"Right then! Let me show you the cellar."
Glowkindle leads you all to the cellar entrance which is a hatch in the floor of the main brewing area. "Well, here it is. I'll open the hatch for y'all and ye can all head down. Once you are done we will all have a pint together. Thanks, and may the gods be on your side with those rats!"
The wooden stairs creak as you descend into the cool, dry air of the cellar, which is infused with the smell of beer and damp fur. The cellar is completely dark (you all have darkvision so it's a non-issue), and much of floor is taken up by barrels and casks of beer that make it hard to see the entire room at once. The only relatively clear area is towards the far side of the cellar, which has a dirt floor littered with stones and workman’s tools. That is the hole in the wall that Glowkindle told you about. It's around 4 ft. high and 3 ft. wide.
You also hear the scrabbling sound of claws on floorboards and faint squeaking noises.
What would you like to do? (Flare I will update your icon once you send it)
Alea, you create a tiger's roar which fills the cellar...
4
...and suddenly, 4Giant Rats appear before you, squeaking loudly and scurrying about quite frantically, seemingly scared shitless from the illusion of the tiger's roar. Since they were scared out from hiding, they did not surprise any of you, and you basically see the rats at the same time as they see you.
Oh that's unfortunate! Oh well... no problem, if you can just let me know exactly what you're rolling and what the results are once we really get going for combat etc. I'd appreciate it. Not that I don't trust you, it's just it helps me understand the game mechanics as well, as I am still learning. I like that I can just hover over the dice rolls and see what was rolled.
I've never had a player not use the roller before, but I am sure it'll be fine.
Will wait for Nianro's initiative a bit longer then get this first fight underway!
The rats move in on the party. Rats 1 and 2 immediately rush in and attack Nianro. They seem to be able to fight better when in a pack, and so they both lash out and try and bite Nianro:
Attack: 11 Damage: 6
Attack: 15 Damage: 4
The first rat misses and it's ugly teeth fly by the target. The second rat however manager to connect, giving Nianro a nasty gash on her arm. (4 damage)
Rats 3 and 4 assemble themselves behind their allies, squeaking loudly.
Flare, your fire bolt doesn't have to travel far; it finds its mark and smashes into the giant rat #2, creating a minor explosion of embers and burnt rat hair that light up the entire cellar.
The rat looks fried and it's a miracle it is still standing... but somehow it is. It is squeaking in pain. (6 damage taken)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
bonus action rage for sure. Attacking the closest rat: Attack: 18 Damage: 11 Edit: did not roll with the option for crits. that would be a total of 21 slashing damage

Just use my profile picture for it
Flare will ready a firebolt
”stay sharp”
Flare, you ready your firebolt, although at this moment you don't see anything in the cellar to ready it for and we are not in combat... yet.
Just want to be ready if it’s time

“I sure hope you do”
“I knew I should have cast find familiar and get a cat familiar but noooo... ugh, I can’t think today”
Alea peeks down the stairs "er... so who's going first?"
Then responds to Flare "hmmmm... good idea, let me try something"
Alea will create a minor illusion of a tiger's roar for a few moments and watches what happens. "small cats might not be big enough!"

Ok great - do you not use the dice roller?
It doesn’t work for me, I use a phone and am on the ddb website, some times I use it but it is just a pain

"impressive"
Alea follows Flare's lead and also shoots a bolt of fire at the same rat that Flare attacked:
Attack: 16 Damage: 5
Alea, your firebolt smashes into the already cooked rat, completely burning it to a crisp as it sizzles and falls to the ground, dead.
Nianro is up.
