Brand shoulders past the others and holds out a hand. Ducking low, he strides through the door, simply diplacing the resident behind the swinging obstacle in the process. Leaning around the door, Brand had the look of a dragon in a cramped cavern discovering prey, "Rats. Where?" To drive his point, the goblin is greeted by the emergence of a massive knife.

"The mongoose blew out its candle and was asleep in bed before the room went dark." —Llanowar fable
As Brand forces the door open and enters the goblins abode Skabb enters behind him. "As my rather intimidating companion here tries to say. Yes, we are here to help you with your rat problem. Would you please show us the way?" He lets his axe hang limp down by his side but with a firm grip around the handle, looking around the goblin home, trying to discern how much money they can expect from the job by looking at the interior.
Oikz stumbles backward as everyone enters his home. He is, indeed, a goblin as confirmed by your eyes. He looks unwashed and shaky as he stumbles around trying to regain his balance. He grumbles in a low tone what sounds like gibberish complaints about the cow man who barged into his home. He waddles to the front, one of his legs apparently lame, and leads you down the hall. The building, made of plaster it seems like, had a disgusting yellow stain that spanned the entirety of the lower half of the walls around you. There are doors opposite each other as you move, but you don't hear signs of others living in this building.
At the end of the hall, Oikz cracks open a door and gestures you to it. It is a door that leads to a stairway that descends to the fabled basement. Oikz mumbles to you some instructions.
"Da rats, they bigguns. Five of them. Slay em' n' come back up. Handsome reward," Oikz holds up a shiny gold coin. "More n' jus this. Lots. Lots of coins. But..." He looks around suspiciously at you all. "No go beyond painting... prize painting... don't... don't look at it! Don't touch!"
Whenever you all descend the stairs, you will find yourself in a long hallway. There are a couple torches that line the hall, already lit. At the end of the hall is a doorway. How do you proceed?

Jiron follows the others, staying towards the middle. At the door he unlatches the barrel of the Thundercannon and places inside it a small lead object, like a cylinder, but one end curving to a rounded point.
Bonus Action: Load Thundercannon.
Jiron looks at Oikz, suspicious about the actual payout, but cleaning out the rats was a nice thing to do, and it might be a nice start for the savings for the gift, if not all of it. Then the goblin mentions the painting, and the hobgoblin raises a brow. He follows the others in after studying Oikz's face for a moment, then closes the door. "What do you guys say we take a careful look at the painting before we head back up?" Jiron whispers to the others once they about 10ft down the staircase.

Shahk has little idea if the reward offered is worth the offensive stench that costs his nostrils, but no one else seemed to be storming out. He follows the party and simply nods when they ask about looking at the painting. He's mostly curious about what could make it so prized.
Shahk really doesn't want to go in first. His skills were not so much based about being mauled by rats. He raises his hands, ready to cast his magic as soon as he has a solid line of sight on them.
Skabb pulls out his axe and shield, crouching slightly and makes his way to the front of the group. "Those of you who fight up close, stay right behind me", he whispers. "The rats probably have pretty good hearing, and i´m not much of a sneaky fellow." He points to his armour. "Makes a hell of a lot of noice. So unless any of you guys want to take i peek in that door. I suggest that we move along with me in the front. This thing may not be suited for a stealthy approach, but it can take quite a wallop".
Skabb hasn´t been in a fight for quite some time. He has fought a couple of rather large rodents back home, but his journey to Dorborden was rather peaceful and he managed to talk his way out of a meeting with some unruly orcs. He doesn´t fear though. He is convinced that the party can do their share of carnage to.

Skabbs voice has turned into a rather low hissing sound as he gets ready for combat. "Stay behind, i will take as many blows as i can. And you, Jiron," Skabb points his only sharp claw, or his reading claw as he likes to call it, to the hobgoblin. "Now you get to show us how your magnificent contraption works!" Skabb starts walking towards the entrance, looking for the pesky rodents ahead.
