Despite Auric’s repelling blast, Kaemgen’s able to hold steady. Bolts and arrows glanced off scales, clattering to the ground while axe blades sink deep into the dragons back. The dragon’s hear would rear back, roaring from the shock and pain. Growing red stains pool between scales and run like a river down it’s back, raining down onto the earth below. Immediately the beast kicks up into the air, pulling up fully vertical as they climb into the sky. Higher and higher they go, a wicked grin pulling across their lips. Cryovain claws at their back, grabbing hold of the pest burrowing into their scales.
Grapple: 13
Second grapple if needed vs a slippery K: 12 (lol terrible rolls to back up a terrible DM managing a dragon terribly) (Originally was an 11 and a 10)
Holding Kaemgen out before them, “Arrogance will be your downfall.” Cryovain lets go, leaving him to free fall.
Kaemgen had never realized how much he enjoyed flying before this day. And this day he realized, he enjoyed it not at all. The customer service sucked, the seats were far too small, and the turbulence... Well, that could be a real killer!
If he succeeds and holds on:
Struggling against all odds to hold on, Kaemgen had no idea what the hell he was doing. What his endgame was. Besides eventual slaughter and digestion by a freaking dragon, anyway... Ok, for a moment, down near the ground, this had seemed a bright idea. Wound the dragon. Maybe get it to focus on attacking him instead of flying away. Kaemgen just never thought it might just do both at once... And the way down was just getting further and further and further...
Gulp.
If he fails to hold on:
Kaemgen had no idea what the hell he was doing. Ok, he was falling. He knew that much... And soon would be coming to a sudden and inevitable stop. Painfully so. With likely lots of splatter and bloodshed.
Oh yeah, that's what he was doing... Dying. Good plan.
((Frankly think you handled dragon just fine... It saw us, poked at us, expected us to die easy like Orcs. We didn't so he got annoyed, hurt a bit, and thought screw this noise and decides discretion and all that... Makes sense.))
Taking advantage of the opportunity presented, Xeno rips through the underbelly of the beast as it pulls up into the sky. A new river of red starts to flow, staining the world beneath. With a taste of irony from the dragon’s own arrogance, Kaemgen manages to slip through the dragons claws, completely avoiding it’s grasp. The world continues to get smaller down below as the dragon reaches a modest height of at least over 80ft. And as Cryonvain becomes drained of it’s life force, the iridescence in its scales begin to fade, even wavering slightly in their climb through the air.
”Brave Kaemgen, slay the draconic miscreant before it bears thee to thy doom!” calls Auric (transferring inspiration if Kaemgen wishes to use it).
Instructing Fuego to take a position below the dragon (well out of reach), Auric charges his familiar with healing power, preparing to heal his heroic companion even as he falls.
(Using Cure Wounds action to allow Fuego to touch Kaemgen as a reaction as he falls past should the dragon die on the wing…hoping with extra HP and rage may allow him to survive the fall)

"This is crazy. This is crazy. This is crazy," Kaemgen says to himself over and over again like a mantra. He couldn't help it, this was a crazy situation and he had no idea how to bring it to an end. He considered jumping for the trees and hoping the branches would break his fall... Without piercing his body like a thousand lances. He considered pulling free one of his axes and trying to continue to attack the dragon... But best course there is he slays it and they both fall out of the sky and become splats upon the earthen floor far far below. And farther below each moment...
"Ummm... Excuse me? Dragon, sir?" Kaemgen shouts out quizzically. "Perhaps we could talk our way out of this situation?"

Still... It was beautiful up hear. Almost peaceful... excepting the furious dragon beneath him. His troubles all seemed a bit moot while taking in the big picture like this. It's good it's so beautiful, he thought. At least he will die having seen such a sight.
Mr.Dark looks up in the air...and then starts running, trying to stay under the path of the flying beast, his head nodding down to watch where he runs and then lifting back up to watch for signs of anyone falling. As he rushes, he pulls out his golden coin and rubs it with his thumb, hoping Kaemgen's luck holds...perhaps a bush or tree will soften his fall....

