"It looks like there was a fight here. Possible against what we faced outside. Someone is still in this tower, at least on the upper floors by the light I saw through the windows"
Darkfire will use his light spell and give the help action to anyone investigating the room.
Going to one of the other doors eliodos keeps his hands steady on the rapier feeling for it's vibrations, if nothing is felt he opens it and investigates the room 13
Darkfire, still invisible, illuminates the dining hall.
Eliodos tries each of the doors on the left side of the entrance hall. The satyr doesn't feel anything from his magic sword as he approaches each door. The far door is closed and locked, but the closer door does open.
The chamber appears to serve both as a lounge and a music room. I wide variety of instruments adorn one end of the room while the other is appointed while comfortable sofas and chairs arranged around a large hearth. The chamber is similarly filled with piles of clothes; however, there are no signs of battle. When Eliodos opens the room he is greeted by a cacophony of squawking ravens. The birds are scattered around the chamber, perched on the instruments and furniture.
Cailan watches the doors being tried, and starts when he hears the squawking, rushing to the open door. "Our feathered friends... we should put them to the sword."
Letting the ravens fly, Eliodos gets into the room searching for clue on whatever may have happened in the tower 21 (investigation), but before that he casts detect magic
As the group begins to investigate the area they notice a few things. Eliodos's spell reveals that the air in this spire seems to be infused with transmutation magic. Additionally the door Jayce is attempting to open is warded with abjuration magic, which may explain his trouble with what should be a fairly standard lock as the door does not open.
Eliodos looking around the lounge chamber notices stray black feathers in the piles of clothing there and confirms with Darkfire that there are stray feathers in the other rooms. In the feast hall, where the struggle seemed to be, all of the armor and weapons had some kind of silvering.
Throughout the clothing piles in the lounge, Eliodos finds a large ruby in one of the pockets.
"The door is sealed with magic? Perhaps I can be of assistance?" Cailan approaches the stuck door and lays a hand upon it; a faint glow emanates from his palm for a second or two as he speaks a few words in the celestial tongue.
The magic fades and Jayce is able to unlock the door. This chamber has a couple of desks and tables covered with scrolls, ink, books, chalk, and arcane baubles. Everything else in the room seems ancillary to a large circle of arcane glyphs in the center of the room. The circle is 20 feet in diameter and currently swirling with shadowy whisps. The center of the circle seems impossibly dark and appears to make some sort of portal in the floor.

Dust In The Wind watches his companions with curiosity as they inspect the dark mass of energy. He was never one to get too close to things like that, something that's managed to keep him alive so far, despite the never-ending curiosity of his friends.
He has no intention of getting any closer to the ominous darkness, instead deciding to search the tables and desks in the room. Perhaps one of these books or scrolls might turn out to be useful.
Eliodos inspects the circle with Darkfire's help. It does appear to be some kind of dimensional gate in the floor. Typically the ruins on the outside would indicate some sort of oversized teleportation circle, but something has clearly gone wrong. The darkness in the center is effectively a hole in the floor that could lead to a shadowy dimension or at least a pocket dimension. The shadow stuff seems similar to the chains outside and the one that grabbed Jayce.
Looking around the room Dust in the Wind finds a few things of interest. A set of tuning forks made of different metals wrapped in spell scrolls for the spell plane shift, ten pieces of gem infused chalk and a large bottle of similarly infused ink, a bag of powdered silver, a book written on the nature of the inner planes opened to the a section on the ethereal plane, and some notes on an arcane ritual detailing a process to anchor things between planes "harnessing the magic of a powerful creature".
The tabaxi does not attempt to understand the finer details of these items, such matters of the arcane were best left to the others - but he knows the usefulness of a bag of powdered silver when he sees it. Believing that his discoveries could be relevant to the strange portal swirling in the middle of the room, he beckons his friends to take a look.
Cailan stalks around the perimeter of the room, head turned inwards to the portal, half-expecting something to arise from it now the room had been disturbed. He relaxes slightly as he completes his route, but doesn't take his eyes off the portal. "I volunteer to venture through this portal first." He then raises his head upwards for a second as he summons Bucephalus to his side.
"I suggest we at least check the rest of this tower....we may find out more about what happened. This portal could lead to instant death"
Darkfire can read the spell scroll and cast the Planeshift with the items found? Does he know the significance of the multiple tuning forks? Also, is there a spell scroll for Teleportation Circle as well?

Jayce checks the other door. If it is open, he slowly enters the room and looks around. If not open, he will try to unlock it.

The circle gives off strong conjuration magic.

"I am with Darkfire. This may be our only path forward but we should check everything here first."
Jayce pulls out the pendant he took from the corpse earlier, to see if it reacts in any way to whats around them.
