“Let’s wait til the other finish, Fianna suggests. “Maybe they’ll have some stuff the want to bring...” Fianna will go over with Elbow about how it’s done, if people climb in before it’s lowered or once it’s in the water etc. Having no clue about nautical anything, Fianna relies on Elbow and thanks her profusely.
“And what do you want for you?” Fianna will ask. “Immediate stuff like do you have stuff aboard you need to grab... but when we leave, too? Do you have people we should get you back to? You want to come with us? What do you want?”
Once her rest is finished, and her conversation with Elbow, Fianna we’ll get back to her feet and go see what everyone else has gotten up to.
Kelnan nods at Dain. "Someone at Saltmarsh might have a better idea what the... less professional map indicates. Lizard folk is a good guess. The others are quite nice. Might fetch some money in town." He notes the nicest to keep for his personal collection later and looks for a case or something else suitable to transport them in.
He absent-mindedly hands the key to Katernin when she comes looking. He's too disappointed about it not fitting a chest to think it might work somewhere else. "It's probably no use to us, but you're welcome to try it." He heads to the room next door and starts hunting for a key to that chest.
Katernin takes the key, but is a bit confused. "There's a prisoner," she tells Fianna. "I'm going to free them, and once we get back to Saltmarsh and tell them everything that happened they might be able to help him. Do you have any keys?"
If the rest isn't done yet, Fianna points Katernin to the part of the deck where she dumped the keys and other pocket trinkets she had found earlier. If the rest is complete, Fianna gets up with a contented sigh, walks over, and gets them for Katernin.
"Prisoner? More lizards or...? Just one or...?" Fianna asks, confused. "How much weird crap can you fit on one ship?"
The parrot is downstairs, in the cabin adjacent to the hidden compartment where Oceanus is chained.
Fianna will go over with Elbow about how it’s done, if people climb in before it’s lowered or once it’s in the water etc.
Elbows explains in simple terms how the winch works to lower the boat into the water, and the rope ladder used to board it afterward. The winch could also be used to put some smaller cargo in the boat as well. But with as many as seven of you in the boat, there will be no room for cargo other than a few minor personal effect. "I want to go home," says Elbows quietly. "Get me to shore and I'll be fine. Please help me just go home."
Fianna gets up and heads downstairs to join Katernin, Molo, and Oceanus. She returns to the deck and fetches the keys taken off the captain and his dead crew, an then goes back downstairs to deliver them to Katernin.
Everyone can benefit from a short rest at this point.
Kelnan notes the nicest to keep for his personal collection later and looks for a case or something else suitable to transport them in. He heads to the room next door and starts hunting for a key to that chest.
Kelnan picks out a nice coastal map as a souvenir - it features a small island called "Harpy Rock", where nearby someone has penciled in a crude little drawing of a ship labeled "Marshal." He then heads next door and examines the locked, wooden, brass-bound chest. He looks around the tidy cabin for keys. There's a single bunk, made up with bed linen, has its head against a bulkhead running along the centerline of the ship. A polished wood table stands in the center of the room, bolted to the deck. On the table is a silver bowl containing an assortment of fruit, a silver carafe half full of wine, and an empty silver goblet. Set at the table are two upright wooden chairs and a padded leather chair. Beside the chest is a pair of highly polished black leather boots. From the center of the ceiling, over the table, hangs an unlit hooded lantern. On a peg behind the door hangs a maroon robe. Where and how will Kelnan search the cabin for keys?
Fianna makes a point of assuring Elbow that she is free to leave once we get off the boat. "We'll escort you home if you want, or let you go on your own. It's up to you, kiddo."
Fianna will follow after Katerina to see this prisoner. "Not saying the prisoner is weird... Keeping prisoners on a pirate ship is weird."
It's not a cell, exactly. It's an unlocked secret compartment behind a cabin. Oceanus is chained directly to the hull with shackles (locked with a key.)
The cabin contains a plain wood table on which stand a pewter flagon containing some strong-smelling cider, and a pewter mug. Beside the table is a wooden chair, and hanging over the table is an unlit hooded lantern. The parrot's cage hangs from the ceiling at the aft end of the cabin. Next to the hull hangs an unoccupied hammock. Beneath it is a brass-bound wooden sea chest.
Katernin smiles and goes to let the parrot out, before digging through her bag, "I don't have any fish, but here," she offers the bird appropriate parts of one of her rations.
((Katernin gave Molo the keys to free the prisoner))
Dain would like to be nearby when the elf is unlocked. Just in case. I think the hold is next to Oceanus holding cell - or pretty nearby anyway. If so Dain will busy himself looking at the stuff in there, specifically the crate of gear for the mine. What's in it?
The parrot pauses for a moment before flying to the hammock.
"Kill em all!" it squawks. Katernin:
"Freedom!"
It takes a few moments to sort through the keys. None of the three keys that Fianna found opens Oceanus shackles. It's the key that Kelnan found in the captain's desk drawer and gave to Katernin that does the trick.
Oceanus collapses to the floor for a moment, then sits up, rubbing his wrist.
"Þakka þér fyrir. Ég er skuldsett."
Katernin, Fianna, Molo and anyone else who understands Elvish right now:
OOC: Dain used 2 HD in the Short Rest. Rolled a 4 and 9 on the HD which brings me perfectly up to full HP. Yay. Rolls are in the Game Log for confirmation.
Molo looks down at the elf curiously. “What’s your name? You’re weird, and talk funny, and clearly weak for being captured, but... This undersea village sounds incredible. How close is it?”
Molo watches for some sort of reaction to see if the elf understands him.
Katernin smiles and leaves some parrot-appropriate part of her ration for the parrot. "There you go Sir, I'll come back in a little bit." She joins the others, "It was no trouble at all Sir. We'll get you back to Saltmarsh and then back home after that. This ship wont bother your people anymore."

The parrot chatters at Katernin from its cage.
Yelling. Storms. Death and fish. Bad death. Good fish. I'm hungry. Do you have food for me? Let me out to fly!
