Fire consumes the dukuns hut, whether the old man was truly possessed or simply insane with dark power who can truly say. But the prisoners have been released and the road made safe again.
On the way back to the village, Mal will divide up the ingots among the group. five silver's worth to each of Jupp, Uce, Krikoris, Cinta, and Khutulun. He hangs on to the gourd for the moment, and will ask someone about it when they get back to the village.
Krikoris watches carefully as the fire burns, ensuring it eliminates all trace of the abominable acts. As the others gather up the survivors, he follows along, taking his share of the coin. As they move forward, "Wasn't there something we needed to ask one of them?"
A number of the rescued prisoners have already departed into the jungle perhaps to further settlements or kampungs but the majority remain and watch the fire, some whispering prayers for the departed.
The two richly dressed men stay close to Malambing, seeming to see if not a kinship at least a shared upbringing in the same town.
" So, we're heading back before dark, right?", one of them said peering fearfully at the dense rainforest.
"Any ideas why the Dukun would be using a potion that eliminates the ability to sleep?" Cinta asks the remaining villagers as she casually leans against her pole to scratch her shoulder where the prosthetic meets.

The old woman rubs her chin, " Perhaps it spoke to him in his dreams? Anything that could turn a man to such practices I would want to avoid speaking with."
" Or it was part of a ritual? I don't really know.", she shrugged.
Krikoris follows along with the group, doing his best to utilize some basic magics to clean up the rescued people. Prestidigitation
Jupp determines that the majority are suffering from malnutrition but there are no major injuries among them and Krikoris' ministrations have them looking clean and well kempt despite their ordeal.
Many of them whistle along to Uces songs of the ocean and a number add their own village tunes to the marching song.
Mal collects a lot of village gossip and news regarding harvests and the like as well as two rumours. ( A Babi Ngepet ( were-boar) is said to be troubling one of the mountain villages, another rumour seems to be that some of the trees are taking exception to logging and destroying camps to the north).
As the troupe travels it slowly dwindles in size as people are returned to the arms of their families and the companions begin to amass quite a large haul of gifts from thankful families and by the time they reach the Farm Gate again they are heavily laden.....though only the two wealthy men and the old woman remain with them.
Gifts-
20lbs of dry jasmine rice
30 mangoes
6 durian
8 jackfruit

15 lbs cassava
40 mangosteen

Now safely back in the city what is your next destination?
Khutulun thanks the villages for there gifts as they travel, saying that it is not necessary, waving them away or directing them to be given to others. As they go she keeps a close eye on Abet.
"Abet, we had better go and reunite you with your friend. We have further maters to talk about."
Giving the other two with them a nod and her usual bow with her right hand in a fist, covered by her left hand, she add, "Unless either of you need further assistance, I will make sure Abet arrives safety?"

Krikoris graciously thanks the villagers for the gifts, though he looks really puzzled by what they are. When there's a quiet moment, he'll lean over to Mal, "Ok, I know what the chickens are, and I'm pretty sure the rest of this is food, but is it?"
Mal looks at the hoard, his eyes partly glazed over. This was truly a feast! When Krikoris shakes him out of his reverie, Mal says "Oh yes, some of this is the most wonderful food you've ever had. Those are mangoes, especially sweet, with a large stone. The big one with the little spikes is called a jackfruit, and it's a very filling plant that tastes a little like apples and bananas. Very good when cooked with other things. The brown ones there are cassavas, they are roots and can be made into delicious cakes. The kangkung there, the little leafy greens, that's what you might call 'water spinach' - it's really masarap - tasty, I mean - when you stir fry it. Those round ones that are starting to turn purple are called mangosteens - they're ripe when they're fully purple, and inside they have a bright, tart and sweet meat. The medium sized ones with the big spikes? Those are durian - a true delicacy. It is said that a visitor to these lands can be considered a native when he is gifted a durian, if he eats the whole fruit." Mal grins.

"We will journey back now and those that wish to come with us can. We also are here to take Abet back to town."
Khutulun stands still, tilting her head to one side as she regards those infront of her.

The one who just spoke looks at Khutulun as she says his name.
" He sent you to rescue me?", his face lights up with a beatific smile and he does an awkward little dance.
Looking slightly embarassed he smooths down his silk batik and touches his faint mustache, " I knew he would!"

"Well... there is no sense to stand on ceremony for anyone's sake. Shall we move onward?" Cinta suggests as she begins to move forward.
