"Why are you confident he is no murderer? It is clear you share his bias about the castes you humans live under" she says with a bland, dismissive expression.
Insight 9
Madu stared at her nonplussed for a moment, " I've known him for years....I mean he was getting frustrated with the old goat....uh, gentleman...but he...well...I suppose its possible...heat of the moment sort of thing..."
Madu looked at the ground and ground his teeth.
" It is true. I don't know for sure.....", he said looking crestfallen.
Krikoris looks at the man for a long moment, before nodding and pulling out a single gold coin and handing it to him, "I understand you are doing what you believe is right, as are we. No one should live in misery. But his actions will only cause more," gesturing around the room at the man's fallen companions, "He must be stopped."
Malambing carefully opened the door and saw a door immediately to the left as Madu had said.
Listening at the door Malambing heard a man whistling, looking over his shoulder along the corridor of the ruined villa he could hear other soft voices in the distance.
Mal indicates with his hands what he hears to the group. He stows his shortbow, and raps twice on the door in a businesslike manner.
DM:
Mal will not answer if the person inside calls out, instead he'll wait for the door to open and then he'll try to grab the occupant and clamp a hand over his mouth to prevent cries of alarm. Lemme know what I need to roll if it comes to that, please.

" Come in. Its not locked.", called out a slightly bored voice from inside.
After several seconds.....
" Hello? What the..."
Malambings keen hearing detects the sound of a blade being drawn from an oiled scabbard.
Mal uses his street slang hand gestures to indicate that he believes the big boss Seto is behind the door, and that he's bargaining. To those not fluent in Thieves Cant, it looks like subtle gesticulation but is otherwise unintelligible.
Krikoris moves up towards the door and presses one hand against it, using simple magics to create the smell of burning human flesh to come wafting through the door to those on the other side, "Perhaps you could open the door and we can discuss this face to face? Too much room for misunderstandings talking through a door."
" Well....as I said before, its not locked. And you've either killed a few dozen of my people or.......through the ruins? Hopefully not too many innocents have died."

"Well then we have little time to waste... let us continue. Unless there is anything else that we should know about what is ahead of us?"

Madu shook his head tightly and with a tired voice said, " No."
Jupp heard the sound of wood scraping on wood from beyond the door at the top of the stairs.
If it did lead to a study like Madu had said it seemed to be currently occupied....
Krikoris moves over towards the stairs and glances at the others, "Ready when you are."
Uce nods.
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Mal nocks another arrow, and nods as well.
"Yes" she whispers.

" Mahogany, Trepang, Keris."
Mal alerts the others, and draws his shortsword.
Krikoris readies himself for combat, calling on his blood once more.
(Burning sorcery points to regain his spell slot.)
Uce is also readying his weapon.
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
The voice projected from beyond the door.
" Well, you don't know the code so I'll assume your enemies. I don't care who you work for, if you managed to get in here your skilled."
" I'm prepared to double whatever your being paid if you would like to assist in our good works."

Prestidigitation (Create an odd odor.)
" Well....as I said before, its not locked. And you've either killed a few dozen of my people or.......through the ruins? Hopefully not too many innocents have died."
" By all means come in."
This was not the reception Mal was expecting, so he looks to Khutulun for guidance.
