“I assume you’re speaking of the tragic events this morning in the North Ward?” He waves a hand at a worked up Yagra to settle down, shut up or both. “I hear the city watch is hard at work investigating. More than I can say for the killings in the dock ward of late. Of course, it has long been the case that crimes against those without money or titles is overlooked. But of course, I am more than happy to comply with your investigation sir, though I doubt I will be much help. What brings your enquiries to Yagra and I?”
Aldrik responds.
"Aye, so the Watch says. But sometimes there are people who won't talk to a Watchman, but might be more willing to discuss interesting rumors and news with a fellow tavern patron. And I'm sure a man of your nature, Master Starsong, hears all sorts of fascinating tales. I was just telling Yagra about my latest adventure in the Blue Alley. A place of devious traps and villiany, which hopefully we've bested enough to not trouble others again. Lost an acquaintance to the place. I will admit I have not heard news concerning killings in the dock ward. I don't suppose they were perpretrated by man-sized marionettes lobbing fireballs at innocents?"
"That is a fair line of enquiry. Though, I don't know who you are trying to impress with your tales of adventure. Some seek out adventure frivolously while others must do it to survive. I do not believe you are of the latter, and it is an assumption on your part that I was of the former. After all, aren't all Sun Elves so aloof and privileged?" Davil beckons Yagra for a word. "Yagra was concerned that you may be making a subtle brag about the killings up in the North Ward. I will not make any assumptions, so I will just be straight with you. I am not affiliated with anyone who was at the scene, but if they had snake tatoos as you said, I may be able to help. My help does not come for free though. These killings in the Dock Ward were not explosions, but seemed to be the result of foreign technology. A small piece of metal called a 'bullet' was found in the bodies. I would investigate further, but my associate's presence would be assumed to be nefarious amongst the watch."
Meanwhile, Aimee see's Threestring's eyes wander towards a red haired waitress.
Aldrik gives a sly smile. "I meant no offense, nor presumption of motive based on your kin. I also did not mention snake tattoos to either you or Yagra."
Before a response, Aldrik continues. "Now, the fact that someone is taking these... bullets, as you call them, to cause murders. Like a child's sling? You are implying they are something far more sinister." He glances over to Arquette. "The watch isn't worth the coin we are taxed for them. While it might not be my business, per se, it does tangentially intersect if you know about the marked individuals that got blown up at my investment property. What do you know of the victims of these bullets?"
Starsong smiles as Aldrik takes interest in his task "Sinister indeed. There have been three victims so far, one elven and two half elves. All three were sailors. Their bodies were all found in the vicinity of The Muleskull Tavern. A not so popular dive bar frequented by members of the dungsweepers guild. It has been particularly difficult for us to investigate, as the watch is far more vigilant about watching our actions than looking into these crimes."
The red haired waitress rushes around, flustered as she tries to balance a giant pile of dirty plates. As the first notes of three strings racket fill the air she breaths a sigh of relief and gazes doe-eyed at the bard.
Three-fingers starting to play music again is one sensory cacophony too many and Cico gets up and steps outside of the Yawing Portal. At least the outside air, as unpleasant as Waterdeep's aroma can be, helps clear his head. He leans against the wall next to the main door, watching the world go by, calmer now and happy to wait for the others to be done inside.
"Sounds delightful, though who knows what secrets are swept up withe the rest of the refuse in this city. I imagine the coroner's guild has already completed their grim work, and taken away the bodies. Were they killed there at the tavern, or shot elsewhere and then dumped there?"Aldrik pauses. "We can see about investigating these further at the scene as well, however..."
He looks over Starsong. "I understand your hesitance and requiring a bit of tit-for-tat before sharing resources with a stranger, but if you do know of anything regarding my set of murders right now, surely a man of good heart and standing cannot simply stand by and let a villian continue his foul work unopposed. If, on the other hand, you must put assets into motion on my case while we slip under the Watch on yours, so that we might all ultimately learn more of those we face, that might be an agreeable deal to make."
Havi gives a slow nod,"A small world indeed, last I heard you were studying some ancient elven dance. Now, I hear you materialised here following dark forces. Did you tire of the mundane magics they pedalled back in that dusty library?
Aldrik
Davil smiles, impressed at Aldrik's charm, "Well, that seems like a fair deal. This Urstul Floxin and his faction, I hear he's staying at a villa in the Sea Ward, partnered up with a noble. They're seeking a stone, the stone of Golorr they call it. As for the gnome, I hear he was seen around the Neverember manor, keeping tabs on Ranaer. I believe the man's father has been keeping tabs on him.
Kerri
Bonnie smiles, a big toothy grin. "Why that'll be me. Did you want to give feedback on my service? I'm always trying to do my best and constructive criticism is always welcome!"
Aimee will find Cico just leaning against the wall of the Yawning Portal, watching people move about in the street. But if she looks more closely, she'll also notice his breathing is slow, deliberate and very rhythmic. While his eyes remain alert, his body is almost in a meditative state.
He nods when he sees Aimee.
"Do you know why we are still here?" Cico asks Aimee.
Edvord ignores Havi's the jabs about elven dancing, "Dark forces...? You mean the Reinholdt Trading Company? My father thought it best for me to return... and try to keep my reprobrate brother on a short leash..."The mage nods his head over in Aldrik's direction. "You are right about one thing, the magic they pedalled was mundane... though there is always knowledge available in a library to those who know how to find it." He stops to take a sip of his drink before finishing, "How about yourself? I knew there was always a bit of fricition between you and the Keepers... but I never did figure out the full story."
<Aimee, did you find Cico? Did he get bored, I'm getting kind of bored. None of the grownups told me why we're even here. Does he want to go find something fun to do?>
Lyss whispers to Aimee (if she's within 120ft).
