The kingdom has always been a peaceful and welcoming place.
Well... at least it was.
The Arcane Beast has returned from his sealing, and has transformed all the guards of Redbone Castle into his own monstrous soldiers. He took over the castle, leaving King Raurun and his daughter, Princess Enra, whom have escaped just in time, out into the capital town of Bonemere. About the DM
Hi, I'm a new-ish DM (1 1/2 Years) with the basics under my belt --as well as a few other knowledges--. My overall DM-ing style is roleplay-heavy with combat varying greatly on where the story is. I do not have any access to image sites, nor do I know of any --other than Imagr Xl--, so this campaign will lack in movement combat or any pictures.
Arcanist Domain info
Backstory of the Arcane beast
Within the growing town of Bonemere, there lived a simple arcanist. While he was a good citizen, loyal to the domain, he had a large craving for power. Whenever there was time, he went on journeys across the land, searching for magical items to fulfill his desires. He came across many temples, eventually finding all eight of the Ancient Spellbooks -eight spellbooks containing spells surrounding their spell school,- in the process. However, it wasn't long after his return the townsfolk began to fear him, or what he may become. Out of fear, the townsfolk chased him out of the town, never for him to return.
Feelings of malice, vengeance, and envy swarmed the arcanist's heart, he searched the wilds to find somewhere to make a new home. He came across an old tower one day, there he made his own domain, spending time there viewing over the Ancient Spellbooks, with them he created nine magical staffs, each one of a different spell school. Soon, they became known as the Spellbook Staffs. He took the last one, the Arcane Staff, for himself, using its power transform himself into a monstrous minotaur, there, he became the Arcane Beast. With no use of the other eight staffs, he left them sitting in the tower.
With his monster unleashed, he terrorized The Robed Domain, Bonemere especially, with revenge being all on his mind. Years of terror passed, until one day, Queen Reya chose to intervene. She confronted the Arcane Beast, and used powerful magic seal him away within his own staff. She entered the tower to discover the other eight dusty staffs, thus taking them back to the castle and instructing soldiers to hide them throughout the domain, but none of the soldiers have returned.
Filled with fear of what may happen, the queen locked the final staff, The Arcane Staff, deep within a hidden room of the castle, and left its existence a secret, so only whispered rumors would ever tell its tale.
Locals
The population of the Arcanist Domain are very welcoming to all races (except for minotaurs because of the current events). Very few people know any martial combat skills, instead, many townsfolk use magic as their self-defense, using spells such as Alarm, Minor Illusion, or Ice Knife to keep monsters and intruders at bay.
More to Come...
Landscape
A towering mountain sits near the center of the land, with an arid canyon leading up to it. Bonemere sits in the bottom corner of a field with several small hills throughout, a dirt trail to the right of town leads into a forest full of fearful tricks and terrifying monsters, the deeper in you go, the scarier the forest gets. A smelly bog lay behind the mountain, inhabited with neutral hags, they don't mind you, as long as you don't pose a threat or "threat".

Backstory (optional): Tanthir was an orphan less than a month after he was born. An orcish raiding party attacked his village, taking anything of value and slicing down anyone that stood in their way. His parents were foolish enough to try to prevent an orcish priestess that had been found barren from claiming the child as her own, and so she removed the obstacle. Raised by orcs, he was trained in their ways of martial prowess; learning the laws of nature and survival dictate that the strong survive. For him to survive he must prove his strength.
At the age of proving he set out on a journey to show his tribe that he is strong enough to be an orc, even if he is human on the outside. Having proven that strength he can return to his village, and if the spoils he brings back with him are rich enough perhaps even return as a hero. His share of 10,000 emblems and what treasures may be found along the way might be enough to gain him that status.

It made a pact with him, agreeing to give him power in exchange for keeping it hidden and working as it's agent in the world. Kaltent continued with his previous lifestyle of selling fakes, but would also undertake missions as directed by his patron. Upon seeing the size of the reward posted for helping end the threat of the arcane beast, he couldn't resist offering his own services.

The monastery in which I was raised was dedicated to the goddess Selune. When I would ask the abbots about how I came to be. All they would say is, "That it doesn't matter, you are here now." This would upset me. One day I finally worked up the courage to ask the head abbot about my origin. He told me that he did not know. I was found on the steps of the monastery one night and the abbots took me in. Later that night, I had a dream. A winged creature, most likely an angel, appeared before me. I spoke and said to me, "Jinhazar, You have been chosen by Selune herself to venture forth and spread her light to the world. Go forth in her name, and you shall shine a light in this dull nation." I immediately awoke, scared. Not because an angel had spoke to me, but that i have never dreamed before. This was the first, and to this date, the only dream I've ever had. I told the Head Abbot what I saw. He said, "I knew this day would come. It is time for you to leave us." So now I have been journeying since, waiting for yet another dream from Selune to guide me in the right path.