"NOW you wish to bargain?" Nostrils flared with a huff. "I will hurl myself into the snow capped peaks before ever allowing myself to be enslaved as your pet!" The young white dragon practically spat, their deep voice booming from deep within. Kaemgen could feel it reverberate through his body. With the bloodstained wind whipping by his face and the world moving away Kaemgen could tell the dragon wasn't bluffing. They were well positioned to be heading for the mountains. The intensity grew with Cryonvain's unsettling growl through gritted teeth as they eye the mini golden dragon tailing them.
"I have no reason to trust you-" Cryovain grumbled, almost seething as blue hues narrow. They slightly glance away from the trailing firefly over their shoulder to Kaemgen "Human." But, there was something about the pause that Kaemgen could also tell he had gained their consideration. It was an upgrade from flea or pest. Would it be pushing it to say that he gained maybe a sliver of respect? He did thwart many of the dragon's efforts and lasted this long.
"Why spare you?" The beast questions the man who appeared to have been so ready to face death, suddenly change his mind to bargain. What was so precious for him to return to? Sure, he was no orc, the dragon would give him that. But he could still be... "Just another one of THAT SNAKE's puppets!" Paranoia crept up, seething those words out loud at the prospect.
"NOW you wish to bargain?" Nostrils flared with a huff. "I will hurl myself into the snow capped peaks before ever allowing myself to be enslaved as your pet!"
"Enslaved pet?? NO!" Kaemgen shouts against the winds buffeting him, clinging on for dear life and thinking that it's probably a futile gesture. "I'm talking more us both living and going our separate ways! Live and let live... Emphasis on the living!"
"I have no reason to trust you-" Cryovain grumbled, almost seething as blue hues narrow. They slightly glance away from the trailing firefly over their shoulder to Kaemgen "Human."
The sheer force of the winds were threatening to pull Kaemgen off the dragon even if the dragon itself has stopped, for the moment, trying to flick him off. He really had little hope of surviving at this point, the shouting was just all he could think to do. If nothing else it was a beautiful view. If you disregard the blood spilling from both of them...
"Trust is earned," Kaemgen screams in response. "What say we both live long enough to earn each others?"

"Why spare you?" The beast questions the man who appeared to have been so ready to face death, suddenly change his mind to bargain. What was so precious for him to return to? Sure, he was no orc, the dragon would give him that.
"Why?" Kaemgen asks, a bit quieter than he had been. He's asking himself the same question, and why the dragon would even bother asking it... But the dragon wasn't done yet.
But he could still be... "Just another one of THAT SNAKE's puppets!"
"I am nobody's puppet, worm!" Kaemgen shouts out, angrily. "I am a McScáth! The only strings on us are those of honor... duty... and responsibility!" Even as he screams this, Kaemgen lets go of one of his makeshift battle axe handles he had wedged into the dragon's hide and is reaching instead for his Warhammer. There is no telling what thoughts go through the brain of a dragon but the tone of this ones words has changed enough that the brief moment were it seemed bargaining was a possibility seems to have suddenly and inevitably disappeared.
As Kaemgen's first shouts of conversation reach the dragon, they calm once again to a low grumble to listen. Only fate could tell whether either of them could survive their circumstance. Although Cryovain did have the literal high ground, the human had trailing help. Live and let live. They'd huff, almost amused, and Kaemgen felt the sudden exhale deflating the large beasts diaphragm.
"Trust is earned," Kaemgen screams in response. "What say we both live long enough to earn each others?"
Kaemgen's words hang in the air despite everything else whipping by. It seemed fair enough. They could have more fun playing with this dodgy one again, on their terms. Though, the moment the next thought crossed their mind, it was confirmed. Cryovain still shouldn't let their guard down. The human met their paranoia with paralleled hotheadedness.
