Edvord grunts as the spike pierces into his rib cage. He waits patiently as Lyss is assisted up, pressing his hands into his side to staunch the flow. When it is his turn he reaches again for the rope.
Cico pulls the rope up and unties it from the door then coils it up and stows it back in his pack. He then kneels by the door and looks carefully at the handle and around the edges, looking for any sign of trip wires or springs, or other trap mechanisms.
The lock doesn't seem magical. Lyss get's to work with her thieve's tools, expertly moving her picks with a steady hand. Unfortunately the lock seems a little too complicated for even her great skill and she's unable to get it open.
Edvord tugs at his goatee, "Perhaps there was a fork down the path we failed to choose. Or maybe the copper rods on the other path with the lightning are powering the arcane circle that fried Lyss? We don not have the pieces of this puzzle in front of us."
Aimee has a keen eye, but there are no secret passages in this room. Edvords point reminds you all that you have yet to try the left most path from the beginning with the “gold” sign

You hear a click as Cico’s nimble fingers find just the right spot to open the lock. The door swings open, as a small collection of steel spheres Of all different sized roll out of a compartment behind the door.
DC12 Dex save or be knocked prone and take 8 bludgeoning damage.
As the balls roll about beneath your feet, you see the room beyond the door. It’s littered with rubbish, and you think you can see the glint of coins and trinkets amongst the mess. Even the walls of this place seem a lot dirtier than the rest of the alley and it’s connecting buildings so far. The tan bricks are stained and worn.
(I assumed nobody was there to help you since the decision was made to try the door again and nobody offered. So you’d still be standing at the top of the ledge down to the spikes as these metal balls roll towards you.)

It looks like some kind of key would be needed. Surely in a place this designed it wouldn't just be an impassible door.
