This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kiellie looks around at the Golems and notices they're rags on. "Well these guys do not look like they have much on them but if we get the one to help us he could carry our stuff." She looks at each one trying to decide who is the one that don't belongs. "You will tell me if you do not want to look any worse than you already do!" she demands.
Intimidation 25
ooc: I will be away for a bit but try and be back on tonight.
Unless Kiellie's intimidation works, Kevash will walk forward and turn back to the others "Hmmm I believe the answer is 9. None of the others can be divided such as 9"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Ah, geez, out for a day and I come back to puzzles! This is interesting...
"One of these doesn't belong?" Tell squints at the set of lumbering flesh-mountains in front of the group. "I dunno, you all look about the same amount of ugly to me..." She shrugs and moves to stand by Kiellie, maul at the ready, while Kevash seems to be working something over in his head. "Well, just in case they don't like Kevash's mathin' over there, I'm happy to help you beat an answer out of 'em!"
OOC2: I agree with Kevash's answer and will let the golems react to that first, but if they don't like it then here's a backup Intimidation to scare 'em along with Kiellie: 18
"Well, would you look at that! You're brighter than a lighthouse in a storm, Kevash. I wouldn't've figured that out if my life depended on it -- and it very likely did!" Boresh claps his Dragonborn friend square on the back. "Kiellie has a point, maybe this unsightly skinjob could be put to use carrying our loads, and he... she...? 'it' can start with this bag of loot I liberated from the last room."
Before entrusting the sack to their newly-appointed mule, Boresh pulls out the wand of paralysis, ring of flying, and potion of silver dragon control. "We can split the jewelry and gems later, but might want to hang onto these separately; they may come in use in the encounters to come."
He hands Kevash the wand. "Here you go, Scales," he says, referring to him with a term of endearment earned during some moment lost in time. "I know you're particularly fond of these kinds of trinkets, and you got us through this last puzzle unscathed so it's only right you're rewarded for your cunning."
Turning to the others, he offers the remaining items. "I myself prefer to rely on my own strength and song to get me through a fight, so whoever might want the ring and the potion, help yourselves!"
Kevash practically goes head over tail with the strong clap on his back. Still, he manages to just stumble forward, slumping into the arms of the golem before them. "Ah eh...ummm " Kevash clears his throat and dusts himself off, standing back up. "Thank you, Boresh. I am humbled to accept your gift. " He stowed the wand away for later. "Now, let us try out our new friend, eh?" Kevash points toward the other end of the room. "Golem, open that door!" He pugged out his chest and tried to look as official and commanding as possible.
GM: Going to lead the party a little ahead to the next obstacle. The group doesn't necessarily have to go that way, but I'll set up the next couple areas in case they do.
If the party goes through the door:
They are led up a staircase, through a turn style and around a corner to an open entrance. No traps, secrets, etc., to uncover. If you look through the entrance you see:
This will take a little explaining so I'll try my best. There is a pic in the module that will help illustrate:
There is a stone platform the party can stand on, just past the entryway. You see a large natural cave before you. The ceiling rises 50 feet above the platform. The floor of the cave is 50 feet below it. It is covered in a pool of boiling mud. Point A in the pic is a geyser that spouts every five minutes. Point B is a geyser that spouts every three minutes. 90 feet away from the party's platform is another stone platform. Between the platforms are a series of wooden disks suspended by massive steel chains. The discs are four feet in diameter and three feet apart. The disks swing freely and will tilt when weight is put on them.
The disks, chains and cavern walls are covered with a slippery algae scum that gives off a feeble phosphorescent glow (if wondering, its harmless). The opposite stone platform features another door (GM hint: its a very important one...)
So, according to the module this is a pretty high risk challenge, without going into the gory details. I think the best way to handle it is to have everyone do a series of strength checks, one for each platform to see if you can jump across to the other side. If you fall, you might have to take some damage, but it won't be fatal. If anyone has rope, we could just assume the rope is thrown down to pull up whoever falls.
I'll also point out that the party has a ring of flying now, so at least one person can probably bypass the platforms entirely with the ring. Now that I think of it, someone has a pair of boots that let them climb walls, so two might be able to go completely around the disks. Its a lot of dice rolling, but if you wanted to strength check your leap from platform to platform, it would be nine. Be back later this afternoon.
(OOC: GM, would you allow Strength (Athletics) and/or Dexterity (Acrobatics) checks in clearing the jumps as well? To put those skills to use in case we're proficient in them, aside from raw strength ;)
Who has those methods of bypassing the jumps? Kevash has his magic sandals. Boresh is skilled in Athletics and has decent strength so he can go pretend to be Super Mario, and someone else can use the Ring of Flying.)
"With my special sandals I can walk on the wall. We have a ring of flying, thanks to a Boresh. I can alsoConjure Animalsand summon large bats to carry the rest of us across." He turns to look at the dangling platforms. "I wish to prevent as much harm to my friends as possible. I cannot summon anything big enough to get the Golem as well. So it will need to best the trial...." Kevash scratches his chin for a moment in thought. "I can summon four large bats, good for one person each. I can walk the walls without effort. Then perhaps, we can use the ring of flying on our new Golem friend...have him fly across"
Shariel steps to the edge of the platform and looks over the edge, "I hear some people use this kind of stuff for beauty. Anyone want to tske a dip?" The elf steps back to the door and slings her bow. Getting the headstart, Shariel charges padt her companions and leaps without regard to aiming or landing. Down, down she plunges, cheering in ecstasy as the rush of freefall.
No sooner had someone reached the edge, did they realize the elf was nowhere to be found. Across the chasm, Shariel sat on the edge of the opposite platform, swinging her legs and watching the commotion of her party. Looking down at the center of her focus, she yells, "If you look hard enough, maybe a dragon will come up and fly you across!"

