Kal lets the point of his sword lower to the ground, but he doesn't sheathe it just yet. Breathing out a sigh, he turns to answer Silthras. "Down here at the very least, I think so. Those two wizards or sorcerers were...Powerful. If they're gone, I think it's a sign that we've chased them off."
"I think we can afford a closer look around down here. See what we can find."
"At the first sign of trouble we can leave, quickly." Velyra says, keeping a wary eye on the doorway the mage had come from. "After all this trouble, we need to find something."

Silthras looks up with a wicked grin, "I was planning to take him with us in one of our new bags. He'll be unconscious for a while." He look around dubiously, "But if we are not distubed, then here might suffice. I could do with a rest, and no sense leading them back to any of our bases. One thing at a time though: search first!"
With a bit of a grin knowing that he's 'in charge' of the investigation, Usul first quietly sneaks ahead, just to make sure that there isn't anything else alive past the doorway.

I'll roll investigation once I know what I'm actually investigating. At this point it's just the 'room', which feels more perception/looking around, than investigating.
The prisoner - now stable but unconsciously, is thoroughly tied up and left leaning against a wall. Usul quietly slips inside the room to the upper left, finding what appears to be a bedroom. After giving the all clear, Silthras steps in from behind and takes a little bit closer of a look around. There's a large bed in the corner, much more luxurious than the cots found earlier in the complex. A small corner table sits next to the head of the bed, with a figurine statuette sitting on top of it. In the opposite corner is a desk with papers, inkwells, and quills scattered over it.
Where there was previous bare wall is now a secret opening, which you can see reveals a short hall that quickly veers left.
After they've cleared the room, Kal will step in behind Usul and Silthras with Detect Magic active. Mostly to make sure they don't trigger another alarm spell, but he takes a quick glance around the desk and bed to make sure nothing glows.

Sylnora hesitantly follows the others further into room. Assuming Usul and Silthras will handle the obvious places, she decides to do a bit of her own investigating. Realizing the builders' fondness for secrets, she taps along the rest of the walls and floor to check for the tell-tale echo of an empty compartment. She'll also toss the bed covers and check underneath it.
Tapping away diligently on the stone, Syl doesn't seem to be able to find any hollow spaces. Underneath the bed there is a somewhat small but impossible to mess chest - as she pulls it out from its hiding place she's able to feel a decent amount of heft to it and the jingle of coin. It's secured by a simple looking padlock.

Usul heads over to the corner table and first picks up the figurine, playing with it a bit ((what's it a figure of?)), before settling down to look through the desk itself. 'Ol Mr. Kwiz did like his papers and inks... investigation 22
The figurine gives you a bad feeling as you look over it. Though not as grotesque as the statues nearby the entrance to this complex, there's still something off-putting about it that you can't quite place. It's made of clay or some similar material, depicting a lanky humanoid figure in a frog squat position. Their arms are too long for their torso, and in place of eyes, nose, and a mouth there's simply a carving of strange symbol you don't recognize. Twisting horns rise from their head, curving inwards.
Both Usul and Silthras move onto the desk, beginning their investigation. Underneath the mess of papers is a large map of Sonatide - while most of the rest seems to be slightly translucent parchment with random lines and arcs on them. Almost immediately however, you both see a pattern and begin rearranging the drawings over the map. After a few minutes, you finish and smooth them out, revealing what is without a doubt a map of the tunnels. It quickly becomes clear why Silthras' projection of a wheel with spokes didn't pan out, as the true form seems to be that of some kind of ritual circle.
The rest of the papers on the desk are written in a jagged script you can't read, but you've definitely seen it before, carved into one of the corpses at Redvale Manor.
There is but a singular drawer on the desk, containing a simple iron key that looks like it might fit the padlock on the small chest Sylnora found. There's also a few miscellaneous items: a letter open, some spare inkwells, quills, and parchment.
Further investigating the desk, the pair also find a hidden compartment that pops out on the underside. A white leather covered book with a sigil branded onto it falls out. Quickly leafing through would reveal that's it clearly a spellbook.

While casting Comprehend Languages, Kal reaches forward and puts his hand on one of the pages with the strange script on it, reading aloud their meaning once the spell takes effect.

"Chest here..."Sylnora murmurs, getting up from beside the bed to go join the rest by the desk. Looking over the symbol overlaid on the map. "Nothing good."
Any chance she recognizes anything about it? Arcana: 19
The words become clear to Kal as he casts his spell, reading over the scattered pages. They're a little out of order, and read more like poetry or a ballad than anything else. The true meaning behind them becomes clear however, as you read aloud a twisted sermon on some of the most powerful servants of Tel'n'avae, locked away by heroes of old. It continues into something of an instruction manual, detailing a ritual to undo the binding that imprisons these friends - requiring sacrifices in the tens of thousands.
As Syl studies the symbol, it becomes clear that it's unlike anything she's ever seen before. There are elements that point towards certain schools of magic: conjuration and necromancy. And the entire thing reminds you of something you once read on an experimental technique on amplification. From what you recall, there would also be a much smaller control sigil placed somewhere within the larger on.

Silthras nods, "Aye. I could do with a pause, but failing to investigate would seem a wasted opportunity."
Once the prisoner is stable, Silthras will help Usul tie them up, then move on to helping Usul in investigation as per their usual team effort.

Helping Usul investigate.
Dunno what happened. The perceprion roll should be +3 with advantage...so 19 or, advantae roll: 7.
After the prisoner is secured, Kal nods. "Make sure no one is going to surprise us again. Then tear the place apart."
