Regulus snaps his finger, “of course! Hells-damn it! It’s always in (he does air quotes) another castle.” Regulus shakes his head, “My apologies, what is it you can offer us that the marid can’t? In addition, what else do you know about the lower level?”

"You're back." says the marid. "Hm. Very well. Twenty blue spindles worth a total of thirty thousand gold, along with the suit of mariner’s armor and two common wondrous items: a candle of the deep and a pole of angling."
All assume the silence is acceptance. Here's the next level.
THE RUNESTONE CAVERNS - LEVEL 20
AREA 1 - THE DESICCATING SYMBOL
You leave Level 19, heading further down into Undermountain. You reach further down to level 20 through a narrow passageway. It's thin enough that you need to decide a marching order. Please do so now.
You missed it at the last moment. You step on a symbol spell, and it triggers. You feel each and every one of your nerve endings on fire for too long a moment before it ends. Aside from the pain of a broken femur while giving birth, this pain was pretty close for the brief amount of time it hit you. You take 42 necrotic damage, DC20 CON save for half. Ghostly skulls appear in the cavern after it's triggered.
Regulus leans over, “Oh, be careful, there’s a symbol there.” He winks, “Just kidding, I didn’t see it either. I agree, this seems to be the most potent level thus far.”

Eris naturally falls in front of Liri, letting the ranger keep at their backside for safe shooting distance. At the call of being careful and being told there were symbols around, Eris chimes in, “Don’t move forward. Let me see if I can help us navigate through safely...” As she says this, she casts Detect Magic in hopes of being able to see the runes before they get triggered.

As you approach this cavern from AREA 1, you hear loud stone smashing against stone. The cavern has a peaked roof 50 feet high. A hulking, mobile mass of jumbled stone stands atop a natural rise in the center of the cavern. It is using its fists to smash something. Carved into one wall is a stone forge that isn't lit. A rusty iron anvil sits atop a 1-foot-high granite plinth in front of the forge. As you watch the golem, the mad golem removes a glowing gem from the pulverized remains of its latest victim, which appears to be a much smaller stone golem, and swallows it, then begins attaching pieces of the destroyed stone golem to itself.

Regulus holds out a hand as the Devil’s middle finger blazes up from the ground in a flash of hellfire, the wavy flamberge alight with withering flame. “Now THIS is a challenge! This should get the blood flowing.”
