Io decides that standing guard with weapons drawn to show that its serious is as good as route as any. He slaps down his visor to cover and protect his face and takes position at the other side of Gnorcys. He draws his long sword. for added effect of seriousness.
Persuasion: 7; if advantage from any of these things hapoening, 15. Fog cloud still up.
Ritha cast thaumaturgy, and her voice booms as it rolls out over the deck of the ship, several times louder than the noise. „Lay down your arms! Just as you cannot see through the fog, you cannot know what lies in your brothers and sisters‘ hearts! All that we you can know with certainty, is that no one wishes our wondrous journey to end in death!“
Several more thuds sound as another sleep spell takes more of the fighters out of commission. Kanlos and Io move through the dense fog, over to stand next to Gnorcys. The fog makes their holding of weapons fairly unnoticed, as no one can see them in the fog anyway.
Ritha shouts over the nearly-silent ship. There is a few curses from inside the fog still, but the fighting has pretty much stopped with the casting of sleep again.
"Return to your posts." Gnorcys calls out after the thunder of Ritha's voice fades. "I will meet with those involved here and see what we can do about the issues." She pauses a moment. "Can someone get rid of this fog?" She asks.
The rest of that day is spent moving at a slower pace. Gnorcys has meetings with every member of the crew. In the end the one doing the shabby work is given extra penance. They are moved off of the rigging and placed in a lesser position. This seems to make the rest of the crew happier, but insightful people would see that the individual given the lesser duties is quite unhappy.
The rest of that day passes, and the following day also moves along without anything untward happening. That night though strange lights appear in the night. No one aboard ship knows what they are, and the group is brought up to see if anyone has any ideas.
In the distance ahead of the ship strange lights are appearing far in the distance ahead. The water in this area is becalmed, the oars having been brought out and the sails taken down.
ooc: Did Xerronios find any tomes on the island that would help his magical research?
As the days pass, Xerronios finds opportunities to speak with the unhappy crew-member, trying to draw out what happened to start the fight, what's troubling the person, and to perhaps get the crew member to accept the consequences of the actions and fight.

He also spends as much time as possible on his project to create a magical instrument. These early attempts are focused on the shawm as Xerronios does not wish to damage the lute in his ignorance. He has decided to imbue the final product with the ability to cast minor magic up to 3 times per day [ooc: in others 3 charges of either Charm Person, Sleep, or Tasha's Hideous Laughter. If it's too much for his neophyte skill for the instrument to be able to do all 3, then he would focus on THL.]
Arcana 3 Investigation 20
As the ship approaches the distant lights, Xerronios moves the prow to see what he can see and see if he can recognize anything.
Io steps up to the ship. He looks around and notices the lights and the sea is calm. He takes out his long sword in case the current unusual set of circumstance is the early sign of some danger. He tries to think if he can come up with an explanation for the lights and the situation in general.
((Not sure what to roll here. I want to roll something to see if Io would know anything about the strange lights))

No, you did not find any books.
You can only do one of the spells at this time. It takes 2 full work weeks to complete this item. Since you rolled so low on Arcana, you do not make any progress towards this time.

Nature would be a good option. Arcana another. You could also do Survival, but that would be a higher DC.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
At times like this he wished that the Court Mage was there. He was not someone Io likes but he had to admit that the man knew a lot about the arcane arts. After what he attempted to do one day when Io was away, he deserved the fate of being turned to stone. Still Io still tried to remember the ramblings of that man to try and make sense of what he sees in the present. Perhaps Athreos can bless him with the mental clarity to recall the piece of ramblings that he needed?
Io, from this distance, they could be torches for all you can tell with your recall of the arcane mutterings of the old windbag.
Gnorcys walks up to the group. "We either need to keep rowing towards the light, or row so as to move around them." She informs you all. "Lights usually means land though, so I am loath to turn aside, unless you have dire warnings to pass on." She looks to you all for some idea of the danger ahead.
Kanlos shrugs again, "Perhaps advance at an angle so that we can turn towards or away as needed once we're close enough to get a better idea of what's causing the lights?"
Xerronios gazes thoughtfully at the odd lights, trying to consider what they might be. Had he ever seen anything like this?

They bob and move in the distance, so torches are your best guess, though they don't flicker as much as you would expect, so you are not sure. Maybe lanterns...
"If it is an island, then we will want to check it out." Gnorcys reminds the group. "If something else, then I would rather not get caught up in whatever it is." She looks thoughtful, nodding at Kanlos's suggestion. "Likely our best bet." The ship's corse is adjusted, and you move forward, powered by the rowers.
As night deepens around you, you come closer to the lights. Please give me another check, knowledge or survival-based, as to see if you can recognize the lights yet.

You notice that the lights move around, they are not stationary. They are too far away to tell more than that.

Reaching into his bag, he sits on the deck and pulls out his augury sticks.
”O, goddess of Fate. Should we investigated the those lights or go around them? What will serve fate best?”
He casts the sticks and reads the answer.
