Seeing everyone stop to look around, Vigil grunted an scan the area as well. The goliath wouldn’t have stopped for no reason, there had to be something going on.

Zack is the only one who sees the lizards through the wall of trees up ahead. They don't actively *seem* hostile at the moment, apparently content to just drink from the river... At least until one of them looks up and at the party. A little growl comes from the creature.

"...Well, we 'ave three options. Back up, slowly... and cross the river to the other side, we fight, or we wait." Oriander says, glancing at the party. "It is up to ye."

Zack shakes his head, "We've simply wandered into their home. I'm happy to back up a little and cross over. Leave them be."

Remembering what happened the last time they tangled with something reptilian, Kalgren halted his step.

'I'd prefer not to fight.' He said, using the stop to take a breather. 'Anything on the other side of the river that we should know?'

"We can just back up... We'll need to make a bridge though, to avoid the gear gettin' wet and cold." Oriander keeps his eyes on the giant lizards ahead and motions for the party to go ahead and go back ahead of him while he makes sure the lizards don't go after them...

Zack brings out his mage hand, "Perhaps I can tie off a rope on the other side for us? It's no bridge, but it's a start."

Kalgren took out his own coil of rope. 'Rope bridge sounds good. Anyone have a second rope?'

Zack shakes his head. "I, uh, did not think to pick one up. I guess that will teach me for keeping my nose in my notes all the time."

Taking the hempen rope out of his pack, Vigil tosses it at Kalgren. "Good thing I got you covered then."

Oriander chuckles as he watches the group coming up with a solution. "'ow would ya make platforms between our ropes here?" He asks, clearly offering his assistance, should the group make a decision.

Zack shakes his head. "One top rope for us to hold onto, the other on the bottom to shimmy across with our feet. I appreciate the want for a simple bridge, but I think time is of the essence and a quick crossing is more prudent than taking time to build a bridge." He looks to the others to see if they agree.

'If you think your dainty little hand can do it.' Kalgren dropped the coils of rope on the river bank and began tying one end to a sturdy looking tree while keeping an eye out for any lizard like things in the near vicinity.

OOC: you can just do things you want to do to get the story going, Spieltjoos. No need to always ask for group's permission, especially considering we all implicitly want the bridge. :)

(OOC - no worries. Don't want to run away with it though!)

Zack shrugs, "Well, it's worth a shot." And his mage hand grabs the other end of the rope and moves across the river to a tree and wraps it around a couple of times before tying it off. The same thing is then done with the other rope, though a little higher on the tree for the hand-hold.

(OOC - not sure what or if roll you'd like me to make for those ropes? Otherwise Zack will attempt to cross.)

(Sleight of Hand, I think. ...with disadvantage because Mage Hand only... well... has one hand. :P roll, and confirm you attempt to cross *before* you know what the dice rolls are, and we'll go from there.)

The ropes struggle for a moment, but the mage hand simply isn't good enough to tie off the ropes securely on the other side. Oriander chuckles. "...Would you like for me to go over and tie it off properly? I don't have to worry about being wet compared to the cold weather gear." He offers.

Zack nods, "Uh, that might be best. Thank you Oriander."

Oriander chuckles as he steps into the water and starts making his way across the river. At the deepest point, the water actually comes up to the goliath's chin, so the river is quite deep... He comes to the other side and ties off the ropes around a thick tree and gives a thumbs up as he grins. It seems he enjoyed the brief swim.

Zack pulls on the ropes to check their secureness for himself. Satisfied, he climbs up and starts to make his way across.

As Zack is crossing the river, Vigil will assist by holding down the rope and hopefully help reduce the swaying.
