“Unfortunately, this little book does not mention the nature of each cache, it just mentions that he placed books, artworks and weapons in them. But, the weapons in the first cache, are not of Kwalmendi manufacture.”
After the meal, the party resumes its northwestward march. Several hours later, a mound becomes visible on the otherwise level grassland the party is marching across. As the party approaches it, it is clear that the mound is composed of a number of large rocks that appear to have been quarried. “According to the information I have, this is the remains of Woitech’s watch tower. It was apparently razed by Margref Kardagen during his war with Woitech.”
At this point, Vothrolo calls a halt to their trek, waiting for the sun to begin its descent. About two hours before sunset, the half-elf pulls out her notebook, and makes a few notations in it, before looking up to the party and saying “It is time to move in.”
The path Vothrolo takes is now directly toward the setting sun. As the sun is beginning to set, the party starts climbing up a very steep slope. Just as the party reaches the top, the sun finally slips behind the mountains. At this point, the party is looking down on a canyon. On the opposite side of a canyon, are a series of small pools and small waterfalls. At the lowest pool, about 15 feet above the canyon floor, a cave entrance can be seen adjacent to the 10 foot wide waterfall.
To the side of the cave entrance, two individuals can be seen sitting on a rock looking down the canyon, rather than up the side wall where the party is located.
In the dim light of dusk it is difficult to tell what race they are, although, it is clear to that they are too big to be goblins. Quin thinks they are probably humans or half-orcs. They look a little too bulky to be elves. Lukas isn't entirely sure that they aren't a couple deer. The two individuals do appear to be armed.
Quin backs away from the vantage point a bit while motioning the others to follow. Keeping his voice low he says, "Well let's backtrack a bit and see if we can find a way down. We'll move on them as quietly as we can. Draw them away would be better. Anybody have any ideas on that?"
Davril hesitates for a moment, "A glowing stone would certainly attract attention, but if they're observant, they may see you throw it and follow it back to us. Is our plan to avoid, kill, or observe them?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Well I was really thinking more along the lines of a sleep spell, but we can try the stone. Or maybe some animal noises. Rushing them kind of defeats the purpose of a stealthy approach." says Quin as he moves away from the cave looking for a way down. Once well out of ear shot he takes out some rope and searches for a place to tie off.
The sides of the canyon are not vertical, they have about a 20% slope. With minimal searching Quin is able to find a animal trail that winds down the slope. The slope and top of the canyon contain a forest of scrub oaks that are about 6 to 7 feet tall. The trees would probably provide a good anchor for a rope if it is necessary, although the rope won't reach the 200 feet down to the bottom of the canyon.
Quiller is unable to make out any additional details on the two humanoids sitting outside of the cave.
Quin whispers, "Perfect (Balthazar?). Quiller and I can get handle the rest from there. Does anybody have more rope? I have 50' but that won't make it all the way down." He ties off his part of the rope while the rest check their own packs.
(OCC:Sorry if I got the wrong name but with out an indicator in the signature or in the statement sometimes I forget who's who.)
"I have another 50 feet." *Lorgar hands the rope to Quinn, along with a small stone on which he cast Light.* "It seems you will be our pointman then - pocket the pebble. The shine should last just under an hour."
Quin accepts the pebble with a nod of thanks and ties on the additional 50. "Thanks! We'll leave everything attached in case we have to make a hasty retreat." he says "Or hopefully have to haul up a hefty chest." He adds with a wink.

"Again someone else is here first - they are surely looking for the same cache." says Lorgar quitely.
(Can we make out something more about them? Race, equipment? Do they lool like they are prepared for war? Any leads that there might be more?)

Quin squints a bit as he also tries to make out any defining features.

Davril shrugs, “It’s also an isolated cave, could just be more smugglers.”

"if you need a distraction, i can charge them."
"Would a glowing stone distract them? I could cast Light again on a pebble, and give it to you to discreetly throw it for them to investigate."
"well, if it's daft, and it's working, then it isn't daft." Lukas agrees to the distraction part of the plan.

Quiller will join Quin, whispering, "If we can both get down unseen we'd be in good position for a suprise attack if the folks uptop distract them."
He studies the figures, trying to discern what and who they might be.

"I am ready with my spellcraft - I can send them to sleep with ease if that is our aim."
