This is a homebrew game with Dark Matter materials. If you’re unfamiliar, this is 5e d&d in space! I recommend you find the pdf for it and check it out. I’ll note right off the bat: this will be largely on Discord, and using pdf character sheets, as homebrewing all the additional classes, spells, gear etc is a pretty monumental task for one person.
I’m looking for 6 players to crew a ship. Level 1, Looking for races and subclasses from Dark Matter. You can use all the races you’re familiar with except: check the Dark Matters material for the updated race traits, most notably humans. Backgrounds: I’d prefer Dark Matters material backgrounds, but I’m open to standard or homebrew as well. Tell me a bit about what your character brings to the table for a salvage crew.
For ability scores: reroll 1s once, or use standard/point buy if you don’t like those.
Tell me what ship role you’d like: Captain, Dogfighter, Engineer, Gunner, or Pilot. The ship won’t have all the roles to start, but you’ll get bigger ships eventually.
Now for the meat of what you’ll be doing: You have each been hired on by a salvage company. You’ll be investigating rumors of shipwrecks, derelicts, missing property, and lost loved ones. Out there in the black, anything could happen, and the work is dangerous.
This will not have much story to start. Straight forward jobs as you learn the ropes. If you manage to acquire a ship of your very own - rather than using the company ship- then we’ll see where a charmed life takes you in the ‘verse.

Sounds interesting, I think I would like to play an ex- Space Marine Pilot who was cashiered for drinking on the job, "he" is a cyborg who likes hydraulic fluid just a little bit too much. But as long as he is off the stuff, he is a pilot sans peer, he can fly anything, or so he claims. But, as we all know, 'when the rubber hits the road' ...
Hey folks, I’ve actually already had one group fill up, but! The whole point of this is to have a pretty low-key game that’s more about enjoying the setting than about having an overarching story to start so I’m going to try and set up a second game soon, so ya’ll can start setting up your characters while we try to get another group of six. So don’t worry, you won’t be ignored, skipped, or ghosted

Ooh, sounds fun! I was kinda itching to do a few Dark Matter adventures but never got around to it. This time I'll for sure try out.

I'm thinking I'm going to be an Avia-Ra (I don't actually have Dark Matter, but I'm assuming that's just a reflavored Aarakocra, same ASI's and stuff) Cleric, probably Sun Above domain. Ship's Doctor background, probably going to be taking the Pilot role. More details later.

I am quite interested to play this, however I don't have access to the dark matter stuff. So if a link could be provided so I could look over the available stuff to the setting I'd be happy to work with you to make a character to fit ^_^.

I would play a Star Elf Bladesinger. After the Night Crusade, Tarathiel saw the horrors that war wrecks on innocent worlds. Vowing to have nothing more to do with state-based violence, he gave up his name and house, going into exile.

Nice distribution.
Yeah, thought it had possibilities, too.🛠
