She knew, of course, about the cats and curiosity... But when all your feelings agitated at once, fighting the strongest among them simply impossible. Mirica jumped up slightly, testing if there was still flying in her body, and when ground did not rush to catch her, looked up at the glowing crack in the wall of reality. Once it was close enough she tried to look inside and not finding anything suspicious, carefully brought her hand closer - first, just near the light, and then she touched it.
Mirica flies up to the phenomenon, reaching up to the light. A mote drops away and seemed to float towards her, accelerating towards her rod at her waist at the last moment, touching it and absorbing into it with a dull glow that then vanishes. Her hand touches a mote. She feels a tingle...familiar, like the slight tingle she gets when she casts a spell. She moves her hand through the thing, feeling magical energy jolt her hand for a moment before wavering away. She doesn't feel bad, and otherwise it seems to have no ill effect. The motes do seem drawn to her rod though, as well as her warhammer, and shield....they seem to want to drift lazily towards them rather towards the ground, simply landing on them then vanishing within.
Mirica looked down to the group with some joyful surprise: "Does not hurt. But I am not sure what to do with it. Wait!" She had an idea - if Jahred is right... Motes are driven to the magic items - let's see what they want with it. First, she got down to the ground. And then activated the rod - or tried to. Should it work as expected, the charge was already used up and for days (ten days to be precise) she would not be able to enter her forest. But if this is truly the weave itself - anything could happen, even a sudden "re-charge".
Toc approaches Chen, glancing up at the tendril. Mirica floats down, and attempts to activate the rod, but it does nothing. Toc looks back at Jahren, "Such a thing should not be."
He frowns, glancing up and without notice casts a spell. A lightning bolt rips from his extended hand towards the thing. The blast of magical energy seems to get sucked up by the tendril and with a sudden flash of light the thing is gone. Toc rubs his temple. "Uh...I'm sorry. I'm not sure why I did that. I just felt the need to....cast a spell at it. Specifically....an evocation spell." He shakes his head, "Sorry, I should have warned you, not sure what came over me. But...I think I fixed it."
Explore as the group might, the space where the thing was seems sealed, the effect gone.

"Huh..." Fianna seems stuck on that word.
But she is not so lost in amazement at the development as to not watch Toc carefully and try to read him to try to determine if he knows more about this than he is letting on. Seemed too convenient that he just felt compelled to cast the perfect spell to fix it.
In contrast, Mirica totally bought Toc's explanation. "That would be my next move. Though, my prayers are not answered by the weave and it would not work anyway, most likely. Do you have any feeling of what was it?"

Toc seems a bit puzzled by his own actions actually, but is trying not to show it. He turns back to the group. "To the Old Elven Court...."
To Fianna the dark woods felt unhealthy. The trees seemed full of darkness and hate, gnarled and ancient, cracking under the weight of their size.
Toc led the group through the thick underbrush, full of mushroom, moss, vines and brambles, trying to find paths clear enough to pass through without the need for hacking your way through. It's a windy path, but allows you to be silent as the group moves like ghosts. Even Chen with his considerable girth makes almost no noise as you slip between the dark branches.

Chen can't seem to resist the urge to throw things at the tendril, and when the acorn has no effect he strongly considers lobbing his hammer toward it. But then remembering the time when his curious halfling companion tried to use the keys to her treasure chest as a fishing sinker and never saw them again, he thought better of it. "Think before you act" was one of the many virtues that Chen admired. Toc's lightning then took away any further opportunities for experimentation, and Chen sighed with disappointment.

Although still quite pleasant to talk to if engaged, the always cheery Jahren seems a bit less himself as the group proceeds. It could be the dark, unnatural state of the forrest here or the incident with Toc and the blue tendril, but he seems to perhaps be more focused on the thoughts in his head than the world around him at the moment.

Drawn into the strange lake place, SinSin felt himself in awe. To be with someone who had her own personal domain...who were these people. And spells that teleport, and now Jahren was showing a magical carpet....it was all quite intimidating. He could choke someone out in a bar, but he felt truly out of his depth with these strange unique people. Regardless, in his quiet way, he felt he might be able to help. Keeping out of the way, eating sparingly, he had a brief discussion with Toc at the side, asking for him to also let him fall slowly if it was alright. Toc nodded ascent. The strange effect, this dark forest, all if it felt important, it was with pride that he tried to fit in with this group of competent folk.

Like ghosts the group creeps through the dark woods. You begin to spot the signs of old ruins in the forest. Stone buildings, frames of large wooden buildings partially carved into trees, or rotting rope bridges high above. The group creeps up to a ridge amidst some bushes. Loane looks and sees a dark figure perched above in a tree. Toc is about to walk into view but his eyes flash up and he freezes. The rest of the group draws still.
Loane sees the spotting location, and her eyes dart from spot to spot, noticing five other dark elves within a few hundred feet, all perched in watches above the forest. The group withdraws to a spot down a hill where they can discuss. Loane shares her intel. Five dark elves, spread out over 150 feet of tree tops, watching for folk approaching. Luckily the group has so far gone unseen.

But keeping watch for who? Are they their own faction or are they working with another? We have heard of demons and dragons and of course the Draw themselves... Are they all in league, or none? And what of the squad we are supposed to rendezvous with? Do we think they are walking into an ambush could these draw be their ambush of us? Fianna shares all these concerns with the rest of the group in hushed tones. We think we're safe from the drowse observers here but still...
"If we could quietly get one along... Persuade them to talk... But I'm afraid none of my methods are reliably quiet and discreet enough to accomplish such," Fianna finishes...
"You never mentioned the ruins are occupied by the living beings." Mirica looked at Toc somewhat reproachfully. "Or did "old draw curse" meant "overrun with draw"? Anyway, they are here, yet, our elusive 22nd squad chose this place as a meeting spot. Did they hope draw will kill us? Or were we supposed to be a bait so they can kill the draw and come again as heroes?" Mirica could not bring herself to trust anything related to that squad.
"Now I wish to catch one of the draw too. But I am afraid my methods are no less noisy, that yours, Fianna. Unless it's a good thing and we make something, that would attract their attention and make them to get down. Some illusion? How about one of these green dragons?"
"Hmmm, then again, drow... quite resistant to certain enchantments, come to think of it." "Let's see, let's see... someone could polymorph one of them into a turtle, and another of us could wait below, invisible, to snatch the little guy up. Worth the risk?"
"Indeed, as far as I know draw (or about them, mostly), I doubt even your charm would be enough," absolutely seriously answered Mirica. "Or any charm at all. Polymorfing might actually work, but dropping him is too risky. Can you turn that pretty carpet of yours invisible? I feel like we are onto something here."
