Lucan is shaken from his revelry by screaming and the sounds of combat. He says, "My, aren't you an ugly one?" He casts [spell] vicious mockery [spell/]. 2 psychic damage on a failed save.
Reacting quickly, Sergei leaps out of the way to the back corner where and bolt of dark power springs from his palm and strikes the spirit. It leaves a dark, filmy stain across its spectral form. A sickly, gnarled hand forms from the air and begins to strangle the apparition. It seems almost surprised at this. Skip's dagger and rapier slash through its form, and Thadalas's arrow glides through its gaping maw. Rudick swings towards it, but it phases out of reality a split second before you strike, and then it reappears.
Specter Life Drain: Attack: 8 Damage: 10 points of necrotic damage to Skip. If that hits, you need to make Constitution Save or have your max hp reduced by the same amount.
The specter lashes out towards Skip, but Lucan's words distract it. It misses as its blow swings above your head.
Sergei is cursing himself, he knew this was a trap, he knows that everything here is hellbent on killing them. He slashes the air again with black fire.

Rudick spits off to the side and scowls at the specter of death. "Hold still you old biddy!" He demanded, and as a precaution took a moment to try gauging when she's at her most unaware. In that moment he then struck hard and fast, hoping more than certain after seeing the attacks of others that the strike might at least hasten her discorparation than anything else. For hope and faith is all he had to rely on.

Hissing a sharp breath at what was undoubtedly a close call with the wraiths attack (AC is 15), thanking his stars that he is so short, Skip glides back into the fray on the back of Rudicks attack
Not knowing if the skeleton-ghost-hand...thing did anything good and still unsure of what that was exactly, Alev takes a deep breath and focus. "No weird new stuff, there's no time for that, give me something fiery..." He says to himself as he tries to remember the words for the spell. Finally, something seems comes to mind, and without a second thought he casts it.
He opens his hand, and three small lights start to glow and float into the air. Once high enough, they take on the shape of glowing darts, and he sends them against the spirit with a wave of his hand.

Thadalas will step further back, if possible, being more comfortable with a distance while shooting his arrows. He'll nock another arrow and will fire upon the ghastly maid.
Thadalas looks worried for a moment; as seeing a ghost is quite surprising. "Anyone else get the feeling we may be over our heads?" Thadalas asks the others, feeling unprepared to contend spirits as he's accustomed to hunting wild beasts and potentially werewolves.
Sergei has a mix of emotions welling up in him. He’s shaken by the horrific event with the not-baby. He’s fully convinced that this house, or something in it, is toying with them, luring them on into greater danger. He feels tricked by the children and now suspects that they were part of the trap, as well. There may well be a “monster in the basement” but he does not feel beholden to anyone to seek it out, at this point. He voices his concerns to the group and emphasizes that there’s no point in proceeding.
“We should all go straight downstairs and leave.” Having said that, Sergei moves to the stairs to do just that.
As the ghost fades after his missiles strike it, Alev forgets for a moment of the terror he was feeling and the general horror of the situation. He was just aware that his attack had worked and that he had killed the monster... Or re-killed it? Killed it again? He doesn't know.
"Take that, take that and go back to hell, you freak!" He exclaims dramatically like an excited kid, hopping in the air."And go tell the rest that it was I, Alev the Wildcard, who sent you there!"
After that childish outburst brought by the feeling of triumph after a very scary day, he goes back to reality with the realization that he just made himself look like a clown in front of all his new allies.
"...Yes, this entire house does seem like a trap." He says with all the seriousness he can muster, feathers puffed.

"Hardly." Rudick had immediately answered Thadalas alongside a smirk, not that anyone could see past the helm. But despite such claims the Orc had been less quick to respond to Sergei's (and especially Lucan's) counterpoint. Yet, after that moment's pause, and a glance to Alev for good measure, he finally asked in frank terms, "If you believe this to be a trap... why do you two believe that you can just walk out?"There's a pause to let the words sink in, before he pressing on. "Before, I hardly paid your talks of the fog much mind. This I confess, because young lives were in danger. But given what happened, for one, why do you think we have better odds trying to leave? To brave what, at best, will blind us and make us easier pickings for whatever other monster roams the mist. Or at worse, has some other magic tied to it that will overwhelm us."
He then holds up his hammer closer to face level, and wags it like one would a finger. "If this house is as alive as you that one says-" he gestures over to Lucan. "It can be slain. Mist can't... But by all means, do try to leave. See if it will let you. And if it does, I wonder how far you'll get before being snatched up." He said, then huffed and shook his head. "For now, we go down a level. Steady our nerves. And those capable of wearing the armor should it put them to use considering the dangers."
Choosing then to lead by example, Rudick made for the stairs leading down to the second floor. As he didn't care much for the helmet designs, he gives his chosen set a good tap to its helmet prior to working himself out of one set of armor and into the next.
Sergei insists on satisfying his curiosity. He did it with the baby, therefore he can do it with the front door and the mists. He continues right on down to the ground floor and tries the front door. If it opens, he won’t leave yet but he will call out to his comrades. Also. Are the children still in the entryway where they’d been instructed to wait? If so, Sergei would like some words with them...
Sergei, you march your way downstairs with a purposeful stride. You make your way to the entry hall to speak with the children when you witness a scene that chills you to your core. Blood stains everything in this small hall. It runs in rivulets down the walls, and the smell of carnage is overwhelming. Blood drips from the ceiling and splatters on you like a gentle rain. What is the most horrifying is when you see the body of Thorn being pulled underneath a rug by an unknown force and disappearing, his mouth open in an unvoiced scream. You have a feeling of dread that the house just ate him. Written in bloody letters scratched into the floor, you read, "You can't leave that easily. "
Sergei staggers back and probably screams, he's not sure. He runs back up the stairs to be with the rest of the group. He gulps air but keeps the horrific vision to himself. He doesn't want to alarm the others, or at least, that's what he tells himself. Really he doesn't want to rehash it. He's already trying to forget it.
Skip, seeing Sergei come back into the room, can’t help but needle him a little, thinking he is funny “Sergei whats up? You look like youse seen a ghost” he quips, a little smirk on his face. With that, he flicks his hood up, and steps back into the shadows, to head down the stairs
“We need to move one way or the other, this house is full of evil and alive, we might need a way to kill it like the Orc says.” He looks at Rudick who is going downstairs.
”I say we find out what it is and end it.” Lucan seems more determined than before that he finally knows what their dealing with. They’re dealing with the house itself, it is the monster the children spoke of.
Initiative goes to the party.
