. It is that of tall chapel ceilings and wide temple walls. The song is loud and melodious, something pleasant to hear and yet all the while sinster, as if in celebrating the loss of a loved one in great ceremony.
The lyrics are in your tongue, understandable as giving to praise to a name. While you may not know the name, you recognize the utterance as that of an individual, their title, and where they originate.
The chorus continues into a harrowing softness, almost to that of a million moans.
Looking back down the tunnel there are figures dancing in the shadows on the wall, cast by the light of a collection of candles upon said dancers.
The owling continues to regard Chazrael as its keeper. It reacts defensively for him when it hears the sound, pushing itself between Chazrael and the noise.
"What?!" sputtered Onyx, trying to keep his voice low, and growing uncharacteristically irritated, almost angry. "Did you see what just happened? That thing is NOT what I wanted--and I can't dismiss it!"
He tossed the brazier he'd used aside. "Clearly, that--that instrument of evil, wherever its from, must have twisted my spell. It was the source of those demon dogs we fought earlier, so it makes sense. Next time I'll be sure to use something untainted, and to conjure a celestial spirit as a familiar! But until then--"
He pointed at the owl, "you certainly can't be suggesting we take THAT along with us?!!"
Chazrael nods. "Yes, I suggest we do take it along with us and if you won't care for him then I will. The owl defended me so it can't be all evil." He turns down to the owl and . "Can you fly or hover and keep pace with us, or would you like to rest on my shoulder or one of my pockets?"
Regardless of how the owl responds, Chazrael will walk forward. "I'm ready."

The two join the world above and become four once more. The room is silent except for the soltairy congratulatory nods of success.
The bridge had been crossed, and the final tunnel awaits.
"I have NO objections!" breathed Onyx. Affixing a new torch to the end of his staff, he followed behind, a notable bit closer than he had been before.
"That said, we should probably take a quick rest at the first safe spot we find; I've got a couple of helpful spells I can cast for us now."

Chazrael is going to take a piece of ration and toss toward the creature to try and lure it from Onyx.

Spurned by its creator, the undead owling hops towards each ration chunk before making its way to Chazrael, once again seeking protection.

Grahl stands to the side a few steps away from the others looking at the creature and how it arrived.
Checking out the creature Grahl's stomach starts growling.
Next time summon bigger food.
