"You really think that might making peace with one goblin is going to make a difference?" Randrak says incredulously. "These goblins invaded as an army with dragons! Someone else is in charge and I get the feeling that any goblin you try to make peace with will be a lot more afraid of them than you."

“The secret we should never let the gamemasters know is that they don't need any rules.” ― Gary Gygax
"I need one alive to learn if peace without bloodshed is possible. It may make a difference, it may not. We can't know until we try." Reggarn remembers a teaching from temple, "Small things can bring about huge changes. Like the yeast brings about delicious beer."
Your conversation drifts through the empty passages as you make your way back out of the abandoned monastery. As you reach the entrance you all come to a halt as your eyes are met with a grizzly sight. The cleric you worked to free from these mines lies dead, her body riddled with arrows just a few feet away. Of Freak there is no sign, though the area seems to have played host to a mighty struggle. Blood covers the ground along with scorch marks and great gouges in the stone.
The dead goblins you slew earlier remain where you left them but no other bodies are evident.
"Oh no... They must have taken him back. He doesn't deserve what they did to him." Hitticus begins reading the scene and trying to deduce what happened and find where freak went.

"My former employers, they must have gotten to freak again. I bet anything those aren't goblin arrows in the poor woman" Hitticus's says while searching
Reggarn will walk over to the body and prays over it. After he finishes the prayer he looks for her holy symbol (investigation if needed is a 7). If he finds it he will say "I will return this to the alter of Erathis so that your final prayer my fall at her feet."
"You know the warehouse where we found Freak?" Hitticus says a little distracted "I was part of the group 'tending' him. I didn't do any of the experiments, but it was my job to make sure he didn't escape and that they didn't kill him."
He turns to face the group "Yes I know it's tragic, yes I know I'm a monster, but I also know the monsters I worked for. Some of them are on the council we met."
Hitticus you study the tracks and marks carefully and you surmise that you friend was attacked by a group of at least six dwarves shortly after they made their exit from the monastery. The fight was brief and violent and it is clear that Freak was captured and dragged away, though dead or alive you could not say.
Mercwri a closer inspection of the scorch marks shows them to be a familiar sight. This damage was made by magic, which means either Freak released his power upon the attackers or they had casters amongst them. You recall the elemental magics released by Freak in the mines recently.
Reggarn you find and remove the holy symbol with ease and as you do you note with distaste that the words of Hitticus were true. These arrows are of fine dwarven make.
Uldran considers your words Alanis and nods. "It is true that Freak reacted badly when he saw the High Lords advisors, they wore arcane symbols that I did not recognise and had the whiff of magic about them. We should take the egg to the docks and try to get it aboard a stone ship. If anyone will know how to care for it, it would be them."
He gives a pained look then as he breaks an oath made to the captain of one of those ships before landing on this isle. "The Stoneships are soul bound to dragon eggs such as this one. It is what powers them and allows them to traverse the burning ocean. I will say no more other that to urge you all to get this egg aboard one of those vessels." As he speaks he clutches the egg protectively.
Randrak as the others talk you hear a soft scratching sound and sniffs coming from behind a nearby boulder.
"How can dwarves do this? How can we fight without and within?" Reggarn's voice cracks, "are we destined to have no peace anywhere? If these stone ships are bound to these eggs then that is where we take it." He then pulls the arrows from the body and says, "I will return these to their rightful owners."
Hitticus holds a hand out to Reggarn "Finally something we agree on, not that my word is worth much, but I give it to you that we'll do our best to set it right." Hitticus eyes glass over and the ow familiar voice of Ama rings through "Mine as well. I have some pull on the spirit side, I'll make sure her soul isn't tampered with"
Hitticus smiles and nods "Alright, we need to be off, I can lead us after him, Ama knows this place like the back of her eyelids. Does anyone have magics that can keep us all quiet? I don't need to remind any of your that there are worse things than goblins and dragons"
Mercwri as you round the boulder you spy the shivering form of Grub; the goblin you spared earlier before entering the monastery. He looks up to you with wide eyes and bights back a scream.
"Please, you no hurt Grub." he hisses, "Grub kept his promises yes? and then dark dwarves came and made the bad fire. Grub was scared so he hid."

Alanis looks at the scene in shock, moving over to the poor cleric despite knowing that there is no hope.
“By the stone, the scorch marks and the gouges… is there another dragon involved in this, too?”
She kneels next dwarven woman to at least check.

Randrak doesn't say a word, instead, he starts to listen out for any sign of others in the room.

„On the council? That… makes things very difficult.“
Alanis says, trying to digest what she just heard.
„First things first: Hitticus, can you imagine where they may have brought Freak?“
She takes a deep breath.
“Secondly… if that kind of people are part of the council… we might want to reconsider where to bring the egg.“