Got to hand it to the party for the good planning :D Definitely wouldn't have wanted to fail the jumps. If everyone's on board the flying bat/ring plan guess Boresh won't have to worry about super mario-ing it. Otherwise, I would say either acrobatics or athletics would be applicable to attempting the jumps.

On the opposite platform the party sees a wooden door. There's a crack in the wood wide enough to peer through, but you can't see anything on the other side. Whatever is in the room, its covered in total darkness. It is completely silent on the other side.

"Perhaps Kiellie or Boresh would like to grasp leadership on this one? Either is fantastic for uh...forced entry...so it seems" Kevash just scratches under the chin of one of his giant bats.
Tell gives a low whistle as she hops down off the bat's back. "Four bats big enough to carry a big guy like Boresh and all this armor around, eh... that's pretty impressive, innit? Anyway, I guess I could look at the door, too—I can see pretty okay in the dark—but I figure since Kiellie makes a livin' outta looking for things, she's probably better at it than me! 'Course, if all you want is that crack widened enough to walk through, I'm more'n ready for that!" She laughs and shoulders the maul, then returns to admiring the giant bat. "That's a hell of a spell... wish I could do somethin' like that, heh."
Kevash prods the crack with his staff "I would not be opposed to just smashing it, Tell" He gives a toothy grin. "You like them, Tell? They are my friends. The bat is my first summon and bond. I enjoy them greatly."

Shariel readies an arrow, trying to peer through the door over everyone's heads and shoulders.

Couple of questions: Is Boresh doing the honors of opening the door? And in case fighting breaks out, will the party use the golem or keep it out of danger?

OOC: I was thinking of letting the others take point on this encounter because I already had a solid puzzle-solving segment earlier, and it'd be good to give the other players a chance to play. But sure, Boresh can bust in along with Tell if KPhoenix is up for it. Can those of us with darkvision make out anything inside though, or does it appear to be a magical darkness which nothing short of truesight can penetrate?

The golems are completely unfazed by any attempt to intimidate them. However, Kevash did manage to give the right answer.
"That is correct," Golem No. 5 says to Kevash.
Golem No. 9 shambles toward the party, looking at no one in particular. "Your will is my command," it says in a monotone voice.
The rest of the golems resume their positions against the wall and stare blankly into the distance as if deactivated.
