Kraven moves to the entrance of the hallway Qatya points to and gives a look down it to see what he can see, then start to slowly move down the hallway a bit, waiting for the others to join him.
"No! Wait!" Khalani grabs Qatya's arm as she begins to drop into the pool and, hopefully, helps her back out. "That wheel is about 10 feet down. I'm not sure we could spin it, if we tried. And, worse, have no idea what might happen. It could flood the dungeon. Let me try something, first," Khalani says.
He asks his goddess for guidance and then casts light on a copper piece and tosses it into the pool. When it reaches the bottom, ties a knot around one of his pitons and lowers it into the pool. He uses the light to look for valves, vents, waterflow, anything at all that might give some indication of the wheel's purpose. He keeps the piton a least two feet above the wheel but watches it carefully for signs of current or other water flow.
Shaking his head as he comes out of the trance, he says, “You were right, Qatya. We should turn the wheel if we can. I will ask the Goddess’ guidance on any who make the attempt.”
ooc: Anyone who jumps into the water to try will get to add a 1D4 to their strength roll, including I hope, the golem.

IC: "NO! STOP! We have no idea what will happen if you turn that wheel. You could kill us all! Come on out and I will cast an [spell[augury[/spell]."
Khalani helps Qatya out of the pool then pulls out his sticks and tosses them asking the wisdom of turning the wheel.
