The four men begin to laugh at Damian's attempts at intimidation, "Even the Black Spider had little use for that bugbear. Now that you're accompanied by the dwarf, you'll be in possession of the map. It'll be a lot easier getting the map from you, than the bugbear. Now hand it over."

"You will not be getting that map," Gundren snaps back.

Maerys, near the back of the group as they made their way outside, shifts to take cover beside the door frame as she listens to the exchange. Sensing some danger, she pulls a piece of cured leather from a pouch on her hip, then mutters an incantation as she rubs the leather with one hand and twists her other hand into various arcane gestures. After a few seconds, a faintly shimmering, near invisible aura envelops her body as she casts mage armor on herself.

Maerys then steps outside, still hanging back as the party stands off against the thugs. She keeps one hand on her dagger and the other on her component pouch, ready to draw at the necessary moment.

As Damian starts to issue the threat, Tagret adds a little fuel to it and draws his axes, adding "I took Grol's head off with one swing....I suggest you back away" adding his own attempt at intimidating the group.

For a moment, the four men look concerned as Tagret starts to add his own threats to the situation. They stop laughing and consider their options whilst looking between each of you. However, they don't back away, instead they draw their swords.

"Look, this is nothing personal. However, what Glasstaff would do to us if we backed down, is a lot worse than a simple beheading."

(Roll for initiative. Redbrand: 18)

Tagret was so sure that the Redbrands would back down that he is caught mightily flat footed when they draw their swords instead....... 

"This was not how I hope this would go," Saravena sighs hand on her crossbow.

Initiative: 7

Maerys curses under her breath. "Leave at least one of them alive for questioning."

I assume that Gundren is with us also, as is Bitenose - so they need to act as well.

Seeing the Redbrand are about to attack them, Rashana quickly draws out her staff and whacks one of them.

Understand, but he still needs to act, particularly if targeted by the Redbrands, and we may need to react to whatever he does - just trying to cover the RP context of why the Redbrands are targetting us, as I assume it is Gundren they are really after.

In her haste to attack, Rashana's attacks miss her target.

In retaliation, the Redbrand attacks her back.

This is quickly followed by another Redbrand who attempts to stab Tagret.

Meanwhile, Gundren disengages from the fight and retreats back into Stonehill Inn.
