"If the uniforms of the Captain and his guards are serviceable, maybe we can disguise ourselves? We'd need to make our way back to the last room, but we can dress in their armor and lead Uce out as our 'prisoner.'" Mal doesn't like the idea of going back through the shrine either.
Krikoris looks puzzled at the hesitation of going deeper in, "If the source is further inside, shouldn't we go there to put an end to it? As for sneaking out, some of us would have difficulty passing as a soldier, at least in daylight. Maybe a night."
"If we wait until night, we're likely to be discovered. If we try to sneak out in disguise, we run a very serious risk of having to fight the rest of the men in the camp. We may have to go through the Shrine of the Maw to get out ...safely." Mal gulps a little.
( So whats the decision? Note, though the other northern complex lies beneath the Shrine it may not have any physical connection to the modern parts of the building..unless you make/locate one.)
The group carefully made their way back into the central temple chamber without issue, as they made their way towards the eastern corridor out of the complex they heard voices from the south but seemingly went unheard themselves. They moved into the corridor and made their way carefully towards the exit to the surface, many voices could be heard above in discussions over breakfast and more than a couple of the companions stomachs grumbled in response.
Reaching the hole to the surface they instead turned up the northward long corridor and made their way along it.
About 30' down the corridor they found a piece of wood placed across the corridor with fresh paint in the same hand-writing they had seen earlier. "No Entry without Express Permission."
There were no torches afixed to the walls from this point on the corridor was dark....
Krikoris proves to be both stealthy and observant as he guides the others ahead, the current corridor ends eventually in a solid mahogany door, to the left and right long carved corridors stretch off their floors coated in ancient dust.
Uce nods. "I'll follow as well."
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.

"At least that sounds like some kind of plan Mal. What does everyone else think?"

"It could be less busy than here? Maybe it is a better option, at least to avoid detection for now?"

(Krikoris would vote headed further in.)
Uce would too

Mal turns to the others and says "I can sneak ahead, but I'm useless in the dark - maybe someone who can see should take the lead?"
Krikoris shrugs, "I can, but I have a torch as well if we want the light?"

Krikoris proves to be both stealthy and observant as he guides the others ahead, the current corridor ends eventually in a solid mahogany door, to the left and right long carved corridors stretch off their floors coated in ancient dust.
Mal pads up to the door, and starts feeling around, inspecting it for traps. Perception: 11
The door is badly swollen from damp but does not appear to be trapped at all, it will likely take some muscle to open.
He hears nothing down the two passages which stretch out either side of him.
"This could be a useful hiding spot in a pinch - it doesn't look like it's been opened in a long time. Can someone help me open it?"
Khutulun steps forward to help.
