Lorgar greets the coachman: "Watchers blessing upon thee." He continues in a concerned tone, the simpathy for the poor animal clear in his voice: "What ails thy horse? May we offer assistance?". Lorgar will slowly advance towards the horse, provided he isn't stopped by the coachman or any passangers. He will attempt to calm the animal and try to discern if it is injured, and if so in what manner. Following that, he will use cure wounds on the horse if it is sufficiently hurt.
Upon hearing Balthazar’s call, the coachman turns and looks at the group before saying “No, everything is not all right. One of our horses has gone lame and the second is stuck in the mud. I have so far been unable to get neither the horse nor the carriage out of the mud. If you could help us get unstuck, we would be ever so grateful. Mayhap, you could hitch your horses or your oxen up to our carriage and we would be free in no time.”
Lorgar notices that the horse lying on the ground has a broken leg. When he casts his spell, the horse neighs in surprise and then struggles to its feet, obviously able to stand now. The coachman looks at Lorgar in surprise, “You are a miracle worker. I figured we’d be killing that one after we got the coach free. Thank you very much for your kindness.”
While Quin cannot say much about the crest, he is pretty sure that whoever is in there is a noble from Sanbeyonne. The accent of the coachman also suggests such a point of origin.
OOC - so I take it that with the horse back up on its feet the carriage can get out without further aid? Additionally, if they came from Sanbeyonne they already travelled atleast a part of the road we are going to pass? I think we should use the chance to pry some info.
"It was the will of The Watcher we help you. Where do you come from? Sanbeyonne? Any news of the road you could share?"
"Well good meeting you. Beware some possible goblin ambushers down the road apiece. We must be getting on." says Quin. As he urges Budheim and Tin to get the wagon moving. "We really need to get this wagon to town."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Quiller will closely examine the crest on the side of the carriage and commit it to memory. OCC History check. 21 Does anything come to mind as he regards it? Other than it’s a crest, of course.
When it become clear that the party is intent on helping these strangers get out of their predicament, the door to the carriage opens and two armored men step out of the carriage and get behind the carriage to begin pushing the vehicle out of the mud. Budeim and Tin hook their horses up to the carriage as well and the vehicle is soon out of the muck it was imbedded in. About the time that the carriage is pulled out of the muck, a third armored man comes riding down out of a ravine. He is wearing a surcoat that is emblazoned with the same coat of arms that is on the carriage.
As this man notices that the carriage is already out of the boggy mess, he lifts his sword in salute to the party for their aid.
One of the men who stepped out of the carriage acknowledges Logard questions and answers “Yes, we are from Sanbeyonne. The road back seems to be fairly safe, except for the men that were hired to assist us in escorting this coach to its destination. These hired men apparently were in league with men who stole our horses and those of several other travelers while we were staying at the tavern back at the border.” The man gestures back in the direction they came from.
“If we’d had our full complement of horses, this little bog would have been no problem for us. And, the two horses we were able to purchase are no adequate replacement for our Sanbeyonne draft horses.”
The man who had ridden in on horseback at the last minute looks around and says “I don’t suppose you’d be willing to part with any of your horses at the moment. We are more than willing to pay you for their replacement. Having two additional horses would definitely aid our mission rather than having Ismael and Inigo ride in the carriage.”
“There are goblins down the road? Do you know of how many their might be?”
Quiller does not have any additional information about the crest, other than it is associated with a noble from Sanbeyonne.
"a nest's worth, i'm sure of it. we had slain 3, 1 had run off, probably to warn his fellow vermin, and we burned the wagon they used as a fort and used the wreckage to block off their entry to the surface. where there are 4, there are more."
"Say, Might there be a reward for the capture of these men you hired and what might they look like in case we run accross them? Also how many did you hire?" inquires Quin.
"Also any identifying marks on the horses should they be discovered?"
A low murmur can be heard from the carriage and one of the armed men go over to talk with someone inside. He turns and says “Yes, there is a reward for capturing the three men that stole our horses. The horses are branded with an ornate R, similar to what is on the crest. If you, can wait a few minutes, Madam will provide you with more info on collecting the reward.”
After a couple minutes, a wooden slat is opened in the side of the carriage and a feminine hand holds a piece of what appears to be wood out to the guard. He turns and hands it to one of you, and says “If you manage to capture the men or our horses, take them to the Town of Tangul in Sanbeyonne. It is the first large town you’ll see after crossing the border. Take this to the Mankari, and he’ll give you a reward for helping us out, and for the return of the horses and/or capture of the thieves. And, thank you for the warning about the goblins.”
“Anyone interested in selling their horse?”
Both Tin and Budeim decline the offer.
Looking at the piece of wood, it appears to be a scroll case, with the crest seen on the side of the carriage embossed into wax that is sealing the end of the tube.
Ooc Mankari is a noble title equivalent to a Viscount (between a Baron and Earl in rank). Khoraj and Lukas also have horses.
After Lukas dismounts, the hand in the carriage passes out a small purse that is in turn passed to Lukas. Counting it, Lukas will find 60 gp in the purse, considerably more than the pony is worth.
"From the tavern near the border, the bandits rode in a northwesterly direction. It looked like they may have been heading toward the Belgrund Mountains. But, I only followed them for a short distance, before turning back. I would have liked to get revenge, but, I was outnumbered, and, our charge is more important than those horses." This statement came from the lone mounted soldier, who had remained quiet up until now.
One of the soldiers who had climbed out of the carriage, began to get Lukas' pony ready for riding, while the other soldier climbed up on top of the carriage next to the coachmen.
"We can see to it once we get this wagon to its destination. But for now we should be taking our leave." says Quin with a nod of his head.
"I'll go scout ahead a bit." he says as he trots off. He stops about 200 yards down the road and waits till the wagon comes into sight before moving on.

Ooc and what about selling horses? How many do we even have, except for the npcs?
