The beholder is inspecting the demons encased in the crystals - which, in turn, are above the stone gate - but otherwise does nothing as you approach. It's like it's deaf, or completely oblivious to your presence.
Regulus nods, “I’ve had my fair share of run-ins with demons, those two are nothing to us.” He outstretches his hand as the Devil’s middle finger wooshes into existence in a gout of infernal flames, “Trust me, there’s no love lost between devils and demons.”

The beholder slowly turns, blinks at your presence, and slowly turns around to continue it's work. Whatever that work is you're not sure, but it seems to be guarding the two crystal imprisoned demons.
"I do not think that the beholder, if it even understands what we're saying to it, will speak to us. If you believe that it is up to no good, then you should act. Otherwise, we should leave."

You squeeze through a tight cavern passageway, heading north, and enter AREA 8. This cavern has a 30-foot-high ceiling. Three small beholders are floating around above a sinkhole. You cannot see down the sinkhole from where you are, at the moment.
As you look down, another ten small beholders float inside the sinkhole, which plunges 100 feet into darkness. At the bottom of the sinkhole lies a moldering beholder corpse.
This 30-foot-high cavern contains two 10-foot ledges — a smaller one to the west and a bigger one to the south. Five gargoyles perch on the north ledge. When you guys pass into AREA 9, one of them flies north towards AREA 11. The gargoyles that remain speak to you. "Look at disgusting invaders! BhaAHah! Welcome! Welcome to magnificent subterranean domain of Jaruk the Dao! BeEheHEhehe! Stinky fleshbags of filth!!" They hurl mean insults at you for about a minute, making fun of your looks, your smell, and especially the fact you have a huge hair dumb walking bull among you - along with a disgusting human female and a devil looking shitstain.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Regulus stops dead in his tracks. Turning up to see the stone gargoyles. Softly, “What did you just say to us?” He takes a couple steps forward, a little louder, “What did you just say to us?” Regulus takes a ten foot running start, jumping straight up 15 ft to land on one of the ledges with gargoyles.
He leans down to be in the face of one of the gargoyles, a wide, sleepy smile on his face, Softly, “I’m going to make you wish you’d never been born. And when your brothers are wailing, gnashing their teeth and screaming for mercy, do you know what I will do?” His eye seem to glitter with fire, his smile seems to twist and shift (using minor Illusion to warp Regulus’ face ever so slightly), “I’m going to laugh, because it will be oh so funny, elemental.” He gnashes his teeth, pretending to bite the air in front of this gargoyle’s face.

Her eyebrow twitches in irritation at the gargoyles words, but she’s dealt with worse. She snorts at Baird’s retort despite not understanding what he says, assuming that, by his tone, it was just as nasty as what they had said to them. The sorceress then watches Regulus with great amusement go up and intimidate the bad mouthed creatures. “What a man~” She comments with a smirk at her lips.

Petra wasn't bothered by the gargoyles taunts, because she's hot and she knows it. She is however, fairly interested in watching Regulus assert dominance over the gargoyles.

The gargoyles whoop and holler, spooking, and like a flock of birds, or scared cats, disengage and flee to AREA 11 - throwing out a few more insults for good measure.
"Like most people who run their mouths, they are unwilling to back it up when someone challenges them to do so." Unless the others really feel that they need to chase down the gargoyles and beat the shit out of them, Petra will head to Area 10.

Baird chimes in in *infernal* to the beholder
Hey! You there! Are you sealing them away?

Baird will approach cautiously,
Ho, there! Drop something?
As you look down, another ten small beholders float inside the sinkhole, which plunges 100 feet into darkness. At the bottom of the sinkhole lies a moldering beholder corpse.
"Unless Eris wants to toss a Fireball down there, we should get moving, because I am certainly not jumping into that pit."
